Public Connecting with stupid peo—err, constituents!

LOCATION: THEED, Naboo

Tryvge Hakon sits in his office on Theed, Naboo. There's a massive stack of The High Republic Senate papers sitting on the left of his ornate desk. A datapad seems to be constantly blowing up to his right. He mostly ran for the Republic Senate seat because it had a better pension than what Wroona offered plus a bigger ego boost, but here he is.

He's a charismatic guy—at least that's what he tells himself. Last night's overindulgence on Merenzane Gold still hangs over him like a dark cloud. He regrets promising a journalist he'd open his office to the public as soon as he was elected, but it's better to do a poor job than lie, right?

He hasn't bothered to check the schedule. He has no idea what it looks like. All he knows is he has a full day of appointments and meetings with constituents, businesspeople, politicians and whoever the hell else bothers to show up. It sounds like hell and he feels like hell, but its only about 0855. The thought of surviving this day sounds impossible, but at least he has a lunch break. He reminds himself: just put on a pretty smile, promise some random things and agree with these people. In politics, they will care way more about your impression than if you actually follow through on whatever short-sighted legislation they want proposed. Who knows? Maybe one of these appointments will actually turn up a business meeting worth his time?

His hands move to steady his face and he tries to reinvigorate his eyes. He debates a dose of spice, but it's better to suck it up and be halfway asleep at these meetings than risk a real scandal. At least the security is airtight here on Naboo, so he shouldn't have to worry about any dangerous intruders, just idiotic ones.

His staffer asks him if he's ready. He halfway nods.

"Send them in," he says with a weak gesture towards the door.

OOC: This thread is open to anyone that wants to interact and talk to the newly-elected Senator of Wroona. Any sort of violence would need to be heavily warranted due to the strong security forces on Naboo.

Comfortable Liar - by Chevelle

Location: THEED, Naboo
Tag: Tryvge Hakon Tryvge Hakon

Theed rose before me like the memory of a dream polished by time. Centuries ago, when I first walked its marble promenades beneath banners of a weaker age, the city carried itself with an anxious grace, as though every citizen feared the galaxy might collapse around them by sunrise.

Now the towers gleamed brighter than I remembered, their pale stone kissed gold by Naboo's afternoon sun, their hanging gardens spilling over balconies in cascades of emerald and violet. Music drifted through the plazas where children laughed openly beside fountains shaped like ancient kings. I found that detail the most unsettling of all.

Happiness. Genuine happiness.

I followed the great boulevard leading toward what I only assumed to be the Senate building, its domed silhouette looming over the city like some self-important guardian watching the river below. Security had become far tighter than in ages past. Patrol drones hovered above the entrances while officers in polished uniforms monitored streams of civilians passing through checkpoints.

Curious.

I slowed near the outer gate, letting my gaze drift across the structure's entrances, the camera placements, the rotation patterns of guards. Merely peeking. Merely poking at the seams to see what might unravel. Before I could advance farther, a security officer stepped into my path with a hand raised.
"Identification, citizen," he said firmly, though not unkindly.

With a slow tilt of my head beneath the hood, and feeling the Force coil softly around me, I let out a low sigh beneath my hood, more irritated than amused, and folded my hands within my sleeves.
"Naturally I carry no identification, you witless nerfherder; the galaxy has changed hands more times than you've likely drawn breath, but indulge me and answer this question, does the Senate still rule from this palace?"

The guard hesitated as I stepped nearer, my voice smooth with the refinement of ancient courts yet edged with the coarse bite of a blade dragged across stone. "Or has this world become so buried beneath procedure and bureaucracy that none here can manage a simple answer?"

The clock ticked by and nobody was there. The senator started to grow impatient. He's great at powering through when there is actual work to do, but he's a bit too anxious to sit around waiting on potentially nothing. As the clock ticked by, his impatience just grew and grew.

Finally, a staffer came in and suggested that the heightened security was leading people to getting held up at the gates. Perhaps the open office hours would've been better held at Wroona, where Tryvge Hakon had much more control over the environment. He was, after all, new to The High Republic office. He appreciated the security, but had yet to fully grasp how Theed operated. This place possessed more history than he cared to care about or grasp.

He slowly started to lose his mind as the clock ticked by and, eventually, he succumbed. He took a hit of spice and dug the fancy bottle of Merenzane Gold out of his drawer that he typically saved for legislative victories. He hadn't managed to find a reason to use it here yet, but now was as good of a time as ever. He poured himself a small glass, downed it quickly and haphazardly worked his way out of the stuffy yet ornate office he had been confined to. His chief staffer tried to stop him in the lobby, but he brushed her off.

He wandered down the lengthy and ornate halls until he find his way to the east entrance of the complex and made a beeline to the seemingly leader of the guard there. What ensued can only be described as insolent behavior by Hakon as he halfway berated the man, at one point, shouting, "Let them in! They're here to see their senator!"

This day already felt like a waste of time, but at least security hopefully wouldn't disrupt these highly valued and treasured constituents anymore.
