The tropical climate of this particular part of Yavin IV suited Petrichor, in its own charming way. The weather was quite different from that of Umbara, yet its entirely feral nature felt all too familiar. As such, Petrichor would find himself at ease walking its great expanses and depths alone, feeling quite comfortable. Not that he hadn't been on his guard, of course. When one had been on as many hit lists as he had, one could never be too careful. His own guard had insisted on accompanying him, yet he would turn them away, for some matters are better left to the self. Besides, if he could not stand on his own two feet, could he even call himself a Sith?

He had come here to explore the many ancient temples of those that had claimed to adhere to the Sith teachings, his desire for greater knowledge knowing no bounds. Yet, none of them knew the true nature of the Dark Side, nor the Force, for that matter...

It truly showed him how many years had gone by since the Sith had lost their way...

He stopped himself at the entrance of the ancient monolith, his two tuk'ata giving enough signal for him to take pause. He turned his head, and with a simple sigh he would breathe the words...

"Show yourself..."

Darth Reign had come to Yavin IV to continue his study of the history of Exar Kun that had begun with the trip to Ossus.

The final resting place of the Dark Lord had called to Reign, and he had spent the last few days meditating in one of the ancient temples, basking in the tropical heat.

He had been deep in his reverie when he had sensed a presence approaching. Masking himself he had observed the other. An Umbaran by the looks of him, and flanked by two tuk’ata no less.

Reign was taking stock of his options when the other Sith spoke to him. “Show yourself…” he had said.

Stepping forth from the shadows, Reign adopted a smile and said
“Well hello. I am Lord Reign, to whom do I owe the pleasure of this meeting?”

Pertichor's cold, masked gaze lingered upon the stranger as he announced himself, his body standing as still as the statues that may be found among these very ruins. He could sense the darkness within him, and that was enough to give the Dark Heretic pause. He had dodged countless assassins through the years, and after so many attempts on his life, it was hard to not question those outside of his order that practiced the arts of the Dark Side. Yet, there was no sense of violence about the man, at least not yet... perhaps the Force had brought them to this moment.

He took a step forward, offering a respectful bow of the head.

"Darth Petrichor."

The name itself would be enough to gauge the man's response. If he was aware of Petrichor's history, then he would either draw his crimson blade, or he would perhaps be one of the few that was open to his philosophy. Petrichor felt confident enough in his ability for a fight, yet he hoped for the latter nonetheless...

Suddenly, the presence of his two pet Tuk'ata became apparent as they jumped out from the shadows, flanking the man on either side. Petrichor quickly called out to them as they circled the man.

"Sutta! Taral!"

Their demeanor became less aggressive, though as they took their place at their master's sides, their eyes still hung with a hint of suspicion.

"Forgive them. They are my closest of friends, but can be quite protective."

He gave each a pet on the head as he spoke.

"So... Lord Reign... why has the Force guided you here?"

The Diarch thought for a moment when the Sith introduced himself.
The name rang a bell from his father’s lessons, but he could not place the story.

“A pleasure, Lord Petrichor, your name sounds familiar, but if you will please forgive me. I was raised isolated from the Sith at large, and have just myself started moving about the galaxy.”

Reign respectfully returned the bow of the head.

The beasts accompanying the Sith suddenly appeared at his flanks, but at Petrichor’s command, they seemed to stand down.

The Diarch was not afraid, he had clocked their presence, but he was curious about the beasts. He had not often run into tamed Tuk’ata

“No need to apologize, they are simply being loyal companions. Something only a few can claim to have. I’m impressed though. I don’t often see tamed Tuk’ata. As for why I am here, I have been studying the life of Exar Kun. I came to see his final resting place. But with you here, perhaps the force has other ideas for me..”

he thought for a moment before continuing
“tell my, my lord, why are you here?”

"I understand. In all fairness, I have kept a rather low profile, as of late."

That was an understatement.

The past few years had been rather tedious for the Petrite Order, wrought with a growing need for more clandestine measures than even their esoteric order had been used to. With their home under Alliance control, getting off-world had become quite tedious, though not impossible. Petrichor had spent enough time dodging his fellow Sith to be up to the task. Nevertheless, it didn't make the situation less of a nuisance.

"Indeed they are, though I would hesitate to call them tamed. They are as free as any should be within the Force. We simply have found each other to be suitable company."

His gaze lingered on his new companion for a moment, until shifting away at the mention of the ancient Sith Exar Kun.

"Ah... Exar Kun... an arrogant man, though also an effective cautionary tale of the dangers of hubris and curiosity."

He let the words hang in the air for a moment, considering whether what he sought was not to be found in the tombs at all. The Force worked in such nebulous ways, and often showed its hand only when absolutely necessary.

"I too am a man of a curious nature. Curious about the past... the future... though I do not allow such curiosity to lead me blindly."

Another small pause followed as the Dark Heretic let out a slight scoff at his own words.

"I suppose Exar Kun may have felt the same."

Turning his head back to Lord Reign, his calm, stoic voice finally answered the man's question.

"Musings aside, I have always been a man of knowledge. It helps provide clarity and wisdom. And the tombs of our forebears often hold much to learn."

The Diarch stood silently while the other man mused briefly. He had been trying to search his memory for reference to the Sith's name, he could swear he had heard it once before, in a lesson from his father he thought.

Then it struck him, it had been in a discussion about other Sith in exile.

"I hope you will forgive me, but I think I know now where I had heard your name. My father, was once a Sith Lord, and during our lessons, he told me about a few of the other Sith that had left the order. I believe your name was among them. But please, I don't want to presume, are you the same Petrichor that was titled the Dark Heretic?"

The Diarch's posture was still easy, he did not care for a fight at this time, he had come here to learn. And it appeared he may be learning more than he set out to originally.
