The Confederacy is Recruiting again.
Where are we?
In the outer rim of course, situated in an open space asteroid based space station. That way we can just pop up where ever.
(Pending creation, upcoming construction thread.)
What are we?
For now, we are a Private Military Corp looking to reach the end result below.
The faction is meant to be a Federation of planets, rather than an interplanetary government body like with most normal factions. This means those within the Confederacy will find themselves in a more defensive environment rather than an imperialistic or interventionist rule of thumb. In that note, the Confederacy will focus more on why the planets would join, the planets themselves, and spark a bit of more creation per planet rather than it being a dot on the map.
This comes the question of expansion, which will first off be stated as this. The plan for this faction is to become a major faction, that is the simple end of it but that does not mean this will be a sudden jump once the numbers are there. Like i said before story is the chief most important part about this faction and as such it means that we will only go major once the story has been set up to reason the actual influence the faction would need. This also brings up the fact of how the faction would gain influence/dominions once they have reached the point of going major.
The Confederacy, will very rarely, do tier 3 dominions. The reason for this is that focusing on that many planets and creating stories for all of them will be rarely possible and its a bit of an overstep. In line with the idea of story first, this faction will only ever do tier 1s and 2s until the number of people can support that many stories happening at once.
But you might ask, if you are like that what is the purpose of the Confederacy.
We are a Shield, that is the main purpose of the Confederacy. What does this mean though?
Being a shield means a few things, the first will be that it means more internal focus on the worlds where Confederacy influence touches and as such means that things will end up working more closely with the stories of those planets be it a Tusken Raider group continuously attacking Mos Espa, or a slavery ring sprouting back up on Ryloth. These are just idea and won't necessarily happen but what this ensures is that there is always something to do when it comes to the worlds nearby and within the influence of the Confederacy. After all, the Outer Rim is a dangerous and wild place, and someone needs to be there for it.
This also means, military action towards other factions will normally be on the defensive side, though retaliation is more than possible. I'm not saying we will be a pacifist faction... that's boring. What i am saying is that this faction will avoid inciting wars and work more closely with those factions nearby to create more personal relations between factions.
"But does that mean that you don't want fighting and skirmishes, or even invasions?"
No one said that... lets breakdown both examples.
Skirmishes could become more simulated events, allowing multiple factions to test each other out and have some fun, with no true prize for winning and specifically to avoid OOC angst that seems to find its way into things. I'm guilty of it in the past myself but that's why the Confederacy is being pushed, to help create a calmer PVP and PVE place for everyone be it fleeting, ground forces, saber combat, or a game of chess.
Invasions will be something interesting. Let's say, two factions want the same planet, but their stories start to conflict and mesh as they try to build up to it. Have you ever thought about an invasion involved around a tournament of duelist? Or like stated above, a simulation to better show who could defend the planet, or hell maybe just a meeting between the people's leaders and the two faction's heads while everyone else works to deal with an NPC threat that also is aiming to take over the planet. Sure the normal war invasion will of course happen from time to time, but why try and use the same old wooden wheel of the cart when you can create a tired for a car?
So simple as that.
Should you have any questions, please do post below. The more the merrier and it better explains what the Confederacy is meant to be.
