Company Rules and Canon Company Information

Canon Company Information
Due to the timeline, it is assumed most canon companies went south with the declining population of the Galaxy. However, it is the writer's choice in whether or not he wishes to further the future of a Canon Company. In order to properly adopt a canon company, please follow the below rules.

1. Create your Company submission.
2. At the bottom of the submission, please post an announcement in bold. "This is a canon company."
3. Below your announcement, link to the Canon Company's wookieepedia page.

*Please note that adopting a canon company will not give you a boost in tier. You may only start at a maximum of Tier 2.

Owning a Canon Company & It's Subsidiaries

1. Only one writer may own a Canon Company. You, as a writer, may not own more than one canon company.

2. Your Canon Company may not own other Canon Companies as subsidiaries unless they are directly referenced in the Wookieepedia as being owned by that Canon Company.

3. Each Canon Company Subsidiary must have another character not owned by you labeled as it's CEO/Director and must have their own Company submission.

4. Once approved, you may write that Canon Company's storyline as you wish. How did they survive the Gulag Plague? The story is yours.

Inactivity With Canon Companies

1. If a Canon Company Owner is absent for more than 30 days, any writer who does not already own a canon company may contest your claim by creating a submission of their own for the same Company name.

2. The Factory Judge presiding will alert a Role-play Judge, who will then attempt to contact the previous Canon Company Owner.

3. If the Role-play Judge fails to contact the previous Canon Company Owner within 72 hours and deems the Canon Company Owner inactive, the Role-play Judge will then alert an Administrator who will then transfer ownership of the original submission to the new Canon Company Owner, along with any edits made.

How to Grow In Tier! [V2]
Howdy, you magnificent capitalists.

There’s never quite been a comprehensive system in place for growing your company in tier. Frankly, precious few non-canon companies have progressed past Tier III, much less achieve Tier V. I intend to keep it that way. This guide isn’t intended to make your progression from Tier to Tier easier. Not in the slightest. This guide’s purpose is to make it so that you know exactly how to get your company graduate from one Tier to the next.

There are four types of threads I’m looking for. You should link to them when asking for a Tier upgrade.

Note that each linked thread can only be used to fulfill one of the sub-requirements for each tier level. ( IE: No double-dipping the same thread to fulfill a major project and a contract.)

NOTICE: Marketplace transactions do not count towards tier advancements.
  1. Threads wherein your products are sold in bulk to minor factions, major factions, or NPC organizations.*
  2. Threads wherein your company is a central element.
  3. Threads wherein your company expands, here meaning actual, tangible growth and not the creation of a subsidy.
  4. Threads wherein products are developed.

*These will count less than minor or major factions, obviously. These threads also need to be absolutely wonderful to read, or I will find you, and I will kill you.

Players are in charge of informing a moderator if a company no longer maintains the requirements of a given tier. Failure to do so could result in additional forced tier demotion and subsequent electroshock therapy. If you have any questions, post them here, and I or someone else will respond in a timely manner. Well, I won't be able to today. I'm going camping. But tomorrow, for sure.

NOTICE: You may not advance more than one Tier in a single request. Threads already used for advancement from one tier to the next or made during a previous tier will not count towards a new tier advancement.

Tier I to Tier II
  • Sign a contract with at least one faction or organization.
  • Make at least three minor-production products.
  • Complete two miscellaneous threads.

Tier II to Tier III
  • Sign a contract with two more factions or organizations.
  • Make an additional three mass-production products.
  • Complete three miscellaneous threads.

Tier III to Tier IV
  • Sign a contract with three more player-run organizations, one of which must be a major faction OR a Tier V+ company.
  • Make an additional three mass-produced products..
  • Complete four miscellaneous threads.
  • Successfully complete a project of sizable proportions.

Tier IV to Tier V
  • Sign a contract with two more major factions OR Tier V+ companies.
  • Make an additional three mass-produced products.
  • Complete five miscellaneous threads.
  • Successfully complete a project of sizable proportions.
  • Obtain the sponsorship of a major faction.
Sponsorship is essentially when a sufficiently large major faction decides to back your company's endeavors specifically. This can either be by them giving you a large, direct annual subsidy, signing a long-term contract, and other things that would tie the government of that faction and your company close together.

Tier V to Tier VI
  • Sign a contract with two more major factions OR Tier V+ companies.
  • Make an additional four mass-produced products.
  • Complete six miscellaneous threads.
  • Successfully complete a project of immense proportions.
  • Obtain the permanent sponsorship of another major faction.
NOTICE: If your company is a service company and not a production company, we'll talk about it, don't worry. Such companies, as they are relatively few, will be decided on a case by case basis.

Companies and Starships

1. Mass producing any starship will require substantial proof of income by way of development thread, higher tier company, or Minor/Major Faction involvement.

2. To produce a ship over 1,000 meters in length, a company must be Tier 3 or higher.

3. Companies may own and operate a realistic amount of non-combat starships where maximum length per ship = ( Tier Number x 1000 ) / 2

4. Companies may own and operate a realistic amount of combat starships where maximum length per ship = ( Tier Number x 1000 ) / 3 and maximum fleet length = ((Tier Number x 1000) x (Tier Number)) / 2

Guidelines for Creating New Companies and Subsidiaries

The following is a standard guideline on what is normally allowed with little to no development for the creation of new companies. Anything beyond this may prompt a FJ to request additional development threads for their final approval.

  • Holding companies or Parent companies can be case-by-case. Requirements may include the funding of another Tier 4+ company, Minor, or Major faction.
  • Every additional new Location & Operation requested through the Company Modification Thread will require their own development thread.
  • As per the Standardization of Dev Threads a development thread is required to start a subsidiary of a Tier V+ company at Tier III.

Stand Alone Tier 2 and Below Companies

A character may start with a combination of the following Tier companies with little to no development. Anything more beyond that may require a development thread.
  • Tier 2: Up to 2 companies
  • Tier 1: Up to 3 companies
Number of Subsidiaries under a Parent Company

The amount below is the reasonable amount of subsidiaries for their respective tier with little to no development.
  • Tier 3: 4 Subsidiaries
  • Tier 4: 6 Subsidiaries
  • Tier 5: 10 Subsidiaries
  • Tier 6: 12 Subsidiaries

Company Locations and Operations
Start up companies normally have the following amount of Locations and Operations with little to no development. A FJ may request for a development thread beyond this standard based on reasonable complimentary locations and operations.
  • Tier 1: Up to 2 locations & Operations
  • Tier 2: Up to 3 locations & Operations

Corporation Name:

(Straight forward. What's the corporation called?)

Headquarters: (Where is the corporation based? CEC is based out of Corellia, KDY is from Kuat.)

Locations: (If your corporation is large enough, where else have they set up shop? You're not strictly limited to setting up shop in nearby systems, but you shouldn't be hopscotching around the galaxy either.)

Operations: (What does your corporation do? What do they make? This can be multiple things, such as vehicle manufacturing, shipbuilding.)

Rationale: (How did your character come to own and control the company? Did they make it? Hostile takeover? Clever political scheming?)

Tier: (How big is your corporation? Max: 2 This is done on a scale of 1-6, with 1 being a very small company, generally producing only a handful of goods at a time, with very little support or influence in the galaxy. Think mom and pop shop. 5 is a big, big name in the galaxy. Each Tier is exponentially larger than the last, so a Tier 3 Corporation could have one or two Tier 2 corporations as subsidies without a problem.)

Description: (At least a paragraph description of your corporation. The higher the tier of the corporation, the more we expect from the description. If we feel like the description isn't adequate for the requested tier, you may be asked to include more detail or lower the tier. Particularly for player-made corporations, this should detail some of the processes of how the company does business. Does it accept private manufacturing requests? Is it loyal to a particular government or faction? Are they a benevolent corporation, or do they grind planets into dust for money? It's the little details like this that we're looking for.

Subsidiaries: (At Tier 3, if you so choose, your corporation can start owning other companies. If your corporation owns a company or multiple companies, this is where to list them. Subsidiaries require their own company submissions. Development threads would need to be done to show the work of the corporation. This is not something that you should expect to change easily, and we will be looking closely. Every time you add a new subsidiary, you must place a company mod to update it on the parent corporation sub.)

Parent Corporation: ( If this corporation is a subsidiary of another company, please name and link that parent corporation here.)

Primary Source: (Please link the source of another writer's submission that you are modifying for your use; only necessary for "Chaos Canon" submissions)
