Commen Council

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
“Whatever it is, I will take it.” She said. “ even if it’s in a bad part of the planet, even if it’s not been developed due to some sort of issue - any business location is good given we are using it for manufacturing.”

She thought for a moment how best to respond. “The galaxy is perpetually within a state of war. The war may not yet have directly come to you - Force hope it doesn’t - but it is happening. Even now galactic powers clash with one another. Lives are lost and military equipment is expended. It is better to be ready to play a defensive war than to be caught unprepared - the last thing anyone wants is for their home to be an easy target for thieves.”

[member="Vanessa Vantai"] seemed really eager for the business. Maybe things were slow for her and she really needed the credits. Either way, Kay couldn't really pry.

She nodded and folded her hands on the table, now finished with her meal. "Commenor survives. It always has. And it always will. One way or another, we'll find a way. But yes, it is better to be prepared than to not. Building up our defences is just one strategy of mine. Yet an important one."

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
"One can only hope the universe shares your optimism, Lady Kay." Vanessa finished her drink and her sandwich swiftly. "I'm glad that we were able to have this meeting - it's not exactly common, no pun intended, that I get the opportunity to meet directly with the leader of one of the major galactic powers." She said. "This personal touch that you have - it's something that's exceedingly respectable. In fact, dare I say, it's worthy of a gift." She thought for a moment - was a trinket in the style of an entrapment talisman a means of blighting the otherwise pure heart of this woman?

She would have to find out.

Kay didn't need to signal a server. She had a tab. But more than likely people would think that she never had to pay because she was the Queen. But that wasn't the case at all.

She laughed as [member="Vanessa Vantai"] called her a leader of one of the major galactic powers. That couldn't be further from the truth. "We're not one of the major galactic powers, I can assure you. If we were, then my words wpuld hold more weight than they do. But they fall on deaf ears for the most part. I've witnessed that many times."

As for a gift, she shook her head. "That isn't necessary. What you can provide both in jobs and supplies for our defence is good enough."

Kay got to her feet. "Now if you'll excuse me, I've got a lot of work to do. We'll be in touch." She wasn't brushing her off. There was a lot of work to do. Delegation was key, yet it took work to sort all of that out too.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
"Now don't hold yourself short - you actually have control of more territory than a single planet. That's major enough for me." She responded. "Oh, not right now - just something later down the line." Once Kay got up, she smiled. "A pleasure conversing with you, Lady Kay. I hope we can meet again under circumstances such as this - this was absolutely delightful."

Once the queen left, Vanessa herself moved to leave as well. She would stay in the Commenor system for a few more days - long enough to meet with the other individuals she was sure Kay would be passing her on to. After all, things were looking quite good.
