A roaming band of lightsiders on a journey to defeat the evil. They take an ancient name from days long past.

Kiffu had only recently fallen beneath the widening reach of the Sith Order. The typical and predictable Conquest was followed by administration. And administration was followed by lists of names. Among those lists were names marked for another purpose: Force-sensitive youths identified across the newly claimed world, gathered together for transport deeper into Sith territory. They were to be evaluated, divided among suitable programs, and taught what the Sith believed they ought to become.

They would never arrive however.

Somewhere along the route from Kiffu, the transport vanished from its assigned hyperspace corridor. When it returned to realspace, it was already under new management.

Upon the bridge stood a golden-haired man in pristine white and gold Jedi robes.

Several Jedi Securitron droids occupied the approaches behind him, pale armored bodies stationed with the rigid patience of artificial Temple Guards. Energy shields rested dormant upon their arms; weapons remained ready without yet being raised.

Caelis regarded the stars through the forward viewport before reaching for the shipwide communications system.

"To those aboard this vessel who were taken from Kiffu because someone discovered you could touch the Force…"

His voice carried evenly through the transport.

"…you will not be continuing to your intended destination."

There was no triumph in the announcement. No attempt to soften what he had done, either.

"No Sith Lord will select your future today as no Dark Master will claim you."

Caelis settled one hand against the edge of the command console.

"You will be fed, treated, and permitted to decide what becomes of you. I realize that may be an unfamiliar concept."

Lightsaber, Refuge, Respite, Jedi Outcasts, Grafted into Stone
Jasper let out an exhale as the Grafted into Stone jumped out of hyperspace to meet Caelieus Caelieus . This guy was really starting to get on his nerves already. Something between how preachy the man was and his very punchable face. It made him question how the Jedi Order, any Order for that matter, could fail an initiate so much and still allow them to ascend beyond a padawan. Alas, he at least seemed to get things done. The transport from Kiffu had been intercepted. so Grafted into Stone was here to retrieve them and provide safe passage.

Hopefully without any more headache.

<Master Caelieus, this is Grafted into Stone,> Jasper relayed over their open communications channel. <Our engines are hot and our hangar is open. We're here to provide safe passage back to Veridia. We'll be sending out a pair of escort fighters to cover you, over.>

They just needed to get this done and over with. The less he had to hear this guy's voice the better.

Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el
The blond received the hail and replied in kind, his voice retaining its faultless courtesy.

"Master Kai'el…how kind of you to join us. I confess, I had hoped the Order might reach these children before my direct intervention became necessary, but we are each called to serve according to our courage…and our timing... The children are secure, and the vessel is under my control. Still, there is no shame in arriving once the difficult work has been done, provided one does not confuse escorting the rescued with having rescued them. Your assistance is appreciated, of course.

I had thought that Refuge was your calling... is it not? Surely your judgment is sound enough to understand that a frightened child may know what they want without knowing what is best for them.Veridia will suffice while they recover, though I understand its educational institutions remain rather aspirational. Once the immediate crisis has passed, Naboo would provide the academic and cultural foundation these children will require once the immediate crisis has passed.... Safety is essential, Master Kai'el…but it should not be mistaken for a proper upbringing.

By all means…you may send your fighters. Over."

He adjusted the immaculate fall of one sleeve.

"I'm gonna lose my mind," Jasper muttered to himself as he rubbed at his temple.

"Ah, you worry too much, boy," came the voice of Dillon Kai'el Dillon Kai'el . The old man had joined the crew of the Grafted recently, offering his age and experience. "I'll fly out to meet them and escort them aboard. Just settle yourself down, yeah?"

Jasper had no time to protest. Dillon trotted off with a skip in his step as he made his way down to the hangar. The Jedi Master slumped back in his seat and let out a huff.

He really hated Jedi sometimes...

Before long, two Epo-1 Delta-class Light Interceptors emerged from the hangar. Dillon would open his comm channel and hail the transport.

<Good afternoon. Or maybe it's the evening. Time doesn't exist in space,> the old man began. <Anyhow, Master Dillon Kai'el, at your service. We're gonna make this nice and easy. My wingman here will take your right and I'll take your left. All we'll be needing you to do is follow along and keep your shields up in case anyone decides they wanna roll up for round two. No dilly-dallying now. Sooner we get out of this sector the better."

Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el

Caelis allowed the elder Kai'el's easy chatter to conclude before touching the communications control.

"Master Dillon Kai'el…your instructions are understood. We will maintain formation and keep our shields raised." His pale gaze settled upon the navigation display briefly before adding,

"It is reassuring to discover that initiative is not entirely absent from the Kai'el family. Lead on." He closed the channel and inclined his head toward the helm.

Fresh from the refresher, hair still a little damp and curls tighter than usual, Starlin hurried to the command deck where Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el presently lingered.
"Sorry, sorry, I'm here" the lad said, running a hand through his hair while tugging on a spacer jacket with the other. "Water was cold, took a minute to heat up. What'd I miss, Mister Jasper?"
His mentor looked to be nursing a migraine, so as he passed by a caf machine the boy paused to pour him a cup. Caffeine helped most migraines, right? Either way, he offered up the mug as he reached the control panels and looked out of the viewing port.

"It is reassuring to discover that initiative is not entirely absent from the Kai'el family. Lead on."

<How curious,> Dillon remarked as he lead them in formation. <I was of the opinion that, considering we jumped about half-way across the galaxy, we made quite fortuitous time. Not to mention that we just got finished escorting refugees from the Core. Ah, but I suppose that's just the nature of our work, is it not? Hundreds of calls between the vastness of space, and it feels like you're the only one who ever shows up. Fortunate that we even showed up, no? It seems that nobody else is on their way...>

There was no malice in his voice. In fact, it was very clear from his tone that the old man was beaming ear to ear. The hangar was open, and they would enter it soon enough...

"Sorry, sorry, I'm here" the lad said, running a hand through his hair with one hand while tugging on a spacer jacket with the other. "Water was cold, took a minute to heat up. What'd I miss, Mister Jasper?"

"Just picking up some force sensitive children from Kiffu," Jasper noted. "They were being transported to Jutrand before another Jedi intercepted them, we came responding to his request for aid. Unfortunately it seems that he's unsatisfied with what he got."

Jasper stood up and stretched a little, offering a shrug before he accepted the mug from the boy.

"Working with people isn't about your feelings, though," he stated. "It's about getting the job done. That means that you have to ignore those sorts of frustrations to ensure that no mistakes are made, even if it means you have to put up with people that you don't see eye to eye with. I'm sure that you'll have plenty of encounters with folks like that. That's why the first virtue any good Jedi must learn is patience."

From there he moved to go to the hangar.

"Come on. You can help take the children to our living quarters," the man told his young student. "Let's try to make them as comfortable as possible."

"Help is help, isn't it? Surely a little is better than none at all." Starlin frowned a moment, before shaking his head. It didn't matter, Jasper was right, the task at hand mattered more than how they were feeling about it.
"I've had encounters like that before" he agreed, mind tracing back to his brief run in with Eloise Dinn Eloise Dinn ... the siblings had most certainly not seen eye to eye, though Starlin could not claim to have been perfectly patient either. "How do you do it? Keep yourself calm, I mean?"
Of course the lad followed his mentor through the ship to the hangar. It was colder there, so Starlin was glad he'd had the foresight to bring his jacket. He realized, however, that the likelihood was the children would not have such a luxury, so as they passed a storage closet he paused long enough to grab a few blankets. Not perfect, but at least some of them could benefit from it.
"Poor mites" he said, with a soft frown, "I bet they're hungry and scared... I wish Uncle Theryn was here, he'd know how to make them feel safe. He always did with me, in those earlier weeks, shadow puppets and warm milk..." This wasn't about Star and his abandonment issues though, so he focused on the route ahead.
