Intent: To create a wardroid for the CIS
Development Thread: no
Manufacturer: Stargo Enterprises
Model: OMD-31 Colossus
Affiliation: CIS/Stargo Enterprises
Modularity: Yes (This militarized version and your average mining version)
Production: Minor-Production
Material: Durasteel
Description:

The Colossus-Class mining droid was invented by Stargo Enterprises for the purposes of mining for materials on a massive scale. The droid was created to be a massive piece of ore mining power, able to haul large amounts of materials while offering a large outpost inside for the overseers of the operation. Each of its long legs is equipped with a powerful magnetic surface to keep the droid attached to asteroids in space and also contains large scoops that lead mined materials up through a series of shafts to a holding area. On the belly of the droid is a powerful tractor beam to force the more stubborn and larger rocks directly into the holding bay. Each droid also has a mounted front mining laser powerful enough to cut through most raw materials with super condensed high heat laser to melt right through the metal and rock.

After consideration, Stargo saw the potential in the Colossus as a war machine. He immediately began production on an upgraded version that offered thicker durasteel plates and an upgraded laser for longer ranger and a more concentrated beam. The ore storage has been swapped out for use as a prisoner hold, soldier deployment bay or a vehicle deployment bay. a dozen automated blaster turrets have been placed along body of the droid and two Quad-cannons serve as a decent air defense on the back-most part of the head. The outpost has been refitted into a war room that offers full tactical display, turning these mining droids into mobile command centers for commanders. The primary role for these droids in a warzone is providing an HQ for military leaders while also acting as heavy artillery against the enemy. They are also perfect for anti-armor roles as the mining laser can easily cut through most material. Due to the use as mining droids, the war droid variants are produced on a minor scale and you would be hard pressed to find more than one in a battle that is not of grave importance.

While it is a powerful tool, the droid is ultra slow moving and what it has in solid defense it makes up for in little weak points. The "shoulder" joint motors right under its body as well as the small pistons connecting the upper-leg to the lower-leg are very vulnerable compared to the rest of the body. A well constant barrage of small arms missile fire or few well placed proton torpedoes will make the leg inoperable. The main eye is also a weak point in the droids defense, this is why two durasteel flaps have been added to either side of it. The droid can control these flaps in attempt to deflect incoming fire from the three avenues of approach front, left side and right side.

On the bottom of the droid are engines to be used during entry into a planets atmosphere. The droid is transported by connecting magnetically to the hulls of large capital ships and staying attached until brought over the planet when it disconnects and falls to the planet. After its mission is complete a barge is used to transport it back to orbit.
