The galactic archives - Atzerri

While Abyss stepped towards the library, the sun slowly meeting the horizon, he reevaluated the path that lead them here. Normally he would have preferred to search for a quieter and less obnoxious place for his research but his informations suggested that he could only finish his search at this place. The information he was following was far to good to ignore it even if it meant that he needed to spend hours inside the place. A few months ago a man suddenly vanished. Most people who bought anything related to the force that wasn't sold on the open market had heard one of his pseudonyms. If someone was about to buy or sell any book, text or relic with ties to the force on the outer tim, he or she would had a high chance that the object had or would travel trough his hands. Until now Abyss never put to much thought in his sudden disappearance, like most others he had just assumed that he retired and was enjoying the luxury of his money. A few days ago a guy he had made businesses with several time sended him a message. He told him that he would have information that would lead to the mans personal library. The information had his price and he was more than a little frustrated when he realized that he only had some fragment of a code, unless to find any information on its own. The only thing he could decipher were two words. Galactic archives.

With slow steps the hooded figure entered the large library, only to be meet by a large banner showing an advertisement with the slogan of the place. It would be a long night.

Quaint. Yes, that's what she would call it. It wasn't overly grandiose but at the same time it felt almost regal. The Galactic Archives were certainly not the largest collection in the universe but they held vital information. Information she'd needed, wanted even. She had arrived several hours earlier, perusing the archives in the dark at first. She had precious little to go off of.

Months ago, during her travels, she'd come across a strange little man, humbling and bumbling about. Now that she thought back to the encounter she had a sneaking suspicion that it was not by accident he'd come bustling about and turning a corner right into her. He'd apologized immediately but as he looked up at her, he'd seen something. She saw it in his eyes, a flash of recognition, and then it was gone... and so was he. Later that evening in her rented room, she found a strange note in her purse. It was written in Galactic Basic, the handwriting clumsy but legible.

It was a publication number, below it scrawled hastily were the words: Galactic Archive. Pg 308.

And so it was that she found herself at the Galactic Archives, nose deep in a particularly old text. It hadn't been electronically recorded or transcribed and so had taken her near an hour to locate using the antiquated filing system. When she had finally found it she had almost shouted with excitement, only able to contain it when she reminded herself she was in an archive, not a sports event. She'd gently lifted the book from where it sat on the shelf, it's thick leather-bound pages covered in dust. Of course, she hadn't discovered that until she'd opened it, setting off a small flurry of half stifled sneezes.

Setting the book on the table, she'd brushed a layer of dust from the cover, a dark print becoming visible on its surface. It read: "The Hollanday Treatise: Examples of Interstellar Law. How strange. How would this book lead her to knowledge about the Force? She narrowed her eyes, cautiously trying not to get her hopes up too high.

Gingerly she'd turned the pages as she sat in the communal area, tables and chairs spread out between a few of the rows of shelves. It was quiet here, but even the quiet couldn't still the noise in her mind. She desired knowledge and the excitement of nearly finding something... anything, was almost too much for her. Looking down at the corners of the pages, she flipped to page three hundred and eight. She cocked her head to the side slightly, trying to understand. The words were there, but they made no sense. It was as if someone had replaced the text of the book with personal letters, or perhaps it was a reference to a particular case, long since irrelevant. She noted it talked about the fields of Naboo, Bantha, and even mentioned Mandalore. This looked like part of a journal... but why was it published here, in a law book?

She turned back several pages, the dusty pages making noise as she did so. Her eyes scanned the pages, flipping as she read but unable to discern a pattern or a clue as to what knowledge lay hidden here. She knew the man she'd run into on the street had placed the note, but why? Surely it wasn't to read an outdated journal entry published in a law book? She sat there, trying her hardest to understand. After a while, she didn't even remember she was in the archives, her mind so focused on finding a clue in the text.

For a moment Abyss allowed himself to wander aimless between all the books and texts around him, stopping to read a few sentences once in a while. It wasn't the library of the sith academy, but while it meant that there were not much knowledge about the force to be found here, it also meant that he could find a variety of historical literature. He had to resist the urge to look for them, he didn't came here to read another story of the past. The little piece of paper with the little information he had scrambled on it, did hold more information than he initially thought. The seemingly random number looked awfully similar to the those the archive used to order its books.

Pacing besides the shelves, Abyss looked as the numbers slowly counted down. He was close. Only a few meters were between him and the solution of this puzzle. He came to a stop, looking through the books, searching for the right number. He moved his head up and down, to the sides, struggling to find the right number. Again and again he searched, slowly feeling a hint of desperation. Was he chasing a shadow? A lie? No it doesn't made sense, why should the numbers suddenly stop and jump?

Then his mind began to work. Once again he slipped so ddep into his thoughts that he completely overlooked the simple and obvious solution. Someone already had the book. The acolyte released a frustrated sigh from his lungs, carefully controlling his desire to fire a telekinetic blast at the closest shelf. Whoever had the book, he need to find them.

Threaten the librarian? Maybe. Abyss thoughts raced though his head, ordering the options he had to find the book. Maybe it was still here, and the one who took it also. If no he would have to hold his blade to the throat of someone. First he should search in the communal area, and the second this came to his mind he was already moving. The place was empty besides a woman at a table. He couldn't say if she was the one he was looking for but it was possible. Silently the sith moved, trying to look as little suspicious as he could in his long black robe. He moved behind her, trying to catch what the book was about.

As she read and re-read the aged pages of the book an overwhelming sense of... foreboding fell over her. She sensed something, but her lack of experience with the Force hid discernment from her. Shrugging it off she returned to the words on the page. None of it made sense, it didn't even appear to be relevant information, so what was this note getting at? She shook her head with a frown. Certainly the note had been given to her intentionally, for a purpose, but what good was that if she couldn't make sense of it? She let out a frustrated sigh. Her eyes snapped open. There. She could feel it again, that sense of... something. She slowly raised her head, looking around the small common area. When she'd arrived there'd been a few others about, engrossed in their books but now they seemed to have gone leaving the room empty except for herself. Except it wasn't empty.

She could sense it now, a lurking power there. Not the strongest presence she felt but this one was... turbulent. As she turned to look behind her a man stood there. She raised an eyebrow. Normally she would have been anxious, but she sensed no ill will here. Her gut would give her feelings from time to time, she'd learned to trust them. She rose, smoothing the wrinkles in her dress as she smiled at the man. She could tell he was young beneath the hood he wore low over his face. Perhaps she was even younger than herself. Interesting. She stood there, her piercing blue eyes centered on the hood, looking deeper. She didn't know a lot about the force, but through meditation and self training she'd become fairly decent at sensing things using the Force. His intent was shrouded however and she couldn't immediately determine what exactly he was doing, though she felt no ill intent. Perhaps a hunger. A hunger for what though...

"Hi... Can I help you with something?" she said politely. "Lilith, nice to meet you." She curtsied quickly and waited. Perhaps he would even tell her what it was he was looking for.

[member="Abyss"]

Abyss had hoped she would speak to him at all, at best not even realize that he was there. The force had decided against it. When she open her mouth he already expected to be insulted for his weird behaviour and his clothes that made his alignment slightly to obvious, but instead she was polite. Friendly even. His focus had been completely occupied with his search and while the sith could feel the force around them it wasn't quite as natural to them as it was to those still intune with the flow of the force. Now, interested to know why there wasn't any hostility he opened his mind, tapping into the energy around him searching for her mind. It took him a second to realize that she was connected to force in her aura, not because he could feel now strength in it but because it was untainted either by the light and dark, almost blending in with the force around it.

"I am ...Abyss. I was looking for the book you are reading."

He had no reason to be hostile towards her. She hadn't been either and her aura told him that she most possibly was untrained in the force, still using it in its most natural form, what meant that her friendliness was real. She couldn't guess what he was looking for with these informations.

"Would be possible to read it myself after you? Or do you plan to borrow it?"

Should she borrow it, Abyss already planned how he could get his hand on it. He would follow her and break into whereever she was living, stealing the book and leave without being seen. It was a solid plan, but getting it simply after a some time was still the option he hoped for.

She almost sensed a hesitation in the man, a slight almost embarrassment at being addressed. She continued smiling at the young man. As he introduced himself, she raised an eyebrow. Abyss. It wasn't the strangest name she'd ever heard but then, it wasn't the way it sounded that caused her pause, it was the connotation of the word. While it gave her a slight unease, she pushed back against it. She wasn't in the habit of judging people before she knew them except in the most extreme of cases. As he mentioned the book, she suddenly felt a twinge of fear. What would someone else be needing this book for? It certainly wasn't a new publication, or even a particularly important one from what she could tell. Her eyes narrowed as she examined the young man before her a little more closely.

"Oh... you mean this book?" she said, using both hands to point towards the text on the table. She stepped slightly to the side. "You know, this particular book is terribly boring, I've been looking for..." she trailed off.

In horror, she realized she'd almost just told a complete stranger what she was doing looking through the old text, and a force user to boot! It was evident what he wanted from it, but if she hadn't been able to find it... now she was even more curious. She gave a sideways smile at Abyss as she looked from him to the book on the table. Motioning towards it, she offered him the chair.

"I can tell you're looking for something, what that is... I could hazard a guess." She raised her hand up, between her fingers was held the small note she'd been given. She held it there just long enough for the man to glimpse the basics and then hid it in her palm once more.

"I've been here for a long time now, scouring the pages of this text, and I can't seem to make heads or tails of it. Perhaps if we worked together? I assume you have guessed that at the end of this little mystery lies a supposed trove of knowledge then?"

She had reservations about working with the man, his turbulent nature boiling beneath the surface, but she also knew there was no way she was finding what she needed without him now. Perhaps working together would help them both, they might find things they could share. Only time would tell. She motioned once more to the chair, urging him to take a look as she put the note she'd been given down next to the book. Perhaps he would have better luck seeing what she could not, perhaps she had been missing a piece of the puzzle.

The subtil raise of her eyebrow was enough to make Abyss realize what he just said. He didn't gave her a fake name instead giving away the one he had chosen for himself. It was not the first time someone gave him a weird look for it as it was another obvious hint about his alignment. Suddenly his confusion faded, eaten away by the his hunger for knowledge as the note flashed in her hands.

It took him only a few seconds to guess that she was here for the same or at least a similar reason than him. The words that left her mouth became a blur, his mind travelling of from reality. Should he take her information by force? No, even with no one around the place was still to public to do anything like that. Steal it? Maybe but still a risk. Work with her ...

They both came to the same conclusion almost simultaneously. She had already read the book and he was sure that she would figure out its hidden knowledge faster than himself because of it. He didn't have to take her out anytime soon. Not while she still could be useful. He slowly nodded at her.

"Then working together it is."

He moves his hand in his robe, searching for the piece of paper that he had recently acquired. After a few seconds it meet his fingers and he moved his hand, putting his paper besides hers. His eyes observed her, he still had his suspicions if he could trust.

"Do you know what you are looking for?"

Without any knowledge about he it was hard to tell if she was someone simply hunting after a treasure or if there was more to her search.

The young woman nodded at the younger man, smiling as he'd come to the same conclusion. It was much more likely they'd be able to uncover the mystery held here within the pages of this book if they worked together. She reached out, grabbing another chair and pulling it up next to the table before seating herself in it. Her eyes widened slightly as he placed another note next to hers. What was that? Her eyes scanned the page quickly, then flicked back to the pages of the book. That was the missing piece to her... their puzzle. She smiled.

"I think I do now!" She said, a little louder than she probably should have.

Sheepishly she looked around her but no one seemed to have noticed her brief outburst. Turning back to the man she spoke once more.

"If you correspond those numbers..." She pointed towards his note. "...with these pages. It looks like a cipher of some time, but it looks like that only reads off a few letters, more numbers?"

Her mind raced. What did all the numbers mean. Maybe her new friend would have a better idea. Words she was good with, numbers... not so much. A stray thought passed her mind but she lost it. She hoped Abyss would have better luck deciphering the numbers.

[member="Abyss"]

Abyss focused on the book, trying to find the connection between the letters and numbers. He moved his head closer to the book, grabbing a pen from the table to scribble besides the words.

"No. Can not be ..."

He whispered, more to himself than to her, still drawing and writing in the book. By now he was completely lost in his thoughts, without any sense of his surroundings. Reading the combination he always came to the same conclusion, one that had to be wrong.

"I think ... I think coordinates ... but no ..."

Abyss had traveled far beyond the boarders of the known galaxy before, but never as far as the coordinates hidden in the code. It seemed illogical that someone would travel so far. Only if ...

"So that is the reason he could hide all his stuff ... so far from everyone."

He slowly returned to reality, now unsure if he was right. His theory was solid, yet he only deciphered the code by simply writing it down. Maybe it was time to use some more elaborate techniques to make sure. With a movement of his hand he takes out his mask that was hidden inside his robe, holding it in front of his face. The wooden item had various helpful effects, one of the was the ability to use to force to create a stabil hyperspace route in his mind. If it would be possible to get there than he was right. As the wood touched his skin he could feel the power inside it, showing him a path through the galaxy.

"Looks like coordinates to me. Here take a look."

Without further explanation he moved the mask to her so she could look at the strings of letters and nunbers.

She watched as the younger man went to work, eyes scanning the book. Then the numbers. Then back to the book. She watched, fascinated as he continued to work through the puzzle. Coordinates? Coordinates to where? As the book was slid across the table to her, Lilith narrowed her eyes. He'd suggested that the numbers and letters hinted at coordinates. She looked, trying to paint a picture in her mind. But... the numbers didn't match up... it was well outside of any known celestial bodies...

She awkwardly held the mast, hesitantly raising it to her face. As she gazed at the book and the numbers, it was as if a spark had finally caught fire, the flames a raging inferno. Now she understood! It was as he'd said... they were coordinates, but not to a planet, or a tomb, or any other static location. It was something else entirely.

"It's a ship." She said flatly, the realization stunning her. "He stored all the information on a ship!" She shook her head in amazement. She hadn't even considered the idea that it was mobile. That explained the strange numbers and letters, the coordinates that didn't appear to match up. She grinned, excited about what they'd discovered.

"He is even smarter than I thought. Still not smart enough to hide forever."

From the lungs of the man a dark single laugh emerged, echoing trough the empty library. This was more than just an opportunity to gather some books that he could sell to the highest bidder. This was an opportunity to learn ancient secrets that had been hidden inside of these books for an eternity. Abyss locked his eyes onto her. She had been useful, and showed a strong connection to the force. The dark side always could needed new recruits against the powers of the light. And she had the potential to become one of them.

"Come. We have a long way ahead of us. My ship is not far from here."

He moved his hand, gesturing in the direction of the exit of the place. She might would have doubts if she could trust this offer. The moment she would see "his" ship she would have even more, the old, stolen corellian freighter had seen more than a few better days. Still if she really desired knowledge with a passion alike his she would overcome this doubts, and therefore reveal her ture potential to the sith.

Lilith smiled wryly as he spoke. She couldn't deny it, without the younger man's help she wouldn't have figured the puzzle out... at least not any time soon. She could hear something in the man's laughter that unnerved her... but the prospect of learning knowledge that had been secreted away for decades, even centuries was too great. She smirked as she played through the scenarios in her mind. As the man spoke for a second time she looked quickly around them, surveying the small area. She noticed no one. She raised a solitary finger, winking at Abyss.

With a grin, she carefully moved over to where the text was on the table and snatched it up. She lowered a hand beneath the table, retrieving a small satchel. Smoothly slipping the book into it, she stood, smiling and winking once more at the man in front of her.

"I think I'm about ready to go now! It's a good thing you've got a ship, I am certainly no pilot."

She smiled, suppressing a giggle as she pondered that thought. Her, a pilot? The idea was silly bu she knew better than to tempt the fates, they had a funny way of coming back to bite you in the rear. She moved up next to him, cocking her head to the side.

"You lead the way, it's your ship!"

[member="Abyss"]

Abyss smiled slightly as he watched the book disappear in the depths of her bag. Theft wasn't a sign of the dark side but it revealed that she had a weak moral compass, putting her desires in front of others. Now he knew that he was right to see potential in her. The young acolyte slowly turned away from the table, stepping towards the exit. As he walked, his eyes locked on all the books around him, out of a small feeling of regret that he didn't had the chance to read any of them.

The city outside wasn't empty like the library but at this time and day only few made their way on the streets. Passing by people getting of work, people going to work and people taking a intoxicating break from work, he kept his head down. Not out of fear but because he it was simpler that way. He preferred to be noticed as less as possible.

The way lead away from the more crowded parts of the city to a small, run down docking bay. The place was empty besides a few droids, mindlessly working on simple tech that was littered on the floor. In the center of the docking bay was a old and weathered coralline freighter, looking far from functional on the outside. Abyss always choose ships like this when he had to travel. Often no one missed them, and even if they did no one would invest the time needed to locate it. The most effective kind of stealth, hiding in plain side.

The gate of ship began to open in little stutters, taking a few seconds to become a gap Abyss would fit trough. With slow steps he entered the insides of the ship.

Lilith followed the man out of the archive, just a little bit surprised that removing the book had been so easy. These people didn't realize what they had been sitting on for so long, it amused her. She was brimming as she followed the man through the streets. She had contingency plans in place in case something uncouth were to happen but she didn't get that feeling. As she followed closely she kept her eyes open. The scenery wasn't what one would call beautiful but she appreciated the journey. As they progressed through the streets they began to see older buildings, more warehouses and rundown shops. It caused her pause... but she continued following. In the distance she could see a small starport.

As the minutes ticked by they got closer, eventually arriving at the starport itself. It was a run down setup, debris and trash littered the small corners and alleyways between the buildings. As they entered, she followed Abyss to the hangar where his ship had been stored... boy was it a sight. She hesitated slightly, skeptically eyeing the ship as the ramp stuttered on its way down to the ground. She'd never been one to pilot but even she knew that this looked like a bad idea. Against what she thought to be her better judgment she shrugged and followed Abyss into the bowels of the ship.

This was the first leg on her search for the hidden and presumed lost collection of both Jedi and Sith artifacts and manuscripts, relics of a lost age. They'd gotten their coordinates, now the only thing left to do was find them and see where the fates took them!

[member="Abyss"]

Abyss took place on the pilot set of the ship, motioning her to take place on the one besides him. He began to interact with the ships interface, giving it the input it would need later on to bring them to their destination. While the computers began their calculations, he moved his hands onto the controls in front of him, as the ships systems slowly flickered to life. The repulsorlifts pulled the old piece of metal above the ground as it ascended into the air. When the distance between the ground and the ship was far enough, he once again typed into the console. With a jumpstart the ship accelerated as the engines were activated. The freighter was almost shoot out of the atmosphere and into space.

----------------------------------------------------

The journey was as long and eventless as Abyss had anticipated. While in hyperspace there was little to do, as the ship was flying by itself. He was still deep in a meditative trance when the ship jumped out of hyperspace, another larger ship appearing on the edge of the ships view.

She'd taken a seat, strapping herself in. She'd always had a distrust of flying, more so now because she'd seen firsthand the condition of the ship they were in. Curiously she watched the man as he fiddled with the controls. She'd never had a need to pilot a ship herself, and much to her chagrin she figured she had better pay attention in the event there was an emergency. It couldn't be too hard right? She took a quick breath as she felt the ship move beneath them, her hands gripping the seat as they flew upwards, out of the atmosphere and into space. As they began to escape the gravitational pull, she relaxed slightly, her hands folded neatly in her lap. A slight frown, she looked to her left.

"You're quite comfortable with flying it seems, I'm glad one of us is!"

The journey appeared to be a long one and she stared out of the cockpit as they began their journey.

---------------

She'd fallen asleep roughly halfway through their travel, her head resting lightly against her shoulder. The sharp jolt of coming out of hyperspace awoke her with a start. Almost frantically she looked around herself, trying to get her bearings. As she started to remember she smiled at herself. The man beside her appeared to be looking at something out of the cockpit and her eyes quickly followed. It took her a moment to see it, but there it was, the hulk of another ship... a large ship. The first thing she noticed about it was just how derelict it appeared. She noticed no lights, nothing indicating any sort of energy inside. An idea struck her. Closing her eyes, she used the Force to feel for any lifesigns aboard, attempting to discern anything... but as she started to feel the hull of the ship... nothing. It must be shielded from the Force, protecting against probes such as hers.

"It's protected... we'll likely have to get on board, I can't sense anything from it."

She frowned slightly. The idea of boarding a derelict ship was both exciting, and terrifying. Especially when you didn't know what you were liable to find, or what traps you might stumble into.

[member="Abyss"]

Abyss eyes rested on the ship that was silently gliding trough space. No lights, no energy. No live. To him that could mean a multitude of things. Maybe it was like she guessed shielded of to hide from curious is like theirs. Or it was as it seems. Dead and abandoned. That was the option Abyss feared more, he had seen the horror that existed so far outside the know galaxy and he had no wish to meet them again. The only thing he liked more than creating theories about mysteries was actually solving them. Still standing in the cockpit, the acolyte closed his eyes, listing to force around them, following the sound until he reached the ship.

"I can hear them whisper from the past..."

Abyss mind was overwhelmed by what he heard when he began to listen. He was quite skilled in finding relics and their like even over great distances but this was outstanding. The echoes of the past that resounded from the ship were weak and far away as the ship, but there were many. Even more then he heard in the old collection of his father. He motioned her to the ships controls, signaling her that it was up to her to fly the ship. He had noticed early on how see was trying to learn what he did. It was nothing but a simple test to see if she had inside her what he had guessed.

Her gaze continued set on the hulk of the ship as it got closer. It was a good sized ship. She looked over to where Abyss was seated, he appeared focused, concentrating on something. As she watched him, he motioned towards the controls of their ship, his intent clear. She narrowed her eyes slightly. Her? Fly? Surely he must be joking. Sitting there for a moment longer, she realized he wasn't just kidding, he actually wanted her to take control of the ship. With a small sigh, she grit her teeth and reached out for the auxiliary controls on the console in front of her co-pilot's seat. How hard could it be, right?

Without saying a word, she wrapped her delicate fingers around the throttle and joystick. Taking a deep breath, she eased forward slightly on the throttle, the ship accelerating. Nervously she tilted the control stick to the right, the ship starting a slow twist as it evened out with the large hulk of a ship ahead... and then it kept going. Almost frantically she pushed left on the stick causing the ship to jolt back to the left as it began to roll. If she wasn't careful, she would lose control and that was not acceptable. She closed her eyes, focusing on what she needed to do. Gently she pulled back on the throttle, easing the stick back to the right and to the rear, bringing the nose of the freighter back into line with the derelict ship.

Lilith's eyes snapped open, a smile crossing her features. She'd managed to get back on course and actually had lined them up pretty well for a complete newbie to flying. The docking procedure thankfully was automated, the controls for that clearly labeled. Initiating the docking procedure, the ship moved itself aside the other, the docking rings going to work as the ships systems initiated. She turned to Abyss.

"I did it! Looks like we're all set! What do you think we'll need to bring with us?"

She gave him an inquisitive look. She hadn't ever really gone on an adventure such as this, her experience exploring derelict ships in search of knowledge severely lacking. In fact, adventures of any sort were in short supply of her repertoire. Sure she traveled a lot, but not like this. Mostly on shuttles and from planet to planet.

[member="Abyss"]

Abyss watched her carefully as she took control over the ship, ready to intervene if she should make any mistake thag could endanger the quest ahead of them. Like he had thought she managed his test without even breaking a sweat or a hint of panic. She had both the nerves and intelligence for the path they were on. Under his hood the acolyte gave her a satisfied grin, as the ship began the its docking automation.

"We do not know what is in there and why the ship seems dead or empty. Maybe someone hides inside, ready to kill anyone who tries to enter. Maybe anyone on the ship is dead, killed by the terrors that roam around in the depths of space. Also the ships systems could be offline, no gravity and no air to breath. We need to be ready for everything."

Abyss eyes and hands moved to one of the cabinets in the cockpit, opening the small crate to gather everything they could need.

"Can you use on of these?"

He asked her while grabbing a small blaster pistol from the stored gear. After searching through the cabinet a few moments more he took out two devices that would allow them to breath and survive in the vacuum of space, followed by a handful of glowsticks that would serve as a light source inside the ship. The last thing he grabbed was a small knife, once again showing it to her.

"Take this, we do not know if whatever is inside can be killed by a blaster."

He almost moved towards the exit of the cockpit before turning around. With a doubtful look he began to speak once more.

"You know how to use the force if anything goes wrong right? If not just stay behind me and try not to die if you do not absolutely need to."

His expression changed to a small smile, before finally walking towards the ships exit. In his righg hand rested the golden hilt of his lightsaber, ready to ignite it the second he would step foot on the other ship.

Someone lurking inside to kill them? This young man certainly had a gloomy way of looking at things! Though, she supposed that was probably from experience. To her, she'd never have assumed that right off the bat. She was careful, but not overly suspicious. Call it one of her character flaws but she like to try and see the best in everyone. It was true, everything he was saying. The universe was a dangerous place if you weren't careful, sometimes it was great, other times not so much. She watched as he moved over to a cabinet and began sorting through its contents. As he reached out towards her she saw what he was holding.

"Umm" she hummed. "Point and shoot right?" She smiled sheepishly as she took it from him.

She'd never really fired a blaster before, she'd never had to. Sure, she usually carried a hand-sized canister of pepper spray around with her but never a blaster. The holo-movies made it look easy enough. Step 1, point at bad guy. Step 2, squeeze trigger. Easy as pie, right? She suspected there was more to it, but there couldn't be that much more right? As she was visualizing herself shooting the blaster in her mind, Abyss handed her another device, this one looked more like a re-breather but much more complex. She assumed that was in case life support had been disabled on the other ship, though if that was the case, she secretly hoped he had a pair of atmos suits which would be much safer since the vacuum of space was extremely unforgiving.

Finally, Abyss provided a knife, handing it to her. She took the blade in her fingers, turning it over as she looked at its sharp edges and vicious point. Would she be able to use this in self defense if she had to? Where was she even supposed to stab or cut with this thing? She'd gotten some basic self defense classes under her belt while still at the orphanage but that was years ago. The excitement made her almost woozy but she smiled. This was likely the most adventurous thing she'd ever done. As he asked her about the Force, she once more sheepishly smiled at the man. She'd received some training, but it was very rudimentary, most of her abilities were passive and wouldn't do much to help in a true fight.

"Well, I've had some training, though I doubt it will be of much use if we are set on by beasts or creatures unknown."

Sithspit. There she'd gone, using strange language again, slipping into one of her holo-novels. She silently bit the inside of her cheek. Sometimes she embarrassed herself. Taking a deep breath, she'd forced a smile and followed a few footsteps behind Abyss as they prepared to board the derelict ship.
