  • [SIZE=14.6667px]Shielding: The biggest defensive boost is the Redundant shielding possessed by the craft. This redundant shielding allows for significant defense against small craft which it is designed to deal with. This does not make it invincible mind you, but it will also mean that you will seriously have to try as a pilot to scratch this thing. [/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=14.6667px]Weapons: This thing is built to deal with strike craft and missile weaponry. As such it does these very well by use of heavy and rapid firing weaponry that can track and eliminate its enemies. Boosting no offensive weaponry, it is able to quickly substitute that extra space to those extra defensive guns and fill its role as a Heavy Anti Fighter Frigate. [/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=14.6667px]Speed: The Frigate is slower than any other picket or anti fighter frigate on the battlefield, meaning it is not able to hunt down and deal with fighters as easily. This further restricts its abilities to change the location of its craft when it comes to escort duties an as such could leave ships open should it not be able to arrive in time in order to aid it. [/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=14.6667px]Weapons: This ship cannot defend itself against anything larger than a Corvette and most Frigates. This means that any decently armed capital ship can wipe this ship off the face of the galaxy without it being able to so much as scratch the other ship. In this manner it is defined to its place as a Anti Fighter Frigate, and only an anti fighter Frigate. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=14.6667px]Description[/SIZE][SIZE=14.6667px]: The cluster class Frigate is a true emphasis on large gun diplomacy, but in a way that is generally not taken into thought. Rather than creating a craft with significant offensive weaponry to round out its slower and more heavily defended body, the idea was to create a craft which could fend off strike craft with ease yet still hold itself together should the target of those strike craft switch to the ship in question. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=14.6667px]And so the Cluster Class Frigate was born. Using the ideas detailed above, the ship was designed to hold significant defensive abilities but also to house instead of a single offensive gun (not counting the warheads) to divert all focus and power that would have been used for those weapons to defensive armaments. The Use of relatively heavy shielding also caused for a choice in weaponry that was not so heavily dependant on energy based weapons. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=14.6667px]The first things to be added were the weapons themselves, the choice of weaponry able to focus on and take out many different enemy variants with ease as detailed by their different functions. But the strongest emphasis came with the Flak Guns. The Flak Guns were specifically chosen and placed along the upper portion of the ship in order to effectively create a wall of physical propelled shrapnel that could deal with heavy craft and clustered enemies with ease. The idea for this came from seeing the tactics used at the battle of Castameer by the Captain of the Force sent there, Nida Vaal. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=14.6667px]In addition to these, Antimissile and smaller weaponry was added to deal with faster and smaller threats. The Antimissile Octets and Point Defense weapons specifically able to take on and defend against great deals of interceptors without worry. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=14.6667px]This is not a truly invincible craft though. Specifically against any capital ship it begins to fall apart and is easily dealt with. Lacking any Offensive weapons past its warheads means that this ship is a sitting duck against anything with a decent weapons loadout much less dedicated warships. Furthermore it is significantly slower than normal anti fighter frigates, meaning it cannot chase or change its location as quickly and must be used more like a shield than a picket craft. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=14.6667px]Intent[/SIZE][SIZE=14.6667px]: To provide a ship with heavy weapons capabilities but instead of anti Capital Ship weaponry, turn it into an Anti Starfighter Platform. This while sacrificing speed was meant to be able to support and protect larger ships while dealing out rather significant damage against Strike Craft of all sizes from interceptors to gunships.
