"It'll take more than a wimpy laser blast to bring down the Sheriff of Terminus."

He let out the first syllable of a womanly shriek before biting his clenched fingers hard enough to draw blood. There, he was on his feet. Zak reached out to hand Shira Varanin her medpak and slumped against her for support instead. Okay so he could mostly move.

"Gunship?" he shook his head, "Negative. Gotta go see a guy about a thing."

Zak was on a super important mission. That much he could remember. Something to do with Cotan Sar'andor Cotan Sar'andor and the fate of the entire world he was pretty sure. He tried to lead the woman where he wanted to go but found he had very little control over his body.

"Okay fine we'll swing by the gunship," the sheriff compromised, "You're like really strong, you know?"

In the end, the enemy survivors all seemed to be arrayed in a single file behind the same crashed speeder, so all she had to do was to get into position somewhere else, where she could use enfilade to fire at the whole group in a single volley. However, with the enemies in the area that seemed to have ignored Amaris Tanenat for the time being, and being entirely focused on her, it was time to let loose a volley: she had enough time for a new volley to recharge, and the armor-piercing volley of electromagnetic plasma was somehow enough to cause the cover to get blown because several plasma explosions rocked the crashed speeder, namely resulting from the shots that missed the stormies proper. The crashed speeder was blown up, causing the entire fireteam of stormies to get caught in its explosion and killing them. Yet, it was just the beginning for hunting down those that committed the financial crimes, bring them to justice and, hopefully, to get restitution for the victims (provided the proceeds haven't been spent on Faldos beforehand, at least not in their entirety).

"I'm a Jedi fething Knight," she grunted. "Of course I'm strong. Helps that you're a nice portable weakling."

Shira hustled the gutshot moron through the bombed-out hab block and into an equally bombed-out street. She squinted against the light. Clouds were parting and she dislike the glare.

Fifteen minutes came and went by the time they reached the OPA gunship. A couple of Partisan fireteams waved them through and a medic hustled Zak into the ship for evac. The repulsorlift engines were already roaring.

"I'm Shira Varanin," she said over the noise. "Look me up later if you want to, karkwit."

She stepped back as the gunship began to lift off. The day promised a lot more idiots to save.

Now that the main pirate force has suffered heavy losses, these ex-FO pirates were forced to take last-ditch action: they were using their escape pods in an attempt to capture the unfinished shield gate. However, there was just one problem: she could not order to fire at these escape pods, capturing some of their occupants may provide a clue of what made these pirates attack Pantora, or where their remaining units were patrolling. It was just a matter of catching as many escape pods as they could, knowing, however, that some of them already made it to the station. As for the fighters: those that were outfitted with cluster missiles were back to ship for rearmament. Prisoners were taken for each pod they could capture.

The big guy with the trinket lurched forward, raised his spear high above his head. Eldin's hand tightened around the butt of his blaster and a finger curled on the triggered. The spear slammed into the ice cutting through with ease and stood next to his rifle. The thick Huttese was difficult to understand, Eldin only picking up a few of the words, but something about his companions hearing something. He looked to the both, hoping to find some form of understanding on their faces, at present there was none. Maybe they were struggling too or it was simply that Eldin did not understand. But the situation appear to be cordial, there was a sense of frustration and acceptance in the body language of the leader.

"What's that about?", he spoke out the side of his mouth to his companions, hoping one of them would enlighten him.

His grip relaxed on the blaster and hands went to his hips as he shifted his weight to the left. Eldin was more than ready to get moving if these Talz do want their help, anything to get the body moving and find warmth again, even if in exercise. In the distance, he spotted more Talz, their second line of defense if it was needed. They stood and although hard to see at a distance, it was apparent there were a good hundred of them. Eldin's head swayed to the side, and he grinned knowing that had things gone another way, the three of them would be buzzard fodder by now, or whatever scavenger lived on these ice plains.

"They want our help?", he was intrigued by the Talz, and wanted to get to know more of them and about their culture. He had a feeling there was something to be learned from this race of warrior.

FULLY OPERATIONAL

At nearly pointed blank range Captain Drake's coilgun punched a clean hole through Imperial duraplast. He was no soldier but his navy issue heavy slugthrower was ideal for close quarters brawls like this one. The reactor level of the shield gate was filled with dozens of small pitched battles just like this one. He glimpsed the marine sergeant assigned to his detail bisect another stormtrooper with his vibro-saw before a hail of enemy carbine fire danced over his power armor and sent him reeling to his knees.

"Covering fire!" Atlas shouted.

The squad of Pantoran Guard they had linked up with during the fighting dispatched a precise volley of their own. Blue las bolts scythed through the Imperial ranks. Atlas dropped a few more with his accelerated shells before the sounds of battle faded as the heaviest fighting moved away from their current position. He checked to make sure his marine's wound was not fatal before leaning against a bulkhead in exhaustion as the adrenaline of life or death drained out of him.

"Good work Admiral," he activated a portable holotransmitter and raised Cathul Thuku Cathul Thuku , "We've contained their boarding crews for now. Last report from the surface was that fighting for the city is still going strong but our surface reactor is holding. Shield going up in..."

He checked his chronometer.

"Ten minutes. May the Force be with you, Therapy Command."

Agreement made, the Talz headed off into the snow on the backs of tauntauns. The speeder bikes had more than enough power to keep up, except in craggy rifts that the locals knew best.

"It's called a Seed of Rage," Quill said. A storm of compulsive fury buffeted them, but the Talz elder, Zicreg, had united their strength to resist. Light flared, deep and warm, as Quill's lightsaber punched through the Sith device. Steam hissed up from the snow.

The mental pressure vanished utterly.

"Guessing the Alliance will want to study or dispose of it - just keep it safe."
