Intent: To prepare the ASA’s primary infantry units for underwater combat
Development Thread:
Manufacturer: Geonosian Industries
Model: CS/BX-04 Aquatic modification kit
Affiliation: ASA
Modularity: No
Production: Minor
Material: Plastic, Durasteel
Description: This modification pack is designed for use with the CS/BX-04 Clanker droid, but may also be used by humanoids, but the repulsor function will not be available. It primarily consists of an underwater jetpack, but also includes modifications/replacement parts to ensure the Clanker droids are functional underwater. These reduce the weight of the droids and seal them from the elements, but leave them less agile on land as the joints have a lower range of movement.
Each pack has a main thruster, and secondary propellers that are attached to the arms to aid manoeuvrability. The unit is capable of moving a Clanker droid at 20mph. Droids deployed with this units typically work in pairs, with one droid using a Shield and blaster pistol to provide cover, and the second using a heavier weapon.
The droids can be deployed in two methods. First of all, the pack contains a single use repulsor. A droid can be dropped from an aircraft or atmospheric ship and this will fire 100m before hitting the water. This is not designed for humanoid use. The impact of the repulsor and the final velocity hitting the water would be enough to knock out, or potentially kill a humanoid.
Secondly the droids can be deployed underwater, directly from the Trident-class assault ship. The pack is not made to withstand blaster fire. Even a few pistol shots are liable to disable the unit.
