DESCRIPTION
The CJ-1 Jumpspeeder was a custom build for Imperial clients who wanted a capable combat jumpspeeder for elite planetary units. The design criteria was challenging, as the Empire wanted the riders to have speed, maneuverability, offensive capability, and protection while being able to track targets in the field and remain in communication with each other and a headquarters. Essentially, the Empire wanted everything in the package of a jumpspeeder. It was a mandate which the Tampson Consolidated designers considered to be too much packed into too small a package.

However, the Tampson Consolidated engineers were nothing if not industrious. Rather than opting for a bare-bones speeder bike frame, they went with a larger polygonal hull that tapered to preserve rider visibility, while containing enough volume for the desired equipment.

Tampson managed to fit everything they needed into their design, but there was a cost. With so much power diverted to the jumpspeeder’s many systems- including countermeasures, a ray shield, a full holocom system, a military-grade sensor system, and twin blaster cannons- they had trouble providing sufficient power to the lift repulsors.

As a consequence, the CJ-1 can only achieve a maximum altitude of 50 meters over any terrain. This doesn’t sound bad, until one considers that the bare-bones Undicur Jumpspeeder can achieve 150 meters of altitude. Fortunately, altitude minimums were not part of the design criteria. Tampson delivered the jumpspeeder, which was manufactured at the Grand Architect mobile shipyard’s vehicle factory to avoid Galactic Alliance import/export restrictions. For their part, the Empire seemed satisfied with the design, continuing to place orders to outfit their Imperial Crusader Corps.
