Cilara grew up as a beggar for the first few years of her life, her mother was an a noble who estranged both her daughter and her lover. Cilara's father was a rather loving man and taught her most things he knew, but he had little luck in finding a job. He soon took to drinking to calm his severe depression, but soon he became addicted to it and stopped bothering to find a job. Eventually in a drunken stupor, her father had managed to cross the wrong gangster and was shot and killed in an alley.
Cilara was then taken to an orphanage at the age of 4, she had no idea of where her mother was and she was mistreated in the orphanage. She was highly neglected by the caretackers and wouldn't have food some days. Eventually she was connected to her mother and they finally met each other, by this time her mother had remarried and had a new family with another noble. Her mother mostly favored her legitimate children, but she did pay attention to Cilara somewhat.It was at age 11 that Cilara's force powers began to show when she was able to lift one of her younger sister's toys, her step-father saw this as a way to separate her from the rest of the family. So one day a Jedi Master showed up to their door and brought her to Coruscant where she would learn to become a Jedi.
