The following is the historical account of the Yuuzhan Vong Empire, in the aftermath of the defeat of the Yuuzhan Vong War...
After the war...
The remaining Yuuzhan Vong fleet.
With the defeat of the Yuuzhan Vong in the galaxy, there were several divisions that reacted in different ways. While some agreed to peace, relocating to live on Zonama Sekot, others remained driven by conquest and continued to fight. A smaller number still, those who knew the defeat by the Galactic Alliance and Jedi forces had to be shared, to stop the remaining Yuuzhan Vong Empire from arriving only to be destroyed. Especially as the information and organic technology the Yuuzhan Vong outside of the galaxy had was now recognized by the Galactic forces, which would leave any arriving Yuuzhan Vong at an immediate disadvantage in confrontation.
Boarding a Yorik-stronha, a vessel dedicated to reconnaissance and perfect for escaping hostile forces to flee the galaxy, the small group of scouts did just that. Unfortunately, due to the slow nature of the vessel, the time required to traverse void between galaxies. Despite the fact that some of the traveling Yuuzhan Vong would die of old age on the journey, which was considered a disgraceful death, the sacrifice was important enough to conserve the species.
For two-hundred years the lone Yorik-stronha traveled, eventually reaching the worldships of the Yuuzhan Vong Empire in extra-galactic space; and following completion of their trial, they would become known as the Messengers of Yun'o...
Word of disaster...
Due to the extent of time required to travel through extra-galactic space, the Yuuzhan Vong scouts took near two centuries to return to what remained of the Yuuzhan Vong Empire. A dozen worldships had been held in reserve, protecting the most important parts of the species, including the young, historic chronicles and religious artifacts. When the scout Yorik-stronha made contact, the Empire rightfully believed it to be to deliver good news, and to prepare for imminent travel to the new galaxy for species relocation.
Yet the real reason was far more dire, as word of the defeat in the promised land was shared.
Shock, disbelief, accusations of loss of faith, domains threatened and some sacrificed. Those were the initial reactions by the devout species, as the most senior leadership tried to calm and focus the derision the Yuuzhan Vong now felt. With the death of the Supreme Overlord Shimrra at the hands of Luke Skywalker, several still powerful Domains immediately began scouring for positions of power, seeking to claim titles and positions within the remaining Empire.
In the end, Commander Zunodagh Ruuq, of the Warrior Caste, won his place as Supreme Overlord, establishing a new rule and pulling the remaining populace into line through strength and fanatic devotion to the Yun'o. The Priest Caste reinforced the religious zeal of the Yuuzhan Vong, while giving the messengers that had died during passage from the other galaxy suitable burial rights, wiping their disgrace of void death away. The Shaper Caste also rallied to action, working on using information provided by the remaining messengers to improve on current biots, even going so far as to delve into new development fields, to better prepare. The Warrior Caste continued to train new combatants, increasing their numbers, while working alongside their slave races to reinforce lost military numbers. The unification and dedication shown by the Yuuzhan Vong was incredible, as the Empire aligned and focused on a singular goal.
As there was no question: the Yuuzhan Vong would have revenge...

Praetorite Vong leader, Zhaelor Anor.
Preparation is vital...
The plan to rebuild, rally and invade the promised land was well underway. For hundreds of years the Yuuzhan Vong Empire grew, trained, adapted and reached a new level of power that rivaled the old Empire. To keep their instincts and prowess sharp, they explored around the promised lands galaxy, skirting its edge, in order to seek challenges in the void. Numerous centuries passed, generations were born and grew and died, but still the near single-minded focus on the Yuuzhan Vong remained.
After countless years, decades, of preparing, the leaders of the Yuuzhan Vong finally announced it was time. Under the guidance of Supreme Overlord Ysagubar Lah, the Empire's fleet, military and resources have vastly increased. And he decreed that, following a short period of pre-invasion preparation utilizing Praetorite Vong groups as vanguard elements, the second invasion of the galaxy would begin.
And so, with the final pieces falling into place, and the Yuuzhan Vong Empire traversing the void between galaxies to locate a new entry point into the previously invaded galaxy, it was time. Due to the energy disturbance that surrounded the galaxy, and fluctuations in its gaps throughout the centuries, the Yuuzhan Vong finally found a suitable entry; and through a hole near the Unknown Regions, the initial vanguard forces were sent to begin pre-invasion reconnaissance, recruitment and to establish a strong base of operations on a nearby planet.
For several years, the Yuuzhan Vong made use of the energy disturbance, sending members of the Intendant Caste through as spies and operatives. It was during this time that Zhaelor Anor, a young Yuuzhan Vong from a reputable Domain, earned respect through his deeds and dedication to be appointed leader of one of the first Praetorite Vong groups. This vanguard force, armed with a small army of warriors and slaves, Shapers and Priests, entered the galaxy and immediately investigated the remaining Vong who lived in the galaxy, co-existing peacefully, on the planet Yuuzhan'tar - a name considered blasphemy by the returning extra-galactic Yuuzhan Vong Empire...
The purpose of the visit would determine if the domesticated Vong could be used, and relied on, for what was to come.
The time has come...
According to the accounts of the Yuuzhan Vong, the time of their Empire's second-coming was the galactic year 856 ABY...
