ADVANCED SYSTEMS

Strengths:
  • Drone capable of fooling a range of sensors with false readings utilizing mimic sensor decoy technologies improved to modern standards; trickster decoy warheads allow drones to launch false fighter screens complete with their own false readings.
  • Large squadron count allows for drones to appear as considerable fleet force, complete with appropriate system/ion readings and life-sign pings, as well as adjusting holographics to display false impact and damage information if targeted, for effective reactions to enemy actions.
  • Programmable to follow set routes, maintain formations, alter holographic ship classifications, or be manually controlled by operators in-system on other vessels.
  • Capable of hyperspace travel, allowing drones to appear in-system with decoy systems active and prepared, appearing as decoy fleet on reversion to realspace with full readouts and life-signs projecting to closely match other real vessels.
Weaknesses:
  • Decoy systems not as effective in close ranges, likely resulting in mimic systems being proven false by most sensors.
  • Ranged engagement is required for decoy drones to be fully effective.
  • No weaponry on drones, purely a visual and sensory decoy method with little-to-no direct combat application.
  • System communications jamming removes manual control and reverts all drones to standard formation flight patterns, whether from friend or foe.
  • Drones have hulls and shielding ratings appropriate to their size and class - that of a starfighter.
  • Despite ionization buffer, larger vessels ion cannons will overload drone systems easily with multiple direct hits.
  • Requires transportation before launching into systems, usually on (but not limited to) Tsicah-Class Chiss Star Carriers, and out-of-system deployment can take sometime to perform and prepare.
Description:
The Decoy Drones are a well-kept secret within the Chiss Ascendancy, used within the CEDF typically on flagships and command vessels with hangar space, and primarily serves as an enhanced decoy system for fooling enemy forces. The drones themselves can be programmed to follow set paths or formations, allowing them to work concurrently with CEDF fleets without resources put toward maintaining them; however the drones can also be manually controlled if required, to serve specific formation or maneuvering purposes. Yet, if there is communications jamming in the area, the drones are unable to receive manual commands, and revert to inherently programmed fleet movements.

Equipped with a variety of Chiss-created sensor disrupting systems, as well as advanced holographic and false data projectors, the Decoy Drones are made for a sole purpose - to fool the enemy for as long as possible. Each drone is capable of mimicking a range of ships, from starfighters, corvettes and battlecruisers. With the trickster decoy projectiles, the drones are able to launch multiple false decoys of smaller ships, such as visual fighter screens that also give off false readings, which assist in maintaining the facade for as long as possible.

All in all, an effective mimic/decoy squadron of ships, used specifically for deceptive maneuvers and distraction purposes by the CEDF fleet; though lacking weaponry, and having starfighter class hulls and shielding, limits combat application and close ranges will give away the decoy effects.
