Location: Ran Dom Kuun, Cathar

​

The sun of the planet hung high over the savannah that loomed below Ran Dom Kuun. The Knight Si had an idea. A simple idea, but hopefully effective. Ko was one to rely on his force powers, and she wanted the challenge that.

"Alright Ko Vuto , today we're gonna do something special. Rule of the day, no force powers. Understood?"

After the last time Ko was here he was extra cautious. Having just scrubbed himself clean in a shower, Kel Dor was still practically dripping wet by the time he met up with Jonyna. Wanting to do everything in his power to remove any and all odor of skuma leaves from his body. Not that he even handled any since the festival.

Listening to his master’s words Ko raised a brow. “But… I don’t know how I can turn off some of the more passive Force Powers…” Ko replied, practically pondering out loud. “Well what was it that you had in mind?”

Jonyna had let her little pet raycon wander the tree idly, knowing the people of her home would take care of it. "Simple. Catch Guffy."

Where was Guffy? That was a good question. He'd wandered off into the massive branches of the tree.

Now hearing the actual objective for the day Ko looked away and into the rest of the massive tree. Pointing into the mass of branches he turned his head back to Jonyna and asked. “I’m guessing he’s out there isn’t he?” Already knowing the answer.

Ko slumped his shoulders some at the task ahead of him. Thinking back to the prior experience of catching Pip with Ryana mina in the temple. As well as his days in Agricorp catching varmints. Letting out a sigh the Kel Dor readied himself a long day of likely running around in circles. Bending his legs like he was ready to perform a powerful jump into the canopy, he remembered the one rule and stopped himself from breaking it so soon. With that in mind the padawan simply began to run off into the wooden maze.

The crowd of city-tree was vibrant and energetic at this time of day. Children ran about and teens seemed to be surfing the branches to their assorted locations. Shops were open, and adult Denik wandered about.

But where was the Raycon?

A ringtail could be spotted off in the distance, climbing the massive trunk of the tree about 3 stories above the shops.

It would be one thing if he was hunting down this varmint in just an ordinary large tree. But instead Ran Dom Kuun was a city as well. Housed to countless people adding an extra layer of hustle and bustle for him to try and see through for his target. Most frustrating of all was that he couldn’t use the Force to sense Guffy’s familiar essence either. At least not actively.

On the bright side however, Ko has been spending enough time now within the embracing branches of the tree and among its inhabitants that he didn’t feel like as much of an outsider. Sure he got plenty of looks but that wasn’t unusual for him if he’s somewhere away from coruscant or similarly diverse city planets.

Eventually something did catch his eye, spotting it through his goggles. Peering up at the massive trunk of the tree and seeing the familiar ring tailed creature. “Got’cha!” He said before rushing off through the crowd to get to a higher position. Making sure to not lose track of the raycon now that he had them in his sight.

It took a bit but soon enough Ko made enough vertical progress that he was quickly closing the distance on Guffy. Using hsi clawed hands to climb to them from some branches. Almost losing his balance as one of them snapped under his weight. But he was close now, and Ko reached out with his hand to try and knab the creature with his hand. "Erg, Just... come here Guffy... I'll give you one of Jonyna's steaks if you stop running." He said attempt to betray his master if it meant being able to more easily complete his objective.

The Raycon seemed to stare down at Ko, chittering at the Kel Dor. He didn't seem to understand the basic being said to him.

And off he went, higher up into the canopy.

“Ugh!, Get back here you little varmit!” Ko said as he began to try and chase after the troublesome Raycon. However, as he did and put a lot of his weight down on a dry dead branch. The wooden limb snapping off beneath his feet. Instantly falling back down and widening the gap between himself and Guffy. But by this point Ko wasn’t concerned with catching Jonyna’s pet anymore.

Ko flailed his arms about some to try and grab something but didn’t manage to before his body collided with a branch, and then another branch, and another. The Kel Dor getting knocked around during his fall. On the bright side it kept breaking his fall. On the other hand he got hit a bunch and it was making him dizzy.

Eventually he reached a bit of a clearing in his fall with a much larger branch rapidly closing in on Ko. To avoid hitting it too hard he quickly used The Force to shield himself and cousin his fall right before he hit the hardwood and practically bounced off of the slippery branch.

Finally Ko got lucky as his back hit something not so dangerous. Crashing into a bunch of water that had pooled up into a particularly large bowl like a leaf. The young Kel Dor idly floated to the surface. The realization of the danger of what just happened hitting him and making his body feel like jelly. Hoping that nobody saw what just happened to him. Also wondering where he was, dreading that he just fell into someone’s swimming pool.

A small cathar girl poked her head over the lip of the leaf, looking concerned.

"...do you need help?" She asked, in broken basic.

Hearing their words Ko’s gaze shifted over to the girl. Other than the fact that his back stung from the landing he would say he was alright. Ko really just needed to recompose himself after such a blunder. “I’m alright, but thank you little one.” The Kel Dor said before swimming over to the edge of the leaf where the cathar girl was.

Pulling himself out of the water he felt a sudden soreness in one of his arms. Figuring that he might’ve pulled something during all his frantic flailing a moment ago. Ko began to look himself over just to make sure there weren’t any hidden injuries. Concerned that he was going to feel all wet and miserable now until he can get a change of robes. The Padawan let out a tired sigh...

The girl, a brown haired cathar who seemed to only be about 6, looked the padawan up and down. "You sure? What exactly are you trying to do?"

Hearing the girl’s question he let out a sigh. “I’m supposed to be catching a Raycon.” He said looking over at her before realizing she might not know that those are. “It’s a fuzzy ring-tailed creature. Not from here. It’s my Master’s pet and she has tasked me with catching him.” Ko explained, hoping she understood what he was saying. But I wouldn't be surprised if the small girl didn’t really know, after all her basics weren't too great.

"Umm you wouldn't happen to know how if there is a fast way of going up the tree would you?"

"Oh! There's the" She used a cathar word, pointing to the trunk of the massive tree that made up the city. "Follow me!"

And with that, she was off, without ever looking back to Ko to check if he was actually following.

The what? He looked to where the girl was pointing. It seemed to be towards the tree’s trunk, or the trunk itself. "The What?" Thanks to the unfamiliar word he wasn’t quite sure what she was trying to lead him to as she ran off.

At first Ko struggled to keep up, his legs still felt like jelly from the exhilarating fall he just took but soon enough he managed to follow behind the feline girl. He was still soaking wet however, which caught a few looks from the locals. Or it was just from the fact that there was some odd looking alien running around the tree with some little girl.​

Some locals seem to chuckle, some whisper as he followed the small child, who led him up to a small crook in the bark that led all the way up the height of the tree, which she gestured to, while speaking that word again that Ko Vuto as she pointed to it. "Just climb up and you'll be there!"
