NAME: Rodo Mass
FACTION: The Galactic Republic
RANK: Jedi Knight
SPECIES: Droid
AGE: 115
GENDER: Male
HEIGHT: 6'4
WEIGHT: 300 lbs
EYES: Green photoreceptor
HAIR: None
SKIN: Silver metallic plating
FORCE SENSITIVE: Yes

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum) :
Strengths: Genius-level intellect, master strategist, heavy armament
Weaknesses: Capable of being stopped by EMP attacks, weak against Force-based electric attacks

Armament:

Lightsaber - Crafted by Rodo after being knighted, it uses a Durindfire crystal, giving off a silver sheen. There are two reasons why Rodo chose the crystal. The first is that it represents the Jedi to him, and the second is that signifies his being as a droid. He also considers the lightsaber the signature representation of bringing freedom to droids in the Galaxy.

Electrostaff - The electrostaff is an electronic melee weapon constructed of lightsaber-resistant phrik alloy equipped with electromagnetic pulse-generating tips. Though some staffs could penetrate and neutralize ray shields, most were simply used as blunt-force melee weapons. They were designed to be longer than most lightsaber blades, enabling the user to fight Jedi while remaining out of the Jedi's range.

RD-4 grenade launcher - The RD-4 grenade launcher, also known as the Radiation Launcher, is a type of heavy grenade launcher that is manufactured by Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc. The weapon throws poisonous, green colored grenades at a target.

ZX miniature flame projector - When triggered, the ZX produces a cone of fire five meters long and one meter in diameter. A corded fuel line connected to a backpack canister holding fuel for three minutes of operation. The flamethrower itself is powered by a source not located on the wrist.

NJP-433 Personal Jet Pack - The jetpack is an aerial personal transportation device in limited use across the galaxy. A jetpack offers a great degree of mobility in the air, though often at the personal risk of the user.

DLT-19 heavy blaster rifle - The DLT-19 is not as popular or as well-known as the standard-issue E-11 blaster rifle, because it takes longer to assemble and load. However the DLT-19 is much more powerful and has a much greater range than the E-11 model, and is sometimes modified for use as a sniper rifle. In this configuration it can shoot down swoops or even light airspeeders.

Sonic stunner - The sonic stunner is a weapon that could stun or send a sonic charge that could damage most sentient ears and the brain.

Computer input port - A computer is a basic form of electronic hardware used in many appliances throughout the galaxy, from droids to starfighters. The port allows a droid to connect to any computer and add files to it's memory bank.

Tau/Zeiss telescopic sniperscope - Coming from the company of Tau/Zeiss, they are one of the Galaxy's greatest optic lenses for droids, allowing them to see anything from X1 to X100, holding it's zero through any range of adjustment or weather. It also possesses etched durasteel and neural implant reticle.

Function is a modified Aggressor Assault Fighter, in which it is used for combat during naval warfare. Its mass is significantly greater than most starfighters and the majority of the interior space is consumed by the engines and weapon systems. The forward cockpit section contains a weapons locker and a small maintenance area, which are directly behind the pilot's station. Behind the cockpit is located the sensor and communications array and further behind were the central power cores.

Located in the middle of the ship is the prisoner hold. This is the only area of the ship that contains any life support systems. It has room for up to eight captives and features a single stasis tube for keeping any critically injured captives alive. The hold also contains a small med bay that is equipped with an old FX-7 medical droid. Rodo had also installed a small interrogation room when he joined the Empire, only to use if captured prisoners had information he needed.

BIOGRAPHY: Rodo was created years ago, before the Clone Wars, serving as an assassin-class droid to picking off petty criminals that owed money to his former master, a Hutt. He had become the top assassin of his type that eventually, he was placed within his master's organization in a high position. Serving him, he eventually found the Jedi taking his master and the organization down. Since he was a droid and had been programmed to serve, he was placed in custody of the Jedi and turned off permanently.

Years later, he found himself awake, not in the hands of the Jedi as he had expected, but serving under Mak Manto, who was under the control of a Sith Master, Malic. He had been found by Malic and with rebooting him, he created nine other droids to serve under Rodo, while he would serve Malic. The Sith had given him many tasks to complete, such as taking down small governments and assassinating high-profile beings.

Though, it wasn't until six months later that he had finally come under his own control. Gaining sentience allowed him to see the truth in what he was doing. When his team had found out he wasn't under anybody's orders, they had attempted to destroy him, but Rodo, with his new freedom, outsmarted the others and killed them. When he returned to Malic, he had come up with a plan to assassinate him.

Yet, fate was cruel. Malic had orchestrated an entire lie that he was happy to see Rodo free. He also had said he wasn't a Sith. Rodo had believed it, and due to his naivete, he had believed it and found himself knocked out. When he was reawakened a third time, he still was sentient, but Malic now had complete control of him. Every action was Malic's to make.

With no more purpose for the droid to follow him, he had ordered Rodo to serve the Empire in a more fitting fashion in the Imperial Navy.

He became a Commander in the Imperial Navy, working hard to prove himself in a setting where aliens were seen lower than Humans, and where droids were not worth anything. Despite this, he showed he was a true asset to the Empire, serving on a Super Star Destroyer before he was given the opportunity to build his own warship.

As he rose in the ranks, Malic eventually was brought back into Mak's mind, and with Mak freeing Rodo, he decided to leave the Empire, forming his own opinions of how droids needed freedom. Becoming a bounty hunter, he took a deep hatred to the Jedi, hunting after them, until he joined a fledgling faction of droids that were trying to gain freedom. Spearheading the faction, they fought on Nubia against the Jedi, but before they could win, they surprised Rodo with what they did.

Unleashing an EMP device on the planet, they fried the circuits of tens of thousands of droids. Seeing this as a genocide, Rodo decided to up the attacks on the Jedi before he finally learned from Mak that Malic was in control of his body. Still holding a grudge, Rodo decided to stop, but he continued to help droids.

It wasn't until the Galactic Crusade where he would prove himself. When Imperial forces were in space over Naboo, holding the planet technically arrested, he brought his ship due to Mak's call for help into the battle, sending it and destroying a star destroyer which crashed into another star destroyer. Though, when his ship blew up, he was thrown out into space, and after several fighters blew up parts of his body, he was sent to the planet's surface, broken.

He was eventually helped by a former Imperial who gave him a new body, but with this experience, he began to question what he was doing. It was at this point he was given an opportunity to collect a heavy credit deal in exchange for bringing back a rare Force artifact:

A shard of the Kaiburr Crystal...

While returning it to the buyer, he was attacked by pirates who also wanted it and after a lengthy battle where he killed them, his body was nearly destroyed. Placing himself in a new body along with his mind, he reprogrammed himself so he wouldn't die. Upon awakening, he came to see the shard still with him. Bringing it to the buyer, Rodo became interested in what he saw with the power.

Immediately, he began to study on the Force, trying to understand it, but without the power, he was limited in his ways. Making his way across the Galaxy, he went to certain species who were naturally sensitive, trying to learn from them, but it wasn't until he came to the planet Orax where something occurred that Rodo would never have expected.

Coming to speak to the Shards, seeing how they were non-organic and used droid bodies to use the Force, Rodo felt they might explain to him the way they used the Force, but as he came to them, a group of Iron Knights, droids controlled by the Shards, were attacked by the Sith. With a full out brawl ensuing, Rodo engaged against the Sith, fighting alongside the Shards, helping to stop the attack.

Though, a casualty came from it, where a young Shard, without a droid body, was dealt a serious injury. Rodo, knowing it wouldn't live without some form to hold onto. Speaking to it, the Shard gave Rodo permission to place himself in his body. When it did, the Shard's essence fused with Rodo's, and in return, the droid was capable of using the Force.

The Shard, still alive, fell in and out of comas, never knowing if it would die. Nursing it back to health, it soon taught Rodo that he could become a Jedi Knight. In awe of the power he had, Rodo decided the best course would be to head to the Jedi Council.

After coming to Naboo and joining, he began training under Kacius Porte to hone his skills. At this time as well, Rodo also bridged relationships with Mak Manto, beginning a friendship. As he eventually became a Jedi Knight, Rodo began to see that there was a chance, as a Jedi, that he could help droids and the Galaxy in his new found setting.

Though, after Mak was arrested and place in cryostasis, things began to fall apart. He soon learned that the Empire was returning to taking slaves, and so with a mission on Mygeeto, he went to stop the Imperials, but after the mission was botched and several Rebels were killed, Rodo resigned, heading to the Unknown Regions to serve his punishment that he felt.

As the centuries passed, Rodo stayed where he was, never caring to learn more, but after hearing of the virus that almost destroyed the Galaxy and the return of the Galactic Republic, Rodo felt it was a chance once more for him to do what he could. A new adventure awaits for the droid who can harness the Force, but unbeknownst to him, he's about to face his darkest trials yet...

I know someone will say it, so before they do, Rodo is not breaking any rules on this site by being Force-sensitive and a droid, and there is an example of a droid using the Force in the Star Wars universe, so it's not new.

I would be curious as to the link for a Force Sensitive droid, as the only droid I know of who was ever described as using the Force was an R5-D4 unit named Skippy, which is not canonical.

As well, as noted by Emberli, we have someone who already claimed the weapon.

Just because it exists as a story is not canon proof of its authenticity. We have stories of Santa Claus, but that doesn't make him real. Stories have a way of getting changed with each retelling. In the present Star Wars canon, there have been no mention of droids that could use the Force.

While Skippy may not be canon, the legend of Skippy is canon. This is a story within the Star Wars universe that is canon.

What I would recommend hon, is to use the species creation tech template, and really work on getting a good write up on the why, how, and what not on why a specific type of droid etc etc, can use the Force.

If you make a good story out of it, look into wookieepedia for resources in terms of materials, methods, background story and the like, it is probable that you can come up with a species / tech droid that can fit your Rodo Mass Template.

Just have to work a bit harder to create it; but not completely improbable.

But once again, the rules say nothing about my character being like this. He's not breaking any rules.
It's that it's not a canon species hon. Folk have been told that if it is not on wookieepedia as a species, then they can use the Foundry as the method to create new original character concepts that can be approved by the RPJ's -- like the Resu or Morje for example.

Just takes a bit more effort, but not impossible. :)

*Just as armaments and vehicles, droids must be approved as a model and design before they can be utilized within and/or as a profile character. In addition, droid profiles, whether as a main character or companion character, may still be submitted as their own profile or within The profile of The character they support, whichever The case may be
So you would need to get this approved through tech.

Why are things so difficult on this site...?

When I created my characters, there were no restrictions or approvals needed. It just RPing...

As there is no evidence within Star Wars canon of a droid that uses the Force, this isn't something we could accept presently. And while we try to have rules covering everything, the simple fact is we can't cover every possible thing. When we look into things to accept or deny, one of the things we look at is what Star Wars canon says. Midichlorians are key to using the Force. As midichlorians are found inside living cells, there's nothing in the Wookiepedia that would suggest they could be used in a droid.

As Sirella has noted, you can always take to the Factory and attempt to write up an entry in there on a Force-using Droid. But without that, we're left with what we can read from the Wookiepedia.

Understand that we're not intentionally trying to make things difficult. But there is a process we go through to ensure that things are fair for the community as a whole. As part of this effort, we look to the Wookiepedia for what's been done, and we then offer the Factory as a means of changing that base.

After talking to Ayden, instead of creating a new species, I'm going to change my bio around so it fits. I'll be working with a Shard, seeing they're Force-sensitive, but instead of a sentient Shard who has control, Rodo's history will be working with a Shard that almost died and Rodo takes it in, gaining control of the Force, but still keeping his consciousness.

Ayden and I spoke on it, and he's alright with the idea.
