Character Suggestions for Imperial Knight

Hello all,
I am totally new to the board. (Well I had been a member like 5 or 6 years ago but have been totally inactive after a brief stint here.) I am looking to get back into RPing online.
I have two questions however,
1) I want to create a character for the New Imperial Order as an Imperial Knight. So I have to start out as a squire?.. Could my rank be a little higher than that starting out? (I don't want to create a young character..)
2) What suggestions would you have for someone who is JUST starting out to create a decent character for the Imperial Order as an Imperial Knight. Ideas, suggestions??

1) You can start out as any rank that you would like. For example, I started out as an Errant Knight and did not start as a squire. The only one you could not start out as is the High Commander since that is essentially the "Grandmaster" of our order. So you do you in this regard. Totally open!

2) It is up to you but I will try and offer some suggestions. The NIO are more militarized so you definitely want to have a soldier like mentality. If you are of higher rank then you would have, most likely, demonstrated discipline ( Get used to this word cause our fearless leaders loves it ) and an aptitude for battle. One of the fun things about the NIO is you can really toe the line and make a true "grey" character. For example, Corran is the son of a former Grandmaster of the Jedi Order and he is disillusioned with the Jedi but he is not evil so he did not want to become a Sith. In my personal story I am trying to tell a tale of a young man struggling with his identity and trying to find his place in the world. For him, the discipline offered by the NIO is the perfect balance between being a Jedi and living a code or being a Sith and being seen as "evil". ( I do not consider Sith evil just an example.) So for him I get to navigate the world of structure presented by the military minded Imperial Knights while at the same time getting to explore my force powers with strict oversight but not Jedi strict, if that makes sense.

The possibilities for an Imperial Knight are quite large, IMO. You can have someone who wants to really be seen as a "warrior" while also not being corrupted by the darkside or having to quell your power for the sake of good. You can really branch out and explore the force in a unique way that is not always available as a Jedi or a Sith. Do note that I am not saying it is impossible, but it is much easier to kind of go in and explore that middle ground with the Imperial Knights.

Personally, I suggest breaking away from the black vs white (Sith vs Jedi) story that so heavily influences Star Wars. Be down to explore more down to earth, or maybe far more questionable action. How far are YOU willing to go to bring Order to the galaxy? Personally, I'm exploring a character who's a complete philosophical whacko, inspired heavily by pulp fantasy authors. The philosophy of Jedi/Sith is limiting to me, so I'm using this to play a Warrior-Philosopher striving to become King of his homeworld while bringing it entirely into the fold of the New Imperial Order.

Endless possibilities, you need only the imagination to come up with something fun and unique.
