- Description: Representing Chandrila’s land-based defensive assets, the Chandrilan System Defense Army comprises the graduates of military academies and a swath of home-built equipment– including firearms and a limited complement of armored vehicles and dropships. While working in concert with elements of the Chandrilan Defense Fleet, the Army can be deployed to a variety of positions around the planet, be it to address pirate activity, civil strife, or in a worst case scenario, a hostile invasion.

- Goals: The Chandrilan Army is bound to the duty of protecting their homeworld, be it through peacekeeping operations on their own soil or through sorties into neighboring space. The force serves as Chandrila’s last line of defense should its orbital assets be disabled.
- Reputation: While the goal and cause of the Army has gained traction among Chandrila’s population, the actual nature of the force is a topic analyzed with great unease amongst politicians and civilians alike. There exists a feeling of unwillingness to develop the Chandrilan Army any further, and at times a desire to replace it with a more traditional security and police force, individuals citing the ultimately offensive purpose of a traditional army and a conflict with Chandrila’s defining doctrine of a robust defense.

- Home-Front Defense Force: The most numerous specialization within the Chandrilan System Defense Army, members of the Home-Front Defense Force are charged with the army’s most defining duties– guarding land-based military installations and addressing threats that arrive on the planet. Without a constant threat of ground invasion, and the relative strength of the Chandrilan Defense Fleet guarding the system, members of the force can expect to see little combat throughout their careers.
- Orbital Defense Corps: Rather than being stationed in Chandrila’s orbit as their name would suggest, the Orbital Defense Corps was tasked with operation of Chandrila’s ground-to-space missile emplacements and cannons upon its founding. As the years have passed, their duties have expanded to staffing installations on the planet’s moons and a limited series of dedicated satellites.
- Mobile Infantry: While the Home-Front Defense Force is larger in terms of membership, the Mobile Infantry carries with it an arguably greater presence. Operating from a fleet of Chandrilan transports, the Mobile Infantry can be dispatched to anywhere within the Bormea System if deemed necessary, addressing the most pirate activity and otherwise seeing more combat than their Home-Front counterparts.

- At the setting of the Galactic Alliance’s long conflict with the One Sith and their empire, Adrtanti would return to her homeworld, resigning a military commision in the GADF to take control of the emerging Chandrilan System Defense Army. Already carrying ample experience in conflict, her oversight has been ample in motivating numerous changes in the Army’s structure, seeing to the creation of a variety of support branches and the rise of a greater working relationship with the Defense Fleet.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
When compared with the long-standing history of its counterpart in the Chandrilan Defense Fleet, the System Defense Army is a far more recent development in the grander galaxy. Reorganized from elements of the Chandrilan Security Force in the closing years of the Galactic Alliance’s Stygian Campaign, the Army was built amidst a state of disarray. Reeling from a long period of occupation by the Sith Empire, a movement of modernization and restrained militarization began to spread throughout the ranks of a newly founded Defense Command. In addition to the build-up of Chandrila’s navy, the System Defense Army would be founded to address problems arising on the planet’s own home soil and territory, clearing the last bastions of Sith resistance, and combating a wave of piracy that sought to take advantage of Chandrila’s weakened defenses.
In the years following the end of the Stygian Campaign and the Sith’s fall, oversight of the Army’s development fell to General Adrtanti Dallie, a veteran of the conflict and one of the chief minds behind the force’s initial development. Under General Dallie, the System Defense Army adopted its current configuration, seeing the introduction of both the Orbital Defense Corps and the Mobile Infantry into service. The latter organization would serve to most significantly characterize the strength of the Army in the public eye, seeing a variety of military successes on the frontiers of Chandrilan-held and Bormean territory, driving pockets of pirates and lingering Sith sympathizers from the system.
But, in recent years, the galaxy has changed. The circumstances that once motivated the creation of the CSDA have begun to disappear. The Alliance’s new theat, the Brotherhood of the Maw has shown its lack of need to touch down on Chandrila’s surface, to hold the planet under yet another occupation. For Csilla’s destruction came not at the end of a long sweep across its surface, but through the employment of a massive superweapon in orbit. With these concerns rising to the highest echelons of Chandrilan society, there have been calls to demilitarize and cut down on the Army, rather investing military resources in the Chandrilan Defense Fleet and Starfighter Corps.
Yet, despite the utterances of Defense Command and of the Chandrilan people, the System Defense Army stands to protect and preserve the safety of its planet for as long as it exists.
