DESCRIPTION
Ceraplast is a sophisticated ceramic composite developed by the Vandemarian Techwrights as a lighter alternative to the immense structural protection offered by Vandemarian Adamant. Derived from advanced ceramic compounds and reinforced through proprietary Vandemarian manufacturing techniques, Ceraplast combines exceptional hardness and compressive strength with extraordinary resistance to heat and energy. Its layered composition disperses thermal energy and absorbs the effects of blaster fire, plasma exposure, and other high-temperature weapons, making it particularly valuable for armour, vehicle plating, heat shielding, and other applications where protection against energy weapons is paramount. Unlike Adamant, its lower density permits it to be employed extensively across larger surfaces without imposing the same extreme weight burden, making it the more practical protective material for the majority of Vandemarian military equipment.
Ceraplast's advantages nevertheless come with the inherent limitations of advanced ceramics. While highly resistant to heat and energy, it is considerably less tolerant of severe kinetic shock; sufficiently powerful impacts can produce fractures, spalling, or catastrophic cracking rather than deformation. Its rigid structure is also susceptible to precisely tuned sonic frequencies capable of inducing resonance within the material. Once structurally fractured, Ceraplast cannot simply be reforged and generally requires replacement of the damaged section. Its production remains technically demanding, requiring the expertise of Vandemarian Techwrights to achieve the precise layering and thermal treatment necessary for military-grade material. Properly employed, Ceraplast therefore serves as a complementary material to Adamant rather than a replacement for it: lighter and exceptionally resistant to energy and heat, but less capable of enduring the raw physical punishment that Adamant is designed to withstand.
