Strengths:
- Brawler: The CC-9840-class Frigate is well armored, and reasonably maneuverable and well armed. It is an excellent ship at getting in close and staying there, trading shots with similarly sized vessels and harassing larger ones.
- Poor Pursuit: With a small hanger and comparatively low speed, the CC-9840 is not a great pursuit ship. Utilized in anti-piracy operations, it's better off engaging targets at close range than hanging back and guarding carriers or chasing down smaller vessels.
DESCRIPTION
The production model CC-9840 class Heavy Frigate is designed a frontline brawling ship, a durable and reasonably versatile vessel that is a welcome addition to any local government fleet. While the overall model is designed after the venerable CC-7700 of Galactic Civil War fame, the CC-9840 eschews any sort of interdictor systems in favor of simply being a general purpose line frigate. Featuring a pair of spinal mount heavy tubolasers in the nose for a good first strike capability, it sports an armament otherwise focused around powerful broadsides. For some added utility, and to ensure the spinal mount turbolasers see some use, a large sensor pod is mounted adjacent, giving the ship a respectable long-range scanning ability.
A remarkably durable vessel with generous crew requirements, respectable armament, good sensors and even a small hanger, the CC-9840 sees widespread use across the galaxy.
