Caught in a Typhoon, Leaving Here Dead or Alive (Amber)

Watcher Three, Commodore of Typhoon Squadron, was... taking a nap. In his command chair. And nobody said anything about it. His bridge crew was used to his eccentricities, and the "old man's nap" was one of the playful jabs they always gave him about those odd qualities he exhibited so often. They wouldn't wake him up unless there was an alert somewhere in the asteroid field around them.

And then a scout ship came roaring past them, nearly colliding with the Spyglass before continuing in a straight line towards the outer parts of the Vergesso asteroid cluster. It was on fire. Byaela poked Watcher in the shoulder, disrupting his 'nap'... He heard people shouting about a scout ship with a dead pilot... And then...

"Commodore, it's crashed. And we've confirmed that both crewers aboard were dead."

Amber's head was buzzing loudly and her vision was clouded by what appeared to be clouds. They weren't clouds which was both good and bad. It meant she wasn't struck by lightning. Amber was nauseated and then grabbed onto what she thought was a wall and hauled herself upwards. Her hand was guiding her along the wall which was on her right and then she felt a sticky and kinda slimy substance and then she looked at it. Blood, it was blood. From the outside, the ship wasn't badly damaged it was grazed by the flaming ship but something happened with the fire blowing up one of the three thrusters making damage rocket through the ship like, a rocket. Amber's head kept on buzzing wildly so she might have gotten some type of concussion. She couldn't remember exactly where or what she was doing and she felt a sharp pain on her right side. She put a arm to her side and then went along the length of the wall, seeing some dead people but mostly people rendered unconscious although their was on person awake of who she couldn't recognize. The person was sending out a distress signal. Amber looked down at her right side again hearing a crack. The white tanktop that she was wearing was mostly still white except for her right side. Their was a hole their and around it, it was splattered with her own blood. Amber kept on feeling constant pain until she sunk to the ground. How had everything gone so....so....wrong.

Watcher stood up. The distress signal came through to his 'Net receiver before it hit the Spyglass' comm unit. He turned to Byaela, and nodded towards the sensor station she was at, "Where's that signal coming from? It's possible that the scout ship collided with somebody else before it hit that rock. See if we can get to the other ship fast enough to save it. If we can't, tractor it in anyway and see if they have survivors aboard."

The young man at the helm called out, "Cruising speed, Commodore. Automated point defense is set to target any asteroids in our flight path."

The Typhoon Commodore smiled indulgently at the guy and nodded, "Very good, Ensign. Just send us flying straight after that distress signal. Maybe kick it up a little from cruising speed. Who knows what's happening on that ship right now..."

Amber hoped that no one else would die. She soon regretted that thought just as something exploded from within the ship, breaking some circuits and causing some fires which burned and killed some of the unconscious members of the crew. Amber couldn't believe what she was witnessing, was this really happening right now or was it just some type of nightmare she would wake up from at any moment? She soon figured out it wasn't a dream by feeling actual, not dream-like pain course through her right side. Amber crawled across the wrecked floor of the ship as best as she could and she tried to figure out who it was that was at the command console, closing airlocks and doing other stuff trying to save the crew. It was none other than Rick, one of her few best friends that went on this 'journey' with her to find out something. Rick had a shaft of ragged steel embedded through his shoulder possible from a explosion. The steel looked like some large piece of shrapnel that somehow found his shoulder. Rick suddenly collapsed, his arms draped over the command console. Amber gasped in shock, fear, and sadness. W-was he....dead?

Watcher grew a little frustrated, neither at the ensign at the helm, nor at his lovely Spyglass herself, but at the situation. There was a huge asteroid barreling towards them, not far from the damaged ship that had sent out the distress signal. Wincing as he eased himself into his command chair and hooked into the firing computer for the point defense system, he slowly counted down, timing the last second where both they and the damaged ship would be safe from shrapnel, "Ten... Nine... Eight..."

The asteroid rotated, and the flaming ship was quite visible now. The commodore felt what might have been described a heart-wrenching sadness if he had been an organic being, "Seven... Six... Five..."

Somebody near him screamed in horror as an engine ripped a hole in the outside of the flaming ship. Watcher gritted his teeth and tightened his grip on the firing control, "Four... Three... Two..."

He hoped to the Maker that his tractor beam crews got the little ship before it was beyond rescue, "One..."

The ship was out of view now, but they would be seeing it soon. Very soon..., "Zerooooooooo- FIRE!"

The asteroid exploded, just as Watcher had predicted: Safely out of the way of both ships. He shouted into the intercom, "Tractor beams, now!"

The beams locked, and the little ship came towards the main hangar of the Spyglass. Watcher belted on a couple of combat knives and gestured towards the ensign before unhooking himself from the firing computer, "Helm, full stop. Byaela, Criggs, come with me."

And so, the three best combat officers in the Typhoon Squadron walked towards a threat they did not yet get to assess. If this whole matter was one of sabotage, the saboteur was likely armed and dangerous, or at least alive to be questioned. All would become clear... maybe.

Amber looked around for her revolver which she stole from Carlos. No, she didn't steal it more like helped saves people's lives cause Carlos was a Psycho. She grabbed her fallen revolver stuck between two floor plates and pulled it out. She put it within the back pocket of her leather pants and then used the wall for support to try and do her best to get over to Rick's fallen body. She barely made it over to him before collapsing to her knees due to her wounded side and then she tried to crawl towards Rick. She brought his body down from the console and tried to shake him awake. His eyes opened up all of the sudden and they were bloodshot. Amber jumped when he suddenly opened up his eyes but then he looked towards Amber with a pathetic but adorable smile on his face. He reached to his bloody, cut up left hand and pulled off a golden star ring and placed it in Amber's extended open palm. He then clasped her hand closed over the ring.
"A-amber......b-be.....stro-on......."
Amber saw the life drain from his eyes and then she saw his body fall limp. She tried her best to hold back some tears but then she just collapsed crying on his body. She couldn't believe that he was gone, it seemed like only yesterday he was teaching her and watching her do her very first tattoo on a client. Oh the memories. Amber then couldn't take the pain in her right side anymore and fell unconscious. By then, she began to think that she was lousing tons of blood, not literally tons though just a lot of blood. Soon, her vision and mind faded to black as she went unconscious.

As Watcher wrenched open the boarding ramp and drew his combat knife, he wondered what had happened to the ship they'd just picked up. Byaela and Criggs followed their commodore up the ramp, and almost knocked him over when he stopped short. The HRD could feel that something was missing... something... sound! He didn't hear any breathing except from his two subordinates. Breathing was usually a habit that organics liked to keep up. He looked at Byaela and ordered, "Scan for lifeforms. Somebody has got to be-"

And he heard breathing... shallow breathing, like the person was unconscious, but it was breathing... He looked down and saw a blue-haired girl lying on the ground, bleeding out. Watcher reached through the hole in the side of her shirt and stuck a medseal on the wound under it. Without hesitating, he put away his knife and picked her up in his arms, with the air of sadness that came with the thought that this person was probably the only survivor of the collision.

By the time he got to sickbay, the medseal was already almost soaked through. He pulled it off and saw only blood. That was good. At least it wasn't infected or anything. He ordered the ship's doctor over to the cot the girl was on, and took a seat right next to where he'd put her down. There was only one person who could tell him what happened, and that was this blue-haired girl with the gash in her side.

Amber moved slightly in the cot she was on. Her right hand was still clasped around the golden star ring that was covered in Rick's blood but her grip was loosening due to her being unconscious. Amber mumbled something under her breath but she didn't even know what she was saying cause you know, unconscious. Amber let out a moan of pain even though she was unconscious. Just because she was unconscious didn't mean she couldn't still feel the pain which was like unbearable. She flinched slightly as the doctor worked and as the doctor slowly took out a large piece of glass stuck in her side. Amber was breathing shallowly and a bit faster as the doctor was trying to get the piece of glass out. Will, at least she wasn't awake to see it.
