Description: On Katarr, Cathul realized the necessity to have some means to engage Sith Lords from long range, since she discovered that the effective range of her own spells was way too short (10-20m depending on the spell) to engage Force-users with magic without being exposed to enemy spells. Due to the use of songsteel, it grants the weapon lightsaber resistance. Also, since 7.62x54mmR rounds are rather common bullets on the open market, both of the armor-piercing and regular varieties, it allows the user to use it in both anti-personnel roles and anti-materiel roles, at the same time. However, in an anti-materiel role, even the armor-piercing variety won't pierce overly thick armor, in which case it would be better to rely on rail guns or on anti-materiel rifles, firing 12.7x108 bullets, or particle-beam weapons, for that sort of missions. But, as a slugthrower, it is actually rather vanilla among guns that could fire 7.62x54mmR rounds: its muzzle velocity of 875 m/s does not make it able of much better penetration or accuracy than other slugthrowers of this caliber that aren't lightsaber-resistant. For this reason, it should be used only when the presence of Force-users is strongly suspected on a battlefield.
