Catcher in the Ra

Flinx brought the Kyber Dragon out of hyperspace to find a ship broken down. BB-3 scans the ship and finds a sign of life but it is very weak. I don an old clone trooper suit and tether myself to my ship. I float over.

Ra's old YT-1300 was on its last breath when it finally broke down. Only the emergency life support was running and she was adrift in a hyperlane. Afraid she was going to be lost in space, she laid down in her bunk to accept her fate of death. Not many knew or used this hyperlane out in the fringes of space. To die at such young age, Ra had never considered.

Life support had started to go critical and Ra passed out. She was totally unaware of Flinx finding her ship and boarding it. Oblivious to the fact she was about to be rescued.

(OOC: Since my character is passed out, you have control of her actions.)

After a few hours, Ra woke up in a strange bunk on a ship different from her old YT-1300. She opened her eyes and sat up quickly, hitting her head on the bottom of the bunk over her. Rubbing her head slightly and shaking it to get the stars out of her vision, she stood up slowly.

"Well, if I'm dead, I wonder where I am."

Well, she had just hit her head which hurt so that implied she wasn't dead.

"Hello?"

Ra called out into the quiet ship and in the corner of the room, a small droid woke up, let out a quick series of chirps and beeps and rolled out of the room. She followed the droid through the quiet ship. It lead her to the cockpit of the ship where she saw the person that had rescued her.

He had long silver hair like hers, his skin almost the same tone. Ra drew in a quiet breath wondering if she had found one of her people. A people she knew nothing about.

Flinx heard footsteps behind him and turned. He was in is signature robes with leather pauldrons. the only problem was he had a bandage covering his eyes."You are awake, and no I am not one of your people. From what I've found I'm not sure there are any of my people left." He stood up and offered her the datapad he had in his hand. On it was a holo of her ship which was in orbit around the planet nearest where she had broke down. "If you want you can stay with me, here, on the kyber dragon and seek out the galaxies ancient secrets. Or I can take you to the nearest spaceport and you can get parts to fix your ship and be on your way. Your choice. Personally I would enjoy the company and the extra set of hands."

The man that had rescued her, stood up and held out a datapad with the information of where to find her ship. Ra took the pad from him and looked over it. He offered to take her to the nearest spaceport, drop her off so she could get the items to fix her ship or to keep her aboard his ship and travel together.

"What good would dropping me off at the nearest spaceport do if I can't get back to my ship?"

She set the datapad down on the now vacant chair in front of her and looked at Flinx.

"Don't you think it advisable to get to know one another before just offering to join up?"

He was a good half a foot taller than her and wore a mask covering his eyes. Ra wondered about that, but chose not to ask thinking it would be rude. After all, he had just saved her from suffocating on her ship.

"The idea of discovering secrets has its appeal though..."

Ra left the full statement unsaid and looked out of the viewer to the stars around them.

"What do you do, exactly? Some sort of archeologist?"

"I think someone as resourceful as you would be able to get the parts and make it back to your ship. I also think getting to know you would be nice, but I didn't want to waste your time for you to be leaving at the next spaceport. In a way you can say that yes I am an archeologist, but not someone who goes around raiding tombs for riches and bones. No I am trying to trace back the living force to a time before the Jedi, before the Sith, before the force got corrupted by politics and power drunk fools. If I could find out how the force worked then, then maybe I could use that knowledge to set the force right now.

I see it in your eyes how curios you are about my mask. However if you want to know the truth, I'm a Miraluka, and we don't see the physical world. We see though the force." Flinx steps closer to his guest and kneels. "If you wish you may take off the mask and look upon my true face. Hopefully that will put your mind at ease."

Ra just gave him a flat look when he mentioned her resourcefullness. He had seen her ship, knew it was ailing, how could he call her that. Granted she had been on her way to get it repaired, but still, it was currently a floating, dead husk of a ship in orbit around an almost equally dead planet.

"So a pursuer of knowlege rather than riches. How has that been going for you...?"

She had no idea to his name nor he hers. It wasn't logical for this man to be offering a partnership so soon. He knelt in front of her, telling her why he wore the mask and suggested she remove it to put her at ease. At ease of what though? He had not done anything threatening to her and in fact rescued her.

Reaching out her hand, she lightly touches him on the side of his face. Ra looks down at him and shakes her head slightly.

"No, I will allow you to remove the mask when you are comfortable with me. Call me Ra."

Her hand was warm on his cheek and Ra removes it and takes half a step back allowing Flinx the room to stand up if he wished.

"In several ancient cultures the name Ra and its several forms in different tongues was a word for sun. My name is Flinx Kalith. As to my comfort, having any kind of sentient life on this ship other than me is more comfortable than being alone. I once thought of getting a vornskr, but I haven't been near Myrkyr in several years. the only reason I thought removing my mask would help is most peoples say that the eyes are windows to the soul." Flinx unties the mask. and removes it to reveal his lack of eyes. Instead of eyes he had just skin stretched over the vestigial eye sockets. "Following that logic no one will ever see my soul." Flinx stood and retied his mask. "Feel free to make yourself at home and get acquainted with the controls. "

"Oh, my full name is Ra'a'mah Numare which I think means, mercy darkone. It's just easier for people to remember Ra and not the whole thing."

Flinx introduces himself and she nods slightly, he also mentions something called a vornskr...whatever that is. Ra went to ask about it, when he started to remove his mask. Under it, is plain skin, no eyes, just skin. The sight does not horrify or disgust Ra in any, but it surprises her. His talking about the Force was like it was something everybody had. Obviously that was the case in his culture. Ra on the other hand, knew nothing about hers.

After twenty years, she still had yet to discover what happened to her or her people. Ra took a seat at the back of the cockpit and looked up at Flinx now standing and having replaced his mask, told her to make herself comfortable.

"There are other ways to see the soul."

She said this quietly, but still loud enough to be heard in the almost silent ship.

"Well then where to go..... I think the firt place to look for knowledge is a library and the oldest library I know of is the ruins on Ossis. I figure we head there unless you have any objections?"

"Hold on, hold on. It's not that I have any objection really, but WHAT am I good for? Besides company."

Ra spoke the last part rather softly and looked to the floor of the ship.

"I have no knowledge of what you're looking for or how to find it. I mean, I am or was a simple trader of goods and cargo."

She again looked up at Flinx and wondered why he reached out and apparently needed her so badly.

"You are a pilot aren't you? And who knows while we are snooping around you may be able to find out what happened to your people. For the time being you take over as pilot and just tag along, help with research etc."

"Well, yes I'm a pilot, but not familiar with this ship. Don't you think mine, oncce fixed would be better suited?"

It has beds for four crew and she could certainly use the help herself. There's also a large common area and a small but adequit kitchen.

"It's much more comfortable and can travel farther than this one."

Ra continues to tell Flinx the benifits of her ship over his and hopes to return to it soon.

"Alright although I still will need to keep my ship with us, but we will go get parts." Flinx heads to the nearest spaceport. he didn't like the thought of leaving his ship, with all his mother's secrets, behind, but he wanted to help the girl.

"The stop shouldn't take long, Flinx. I know exactly what I need and what I can just repair."

Ra spoke to Flinx and looked at the little droid that had greeted her when she woke up.

"What is the droid called and can it talk to ships? I'm sorry, but I hardly understand what the little guys say."

She picked up the datapad that Flinx had given her before and started jotting down the list of items needed for her ship. Thoughtfully, she fell silent as she went about working on the list, waiting for his answer on the droid.

After completing the list of items and parts she was going to need, Ra looked over at the navicomputer to see they had about an hour left before they arrived at thier destination. She stood up and held a hand out to Flinx.

"Care to show me around? I'm starved and would gladly fix you something to eat if you want."

Before leaving the cockpit, Ra flipped the sound alert to go off when they were about to arrive.

(Sorry it's so short, just couldn't think of much.)
