Faction Casting Stones

He glanced at his wirst and shifted to wrap his oppositional hand around it and adjusted the wrappings. " Yes... like being Branded. " He confirmed.
Brander listened intently, his usual chatter giving way to a rare silence as Aadhir spoke. He perched on a nearby bench, pulling his legs up and sitting cross-legged as though on the ground. The unusual posture drew a few curious glances from passersby, but Brander either didn’t notice or simply didn’t care. His expression was thoughtful—pensive, even—as he watched Aadhir with uncharacteristic focus.

For a time, he said nothing, letting the weight of Aadhir’s words settle. Finally, he broke the silence, his voice measured. “If you teach me all of that... then you’ll be teaching me what it really means to be a Jedi. And I’ll be better than those who ignore such things,” he concluded, the faintest edge of determination in his tone.

“I accept.”

For a moment longer, Brander remained still, quiet—a rare feat for him—before shifting slightly, his thoughts visibly churning behind his eyes.

“I accept.”

"Good" Aadihr said, trying to let air in to cool the burning food in his mouth, displaying horrible table manners in the process while attempting to eat and talk at the same time.

He slid the plate towards Brander, "eat up, you've got a long day of nothing ahead of you."

The boy did seem less fidgety, less anxious than before. A good first step. His aura was resolute. Aadihr's fear of dashing a boy's dreams lessened, the confidence of that aura by proxy almost made Aadihr believe the boy could develop force sensitivity.

A thought cause a worry to flicker in his mind.

"You may have to share training times with my Padawan. He's uh... He's the son of the Grandmaster and the Shield of the New Jedi Order, Aris Noble Aris Noble . So, no pressure or anything."

Aadihr was probably more worried than the branded was. Mental images of sparring gone wrong flashed in his head - Aris could control his strength surely, but flashing from the mental image of the giant teenager punching through durasteel superimposed with the determined boy in front of the Rodian fries gave him a worried feeling.

Brander tentatively picked up a root, turning it over in his hands as if inspecting its every detail. He glanced up, quirking a brow as something Aadhir had said caught his attention—or perhaps his confusion. Someone had a child with a… shield? The concept sounded bizarre to him, and his expression made it clear he thought so.

He didn't fully grasp the ranks or roles within the Jedi Order, nor the weight behind the titles Aadhir mentioned. Because of that, he seemed unfazed by the implications, brushing them off with casual indifference.

"Down to one from about twenty others is still an improvement; I know how to share attention." he remarked with a faint shrug. There was a pause, his tone softening, more introspective. "I think I'd like to have someone to work alongside who isn't just... a perfect mirror to my broken one."
