:Appearance:

Trademarks:

If the first thing you don't notice about Cassus isn't his elephantine stature, it's probably his very noble posture, confident step, and solemn face that appears to be have been carven of stone. His features are perfectly proportioned, and his expression always dignified. His eyes are two oceans of blue, as dark and deep as their depths but as sweet and disarming as the shimmering surface.

His short golden brown hair is close-cropped, buzzing it seldomly with little time to think for his physical appearance, and as it grows it does so in neat waves. As with his hair, his beard is shaved when he remembers to but is often in a state of growth between a shadow and a light beard. Cassus towers even most alien species and his build is at its peak. His skin has a pink undertone that can be golden tan when working under the sun of arid worlds that his duty calls him to or as white as snow in the chilling frigid planets that see little sun.

: Personality :

Overview:

Cassus is defined by his solemn sense of duty. He devotes his life in service of causes he sees as righteous and just and loathes greed and the subjugation of others. Even in his spare time, he will likely be found honing his ability to mediate, pile up training droid carcasses more quickly than the mechanics at the Temple can fix them, and challenging himself against the best in the order in the sparring arena. He has no need of possessions and will gladly sacrifice his own life in the service of those he is pledged.

He takes the idea of noblesse
oblige to an extreme, he learned from a young age that if he doesn't pull the pieces of his life together, things fall apart. From helping his father as he stumbled towards his bed when he was dangerously drunk to watching after his mom to make sure she didn't get herself in too much trouble with her trust that was too easily won, and essentially caring and raising his younger brother on his own. He quickly helped his grandfather with the management of their estate, and the family bank. Some would say his family expected too much of him too soon.

Pitfalls and Pinnacles:

Although Cassus's great prowess in the force, brute physical power, and discipline all lend him to be considered among the finest Jedi Guardians of his age, he falls much behind in his understanding of balance, the more complex intricacies of the force, and ultimately himself. He often sacrifices manifesting a sense of identity for the sake of pouring himself into his work and training. He does everything he can to avoid the pain of the loss he's experienced in his life. Cassus fails as he always has to ever had a real and stable bond with anyone in his life. He often feels isolated, and his shortcoming in interpersonal skills leave him feeling frustrated, caring for the good and welfare of others but often making only surface-level relations with them. However, his noble purpose and endearing humility make way for an ability to inspire others which is unparalleled. He is absolutely selfless, thinking only of others.

But beyond just raw strength Cassus is a well-honed warrior, spending hours in physical training when not out on the field daily, as well as employing lightsaber exercises to fall into deep meditations.

He is also a born operations executor and soldier, being a bastion that others depend on often planning and leading the charge, both in space, being a solid pilot, and on the field.

Cassus became a skilled mechanic from his early days of taking apart his father's speeders to scavenging junkyards with his brother to begin the creation of the Vulture's Legacy, their ship.

Cassus is a proficient force user.

:Force Powers:

:Character History:

"It is not our way. The Counts of Serenno do not complain or cry. We are born to take care of others. We don't expect others to take care of us."
―Dooku

Cassus comes from a lineage whose breeding was masterminded through careful calculation and influenced by political machinations. The most noble house of Demici was always known for its fortitude and vigor, and the needs of such qualities clamored on the threatening stage that is the modern galaxy, a galaxy in chaos. Cassus grew up leading a privileged life, but the threat of being privy to the family of exceptionally noble birth that is also one of the richest known in the galaxy kept danger ever-present in his life. Serenno's position in the galaxy on the setting of so many wars was precarious. The once harmonious Family of Counts now gave in to petty power plays constantly made to win alliances and further self-serving campaigns. It had become a ruthless kath hound-eat-kath hound world as one of the first refuges the faltering Galactic Market set its sights on, setting the weight of the galaxy's burdens from the enormity of trade franchises and governments pleading to be the first to be bailed out.

The family's position was finally set firmly after his Grandfather founded the Bank of Demici, after smartly picking out the right network of patrons and investing wisely in commodity wealth. Cassus's family would never be touched by economic frailty and suffer the way most of the galaxy would, but there was a time when the fabled marble halls and the gross excess of wealth could have been a thing of the past for the Demici. However with the security of their position came greater responsibility, greater strain, and more of a strive to maintain it all. It also spread their acclaim and made them a great target for many other political, business, and banking powers.

His Grandfather was the direct heir of the Demici family of Serenno whose descendants spanned back at least a thousand years, his eldest son was Khagnum Demici. Cassus's mother was selected to be of Nalju origin,
Farnesse; a goddess whose family had all the proper connections to bring her into notice.

Cassus grew up with a Mother and Father who were not always there, and who had a misguided sense of parenthood, but in their place were a league of servants, droid and organic alike, tutors, security, and trainers who fostered him into maturity. Although far removed from all the violence and instability that was going on in space, there was a good deal of chaos going on within his own home and he couldn't always be sheltered from it. Series of incidents and plotting that threatened the good name of Noble families, and dangers far more grave and corporeal. In one instance the infant found himself tiptoeing in on scandal of the court. The political machinations astir were deemed too unstable for Cassus to remain and was moved to one of Khagnum's villas in the mountains where he was safeguarded by his Uncle Kaiafas.

Where Cassus's father,
Khagnum, was hardened yet still doting of his child and wife and loved for the magnanimity over the people he ruled, his Uncle was respected by fear for his power and strong-handed approach. His Uncle Kaiafas was an especially controlling man, paranoid, scheming, and wound tight.

His Uncle began him on a strict regimen with intense training of the family trade and providing a wealthy education for him, and although Cassus excelled at whatever was thrown at him he often felt suffocated. The family convened weekly. His father already a very physical man, of giant stature Cassus would inherit, and not a stranger to drinking. When inebriated he would become rather volatile, roughhousing with other nobles at banquets, as when he scuffled with his brother Kaiafas who had an eye for his wife. And then there were the few instances of sexual scandal.

His mother was passionately loving but still very much a child herself at only eighteen, and therefore somewhat negligent. Strong-willed with a large appetite for the extravagant niceties and lavish partying, Farnesse was far from frivolous as she used these things to escape an escalating domestic calamity, a life of endless politicking and charity work which left her with the constant sense of being objectified and used.

Farnesse became an eminent galactic celebrity and was watched over closely by the media. She was considered an enigmatic beauty who kept company with and patronized intellectual and artistic oddities. Cassus's father took on a slew of mistresses and often threatened his wife for her spending, gallivants as well as her 'spectacles' as he put it. It slowly became the sole responsibility of the staff to raise Cassus for them, although Cassus had learned young to care for himself. The creed of the Counts of Serenno played itself better when practiced towards the common people than it did within the households of the Noble Lords, which were quite fractured and woeful.

Despite all of this there was still some love at the heart of the Demici home, even though this became less obvious as Cassus's younger brother, Tatum, was born. Cassus cared for him like he was his own.

Cassus took refuge in his grandfather who he was very close to, Eres, the Count at the time he was being brought up. He found all the love in him that was lacking in the structure of his own home. Under him, Serenno found its independence and respect among the payers in the Galactic political game. The bank of Demici took to caring for the interests of those who proliferated enlightenment and prosperity to the galaxy. Eres' feelings on the outsiders were cautious, if not somewhat disdainful. If a faction could promise some sense of hush over the galaxy, he did not see the immediate danger in lending them money and often played them at their own game.

This insightful maneuvering and personable attitude would spare him a lot more trouble in heading his family to the top, but the Sith who were encroaching ever further upon their sector in space had sent emissaries that kept a close eye. They were often critical of what they perceived to be corruption and liberality in Serenno that Eres was permissive of. Eres paid off officials of the Sith after discovering Cassus's strong force connection, their political clout ensured what wealth couldn't as they called on those specially handpicked allies Eres had made sure to foster, including Jedi ambassadors he kept at court. Eres may have been as politically motivated as some of the other Houses of Serenno, but he was most minded to set a place on the table for the future of the galaxy for his family, and he felt the best way to do such a thing was to harvest wealth and a network of allies.

One of Cassus’s earliest and most tragic experiences came in his early childhood when an assassination attempt was made on his family at a charity banquet one of his Grandfather's constituents held. A detonation took place in the massive confines of a public hall, his father reeled to shield his son, but it came at the expense of the family patriarch. The loss of his grandfather was devastating to him, he was the only real figure in his life who Cassus felt connected to, who he felt saw him as more than just a child prodigy and prince. Cassus always resented his Father for not protecting his Grandfather. Khagnum now had a tremendous amount of pressure placed upon him, more than ever, and the imbalance between Father and Son only grew.

Cassus always felt he could have protected himself, as he knew he was Force-sensitive. A fact boasted by his father, in the way of accrediting his virility as a man to afford his son such a talent when it was so rare in the Galaxy, and yet while there was no evidence that it was his side of the family that bequeath Cassus's force sensitivity. Cassus sometimes felt used by his father in this manner and felt the pressure in which he had to live up to his Khagnum's mounting acclaim.

Cassus's reaction to this devastating loss began by him deciding to rebel by joining his brother Tatum who had been somewhat of a menace already, experimenting with contradicting the droids of his estate’s social input, joyrides in his father's most expensive transports, and being gone for days traveling the system looking for parts to build their own starship. Together they would get themselves into all manner of mischief.

But his Father and Uncle put a stop to this after the allowance of a short grieving period and already having that sense of duty in his heart Cassus gave in to his Uncle and Father's demands. Another sobering event that helped to rein him back in was his Mother leaving on a yachting trip and never returning home. Cassus's sense of repeated abandonment took the form of emotional isolation and his self-blame to a path of becoming the best possible guardian to prevent anything from anything happening again. His brother took a far different path. Cassus, having felt personally the pressure placed upon his family to provide for the entire D'Astan sector which began to experience threats of violence from the Sith.

At 9, Cassus began training for the Serenno's Pride, the honor guard of the Counts of Serenno as his physical abilities began budding since he was old enough to crawl. He turned away from using the force to prevent him from having an unfair advantage over his peers and to cut himself off from feeling the pain of his family as well as his own.

Jedi Watchmen and Sith Lords had been soliciting the apprenticeship of Cassus since he was a toddler, but his father had always turned them away, and always took pleasure in seeing them beg as he boasted. No one ever dared to cross him for the simple fact of his massive wealth and power. The Bank of Demici's influence only grew as other banks were swallowed up. It had become one of the leading forces in the Galaxy. Everyone sought their help after their own banks had failed, for all his faults Cassus's Uncle had exceedingly high business acumen after Count Eres. Cassus’s father initially refused to allow his son to lead such a life. He was to become, as his own father wished, to serve as a soldier, then a Count to take up the Bank of the family and lead Serenno into continued prosperity.

It had since been that the gentler members of the family had disappeared and the warmth with them. The only outward sign of care Cassus's Father showed for his son was in the sense that Cassus was a possession, a trophy.

Ashla Lai, a peculiar Jedi Knight, would become the key to orchestrating Cassus’s recruitment to the order; it was her final task before attaining the rank of Master that she obtain this potential apprentice and bring peace to House Demici. Ashla's master was an emissary to the court of Count Eres and Cassus grew somewhat close to them as he grew older. Ashla was invited back as a guest to the court of the new Count, given her chance to convince the noble family of their obligation to better their son’s life. The fall of a certain past Count, of the house Dooku, however, was not far enough obscured by the pages in the history books.

Cassus always felt stifled on Serenno, and the rage his father incited in him fueled his dreams to escape him. He dreamed to fulfill a role greater than that of a Count and a banker, find some sense of overwhelming personal freedom, and fight for justice. Again since his mother disappeared he felt glimmers of optimism, that he could destined for something less self-serving and more fruitful. Ashla couldn’t agree more. She could sense the force was strong with the boy with the makings of potential for a great destiny. Count Khagnum begrudgingly gave his good graces for Cassus to go on and train as a Jedi. Although he still largely disapproved there was something that troubled him deeply of late, something he would not speak of. There was also the condition that Tatum was contracted as well, for his descent into crime and drugs could not have been halted by anything else his father had attempted. The Demici men hoped that it would discipline his calamitous instability and work as something of a rehabilitation.

On Coruscant, the young Demici brothers relationship with Ashla budded. Cassus and Tatum finally had an adult mother figure in their life guide them towards the peaks of their achievement. Ashla instilled many teachings within Cassus in their first year of training together. Despite the fact that she had so much going on outside of her training of the boys, she managed to tutor Cassus considerably in the ways of the Force and in dueling. She was not the only one however. Cassus became very popular within the academies of the Order, being himself very humble and likable. Cassus felt he never fit in better anywhere else, to him the code and agenda of the Jedi were righteous. Many leading Masters and famous Knights taught him how to center himself and his emotions through meditation, how to channel his inner pains to achieve something more progressive in his life.

Tatum's boyish exuberance could never be completely contained, and his boldness and reckless endeavors in the academy helped the brothers become something of stars in their year. Despite this, his prospective future in training looked bright.

Cassus never really kept in touch with his other family, he learned to let go; thinking it was better to forget them and preferred the detachment philosophies of the High Republic era Jedi. But when the devastating Sith invasion of his homeworld and the murder of his father followed by the reign of his Uncle, he was devastated but was already too accustomed to hurt and loss and knew how to cover it up. He piled on his assignments and kept himself busy. For Tatum things took a sharper decline, he was somehow cut from the force and left the academy. Ashla felt she had failed and chose self-imposed exile, another loss for young Cassus.

At 17, Cassus soon passed his trials, and although the Council felt he wasn't ready to be a Jedi Knight there were no concrete grounds for them to deny him it.

Riley has the same level of training, in a way at least. Not as strong as Cassuss, even with prosthetics and cybernetics, but she's durable. Your character had the better upbringing though, lol.
