Unreviewed Cartridge, Projectile, .44, Handload Mk.1 Mod.0 "Can-Opener."

Manufacturer: V.Z.A.B, Beltor "Bell" Cyrus
Type: Ordinance
Market Status: Closed Market
Production: Semi-Unique
Weight: Heavy
Size: Large
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Using the .48 Enforcer cartridge as a parent case design, .44 Mk.1 Mod. 0 is a necked down cartridge comprised of reinforced durasteel fitting a .44 projectile, typically pointed and featuring a hardened depleted baradium tip, and hot loaded to what would typically be considered "+P+", or roughly 30-40% higher then its parent cartridge to obtain considerably higher projectile velocity and impact force on target.
STRENGTHS
  • Hammer of God - The Mk. 1 Mod. 0 was designed from the ground up to give the shooter inherent "light" anti-material capacity in a pistol form factor. From both sheer projectile velocity and felt impact on target and it's depleted baradium tipped projectile, the round will readably penetrate the vast majority of personal protection below the durability of Beskar, with even a target in Mando iron being knock flat down from the impact.

  • Big surprise in a small packages - Despite it's intended role as an anti-material round, the form factor allows it to feed and chamber from standard 8 round single stack magazines commonly used by the venerable .48 Enforcer pistol, requiring only modification to the gun's internals it self.

  • It's about sending a message - This round, and the weapon is made for, are not tools of subtilty. It's a big, fat, high velocity round for a monster of a hand gun and as such carries considerable intimidation when brandished and used.
WEAKNESSES
  • Stout Recoil - being a hand loaded, hot loaded wildcat derivation of an already notoriously stout cartridge, it is in no way meant for less physically capable or augmented individuals. It will kick, the muzzle will flip, and unless the shooter is prepared or reinforced them selves, it is not an enjoyable cartridge to shoot.
  • Thunder of the Heavens - The Mk. 1 Mod. 0 cartridge is in no way a subtle round, the chamber pressures and report from the round make sure anyone with in even remotely reasonable distance is going to hear this thing going off.
  • Specialist's specialist - The round has no inherent parent weapon design of novel invention, instead meant to be chambered and fired in specially modified .48 Enforcer pistols typically fitted with reinforced barrels, breaches, locking lugs and frames. This precludes the easy chambering of the Mk.1 Mod. 0 from most other pistol and even rifle form factors.
DESCRIPTION
Originally thought up during and idle tinkering session, Dr. Cyrus broke out his myriad of tools and hand loading equipment and began doing what he does best: Tinkering. The idea is simple, take a already extant and well known weapon design and develop a specialist cartridge for it, for no other reason then it was fun.

Using the .48 Enforcer cartridge as a parent case design, .44 Mk.1 Mod.

Using several decommissioned B-2 battle droids as the target dummies, he was eventually able to eventually develop a round that took advantage of a smaller diameter cartridge, with 1.5 times the standard velocity, and nearly twice the standard felt force on impact using standard cast lead rounds. When used with simple cast lead rounds, the impact force on target was enough to critically deform and destroy the internals of the heavy war droid at standard pistol range. Through the use of a machined depleted Baradium tip, he was able to punch a fist size hole through the droid's thick armor plate and clean out the other side. Satisfied with his work, he codified the design and is offering it as an optional re-chambering for the .48 Enforcer handgun.
