Cardboard Boxes [Complete]

Siobhan shouldn't worry about Valriya. No doubt the large feline would get body parts of certain slavers to munch on, preferably while the said slaver was still alive to watch. Perhaps Firemane would be making a large mistake with her in charge...then again,who would be left alive to complain? Turning her attention back to Siobhan just as she was mentioning other Firemane operations, she nodded slowly. Apparently she would only be left to rot in the backwater for ninety percent of the time instead of one hundred. How comforting!

"So I'll get to go out into the heat and do my bureaucracy. I'm living the dream."

It was all in jest....sort of. Deep down, Delila was quite thankful for the opportunity.

[member="Delila Castillon"]

"Now that's the spirit. There's also a nice beach! This is your show, but I'll be on call and I do visit the planet sometimes!" Siobhan said brightly. If anything went wrong big sister would be there to help out! Wasn't Siobhan being sweet? Probably not. But who knew, maybe Delila would soon acquire her own fan club on Dahomey. After all, she was the hottest redhead in all the land! If slavers were going to be fed alive to Valriya then it was unlikely she would object, for Siobhan, being a firm believer in Pay Evil unto Evil, had once tossed a couple of Bando Gora scientists into a cage full of Reavers and calmly walked away. It would just be best if this happened off the premise and did not come to the attention of snoopy journalists who would complain about 'war crimes'.

"An apartment has been provided in the Firemane compound. I imagine you'll also want to inspect the troops. Make them behold their new redheaded over-mistress." Apparently Siobhan was in trolling mood again or under the mistaken assumption that she was being particularly witty.

[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]

"I'm not sure they all want to behold their new commander. Besides, viewing of the troops is left to queens and cadet inspections. If you feel it necessary we can have some type of informal walk through."

Delila had no problem following traditions and procedures. Yet inspecting the troops right now just seemed overly pompous and a waste of time for both parties. At least she wouldn't have to get up and rush to work. Since the apartment was on Firemane grounds she could sleep in and have a nice short walk over to her office or training ground or whatever she would be headed to. Sighing, Delila gathered her datapad and stood up.

"Round up the troops so they may ogle me. I'm sure Siobhan has a few she wishes to inspect herself."

This writer had considered being mean and forcing Dells to give a dramatic speech to her small army of minions. Doubtless she would have enjoyed the stance! "Ah, I just wanted to give you the chance to give a dramatic speech that will lift their hearts and inspire them. Words from a war hero to stir their passions and make them follow you to glory," Siobhan could not resist snarking because she was a merciless troll.

As for it seeming overly pompous and a waste of time, well, as a matter of fact Siobhan was overly pompous.

A black skinned female aide the camp, perhaps the lieutenant girl from earlier, passed a datapad over as Siobhan sipped the last of her cold drink. "We have drills scheduled in about an hour on the training grounds. Live fire exercises. Squads from the militia will be participating under supervision, including tests of the new Reaver-class."

"Excellent. That's ideal. We'll go there. You get to yell at recruits and personally command the new Reaver tank. We just a company of those to the Mandalorian Clan Ordo. Sounds like today's your lucky day, Dells," Siobhan said happily as she put her glass down and got up. Dells had a home and a command once again. Everything was proceeding as planned, now she had to get hooked up, which would be the greatest challenge!

[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]

"I leave the dramatic speeches to those who don't fight."

Delila nodded to the woman who reported on the drills. It would be the perfect time to see the troops in action without dressing anyone up and inspecting fingernails. She could only hope for Siobhan's sake that she kept her mouth shut during the live fire exercises. Dells may be inspired to shut her up in more creative ways then just a mere glare.

Doing her best to ignore the trolling, Delila followed the group for a short tour to kill the hour before exercises.

[member="Delila Castillon"]

"Like Cater? I always felt like falling asleep when he started yammering. Put him in a fight and he'd try to talk his enemy to death," Siobhan snarked. No, she did not like the Lord Protector or take him seriously at all.

For her part Siobhan went out alongside the aide and Dells. Oh, and she most certainly agreed with the Major...pardon Captain that her popo was beautiful! Regardless they got a short tour of the base, which was undoubtedly fascinating and no doubt everyone appreciated the fact that the building was air conditioned, the redhead got bombarded with more facts about her job and there were even snacks and drinks! Aside from info about business ventures, she would also hear about the humanitarian projects Firemane funded on the planet, such as charities and a major orphanage in Abomey. Obviously this was partially done for marketing reasons since it garnered good will but while self-centred Siobhan was not stingy with money, for she remembered the time when she had been a gutter rat on Nar Shaddaa. A week before Velok vaporised Rhommamool/Osarian and the brief reign of Tegaea and Siobhan began a Protectorate mission led by Anya had evacuated most of the population of Zonyu V as the planet was wrecked by destructive earthquakes that laid waste to it. Many of the refugees had been resettled on Dahomey, where they had taken up a life fas farmers. A number of them had been recruited into the militia and they were a source of support Firemane could rely on.

Then as the drills drew nearer they embarked upon a speeder and were driven from the Firemane compound to the training grounds, which were a bit further off in the still rather untamed and wild parts. Birds and insects chirped happily, the sun was shining with blazing heat, making Siobhan grateful that she had not worn leather. Well, that would have been inappropriate anyway given that this was a business visit, though that might not stop her from visiting a few...close friends whom she knew well in the biblical sense later on, but still!

As they drew closer to the training grounds they could hear the tell-tale signs that the drills had commenced, the flat crack of bolters as grenades were thunked out followed by the sound of detonations, the timeless bellows of sergeants chewing out recruits and proving that across all races and genders being a drill instructor was the perfect vocation to let loose your inner bitchiness, blaster bolts whizzing through the air and the thump of boots on the ground as soldiers prepared to advance upon the mockup of a fortified enemy compound with artillery support.

Both the Reaver-class and the Typhoon artillery tank would be tested tested. Delila may or may not have already seen the Typhoon since it had been put into action while Tegaea and Siobhan were still in power, with the plans having been drawn up earlier prior to their assumption of office. Nicknamed Kerrigan's Organ due to the sound of the vehicle's rocket motors, it was a self-propelled multiple rocket launcher that could serve as a grid square removal system and an anti-air weapon. Where its missiles fell they left naught but devastation. The Reaver-class had been recently developed by Firemane and was armed with a mass driver cannon and a flamethrower along with heavy repeaters. Doubtless the Captain would not mind driving the one that was in action and blasting some of the tank mock-ups to scrape or setting a mock-up bunker ablaze.

The drills were still in their early stages as the Firemane mercenaries and native militiamen were deployed, though shots could already be heard. Siobhan would hang back and let Delila handle the commanding aspect of things. After all, it was supposed to be her show. Yes, Siobhan was being purely professional!

[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]

Watching the drills was so....Kerrigan. When did Siobhan find her inner flamboyant gay man? Delila had time to ponder this while the troops moved on the ground below the viewing platform. She had little reason to interfere with the goings on of the soldiers. She wanted to see how they acted on their own. After all, it wasn't as if every assignment was going to require her presence. Squad leaders would be picking up most of that slack. The redhead would need to weed out the weak ones, their poor performance today would indicate who would soon be getting demoted.

A near-deafening boom exploded over the lawns as the Reaver-class tanks fired off a round. Mockups were already ablaze and billowing smoke throughout the lands.

"Hm, at least we have some explosive firepower on this rock."

People in retirement tended to get nostalgic - and annoy the youngsters with tales of their 'glory days'. Siobhan might be feeling a bit nostalgic concerning her days as Commander of Omega Pyre and then Exarch. The latter would be particularly ironic because for the most part the work had been tedious, annoying and boring. However, she also felt very bitter towards the Protectorate given its from her perspective lack of appreciation for what she and Tegaea had done - all proclamations from Ayden and Cira in which Tegaea was mentioned referred to her as 'former Exarch Alcori', as if she had never been Protector.

On planets like Dahomey Siobhan felt she got the recognition she deserved, which probably said a lot about her considerable ego and sense of self-importance! So she liked the fanfare, the pomp and circumstance and likewise enjoyed watching the drills. After all, she liked it when people did as she told them to! A powerful explosion was heard as the mass driver cannon of a Reaver tank turned the mockup of a tank to scrape. As the Reaver closed in it unleashed a blast of flame and heat from its flamethrower into a mock-up bunker, engulfing it in flames that would have made a delightful barbeque out of any occupants...unless they were force gods who possessed seemingly impregnable force barriers that would not be the least affected!

"We own plenty of military hardware. Might as well put it to use. Better than relying on a remote location and 'small elite groups'. I'm hoping to expand the arsenal further," Siobhan responded, taking a deep drag from the cigarette she had lit, a stream of smoke escaping into the humid air as she exhaled. Hopefully Dells did not have a problem with a little bit of passive smoking!

As the bellowing roar of heavy artillery fire momentarily ceased infantry units were advancing. One of the squads, however, seemed to be slacking and not advancing as fast as it should given the order to advance, potentially messing up coordination. Fortunately the artillery was properly coordinated, as it would have been unfortunate if said squad had been ripped apart by cluster bombs, as much as that would have potentially spurred on the rest! Another unit, one composed of natives but Firemane-officered, was proceeding all too eagerly as it broke down the door to the compound and stormed in ahead of the others, probably violating a number of rules about how to properly break in and secure a building. The results can be imagined if this had been a building full of bloodthirsty Reavers just waiting to tear anyone they came across apart.

Especially those who used archaic, personal slugthrowers!

Sharp blue eyes gazed over the battlefield, ignoring much of Siobhan's smoke blowing. Maybe there would be more days to troll her about the harmful effects of smoking. Delila was fairly confident the woman would injure herself and need a lung replacement in the near future, so perhaps it didn't matter much at all. The troops advanced on the field, flames and explosions sounding throughout the area. Two groups of soldiers concerned her. The slow and uncoordinated group would need to log in long hours and become sharper or face being kicked out under her rule. In no shape or form was she going to have others killed for laziness.

"Expand the arsenal? Seems like a good idea. I suppose since you're femme now shopping is right up your alley"

Yes, Delila managed to get a jab in here and there.

The all-native group. Well....Delila had plans to turn them into an elite strikeforce. Refinement and control was just needed. Their speed and teamwork was impressive, even if it would get them killed in a real scenario. All in due time.

[member="Delila Castillon"]

"You'll have to go shopping with me some time. There's a beautiful pink and green floral dress I saw that would fit you nicely, along with shiny earrings and three inch high heels. You'll look lovely in them," Siobhan drawled, trying and probably failing at imitating the tone of a prissy aristocrat from the core worlds. Her attempt to sound like a well-bred lady ended up sounding like a mix of a parrot and a mentally deficient hyena. In truth, while Siobhan had come to appreciate the...femme side of things, she did not have the patience for shopping tours - and when she did indulge in them probably drove her attendants crazy with said impatience.

As for smoking, [member="Hevana Martin"] had already often voiced her disapproval of this habit while they had still been with the Pyre. To be fair she had tried to quit and even sort of managed for a while before relapsing. Maybe some day Siobhan would need artificial lungs! Anyway, troops were advancing, beautiful explosions blossomed and clouds of fire rose into the sky, the ground shook under the force of the detonations. Siobhan likewise noted the two groups that Dells had picked out. Slacking would not be tolerated, but then she could rely on Dells in that department.

Regardless the other fireteams were linking up and moving to take the building, searching and securing every room, gunning down down mock-up targets intermixed with actual hostiles in form of training droids to make it more challening. Of course, the droids would be programmed to only stun them, but it was probably better than just shooting at a card-board cut-out. Through cameras and small probe droids Dells and Siobhan would be able to follow events. Oh, and for some reason Valriya the big cat was there as well, having curled up next to Dells.

She was chewing on something with her absurdly sharp teeth. Perhaps it was a slaver. Or an Eldorai. One could never know for sure.

[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]

"So I will be going from soldier to street walker?"

Delila had zero problems dressing up and looking feminine for a change. Yet her tastes and Siobhan's clearly diverged. Especially the three inch heels. Such things were normally worn on stripper stages or in the privacy of one's bedroom for romantic purposes. Giving a small hmph of annoyance, Delila let her eyes focus on the battlefield once more. After all, herself and Siobhan had barely just gotten over their strife. No need for more trouble.

With the cat mascot gnawing on some treat at her feet, she wondered if the creature was allowed to roam freely. A mildly frightening prospect in her mind.

"So when will you be returning back home?"

[member="Delila Castillon"]

Despite Siobhan's trolling she actually hated high heels and steadfastly refused to wear them. Same applied to floral dresses...well, according to [member="Tegaea Alcori"] Siobhan was just in denial in that area. She disliked it when her nails did not look perfect though and had a thing for shiny suits. Dark side transition would probably annoy her immensely because it would ruin her looks!

"Oh, no need to worry, I don't plan on hovering over your shoulder for days on end. You'll soon have full reign. I will show you your apartment first though," Siobhan said in a terribly chipper tone. Inside the buildings things were proceeding well, though a few soldiers had been knocked out by stun bolts fired by the droids from cover before the automatons had been taken out with much blasterfire and explosions as the soldiers went from room to room, cleansing them. They had not been instructed to expect actual opposition instead of just mock-up targets in order to test their response and reaction time.

[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]

Eyes switched between the battlefield and the holoscreens showing the interior of the buildings. Things were going much as Delila as expected. Some were falling or falling apart while others managed to focus and continue through. Practice, drills and simulations would be required to thoroughly get the Firemane Troops on Dahomey up to full speed. It almost seemed if they were the redheaded stepchild of the Firemane family. Delila was certainly looking to change that fact.

Wincing at the overly cheery tone, the redhead motioned with her hand. It was best to get this part over with.

"I think we've seen enough. How about you start your grand tour? You seem incredibly chipper to."

Which is more than a little scary.

[member="Delila Castillon"]

"Excellent. You'll like it. Maybe you'll even live in it!" Siobhan declared in that same overly cheery tone. She patted Dells on the shoulder and then called their speeder. Within a short amount of time they had vanished from the training grounds, where now the drills were winding down, and shot off into the sky. It took a bit but soon they had reached the Firemane compound, which was located in the quarter most expats frequented. Delila would not have to walk far before she got to the grocer's or the next best bar.

Essentially it was quite similar to how things had been set up back with the Pyre on Fondor, where Delila and Siobhan had been almost neighbours, what with there being a few large buildings where officers and soldiers had received apartments. Of course, things were less grand here and one big complex probably sufficed.

Regardless Siobhan led Dells inside the building and they took the lift up, which thankfully was reasonably fast, before after going up a few levels it opened, with Siobhan guiding the hottest redhead on the planet towards her apartment and producing a key card, which she used to open the door before handing it to Dells - and so her new home was revealed.

"There we are. Welcome to your new home." The apartment was spacious and well-furnished, though there was still room for Dells to bring in furniture if she wished to spend money on that. It was presumably smaller than the one Dells had inhabited during her time as XO of Omega Pyre. After all, she also had a lower rank now and less pay now, but it was still a step up and so the redhead had a nice home now, whether she wanted it or not. The bed in the bedroom was also...quite big, which might be the result of Siobhan being a total troll. From the balcony one would have a good view of the town. Oh, and yes, there was good air conditioning!

[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]

Overly cheery Siobhan was like an overactive puppy. One that had done something terribly wrong and was trying to distract its owner from the mess down the hall. Soon enough she would grow bored and find some other person to troll and annoy. For Delila, this day perhaps was not coming soon enough. Siobhan did say she was leaving soon, which did give her some glimmer of hope.

Taking the key card and the grand tour, Delila found the location a bit odd, but she wasn't complaining.

"Thanks for the large bed. How did you know I like sleeping in the middle? Space looks big enough to set up my cardboard boxes too. I guess I'll have to find new ones though, my last got messed up in a downpour."

Leaning against the wall, Delila had found the air conditioning vent and let it blow on her.

"Seems fitting for my rank. I appreciate it. Keeps me close to everyone. Keeps them in line."

[member="Delila Castillon"]

"Maybe you'll actually...unpack your boxes? If there's stuff inside," Siobhan said happily, apparently under the impression that she was terribly witty as usual. Oh, and the apartment also had a kitchen with, well, the things you expected to have in a kitchen. In case Delila was not the cooking type there was also whatever this Galaxy's equivalent of a microwave was. Presumably galactic technology had advanced so far, despite the ever-repeating cycle of galactic plagues, dark ages and planets being bombed for no apparent reason.

There was also a small office-like room with a holorprojector and such for Dells to do...work things. "That's the spirit. It's also close to the good bars in town. You know, when you want to have that thing called fun." Siobhan actually handed the redhead a brochure with the best bars in town! Wasn't she being sweet to her redheaded pseudo-sister? Well, perhaps not. The redhead might find some...interesting...things once she opened the closet in her bedroom.

"Well, I guess I should get going. Sure you want to get settled down in your place and stuff," Siobhan said, patting Dells on the shoulder. Would they hug? And was a fangirl secretly watching the whole scene from the window of an adjourning building because a certain site needed fanfic?

[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]

"Yeah, unpacking"

In reality, Delila had sold most of her items back when things had gotten rough. Everything she owned sat tidily in one bag. Yet...the bag still had to be unpacked. Washed as well. She took the bar information numbly. It seemed like the brochure was perhaps handed out to every single visitor that stepped on Dahomey or signed up for military service? No doubt they were packed with military or service contractors looking for a taste of home.

Feeling the pat on her shoulder, Delila pulled Siobhan into a hug. Which was harder than it looked, mainly due to Sio's large frontal assets. Now, who was trolling who?

"I'm sure you'll be back soon enough to boss me around."

[member="Delila Castillon"]

Since this writer has heard that Dells sold the ultrachrome armour she had acquired during the Rebel raid, they have not at all arbitrarily decided that Siobhan had been so nice to simply put one in her closet. Along with some shiny things. After all, they never specified just how many suits of armour Siobhan took with her. Or rather levitated in ridiculously packed crates.

Siobhan looked happy at the hug and pulled Dells into an embrace. Presumably this led to contact with her...assets, which weren't that big! It's not like she was Power Girl. Well, she wore proper armour instead of some stripperific spandex suit with a massive cleavage window.

"Oh, definitely. Besides, you're nice to look at. If there's any problems, just call, ok? I'll be right there then." That's right, big pseudo-sis would be there to help! Still the words were spoken rather warmly and heartfelt. Then she released the redhead. "Well, I'll be off then. Take care, Delly."

[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]

Delila hugged Siobhan tightly back before releasing her. Didn't want the brunette to get any ideas if she lingered! Delila left such activities to [member="Anemone Nivalis"] .No doubt Siobhan would be back more than often to continually annoy her. It seemed the two would be inseparable for a little while longer.

"Have a nice trip home. Don't come back too soon, I'll be sure to send holoupdates!"

With that, Siobhan was kicked back to Kaeshana or whatever battle attracted her attention at the moment.
