OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: The Bounty Hunters Guild
  • Affiliation: The Bounty Hunters Guild
  • Model: CG-WCT1 (Carbonite Gun Whipcord Thrower Variant One)
  • Modularity: Though typically designed as a wrist-mounted weapon, it can be modified as an attachment for a blaster or slugthrower, for example. Technically the Carbonite could be substituted for a different substance, though it would probably require serious modification to the technology to accommodate the new substance used. The whipcord itself could be changed out for a different kind of metal as well.
  • Production: Limited (Only one small group of characters. IE: A Single Minor Faction, Company, or Group within a faction.)
  • Material: Carbonite, Durasteel, electronics.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Whipcord Launcher/Chemical Weapons
  • Size: Small
  • Weight: Average
  • Ammunition Type: Liquid Carbonite Cannisters, line of cabling
  • Ammunition Capacity: Small
  • Effective Range: Personal
  • Rate of Fire: None
  • Stopping Power: Extreme
  • Recoil: None
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Magnetic Clamped Liquid - Utilizing Magnetic Clamp technology within the Whipcord launcher, liquid Carbonite adheres to the surface of the metallic whipcord as it exits the launcher. This gives the launcher the ability to change out either the material of the whipcord or the substance to surround it through modification, without any overcomplicated machinery. The launcher itself is already capable of lacing the whipcord with a chosen material, however, it is designed specifically to use liquid Carbonite. This specific technology also makes it easier for the whipcord to adhere to a target without losing its grip even if the cord should somehow be detached from the launcher.
  • Carbonite Wristgun - Utilizing the same technology as a Carbonite Gun, through the limited use of Liquid Carbonite Cannisters located in the back of the launcher, it fires an ion stream of liquid carbonite through the launcher, where it travels along the surface of the whipcord in transit due to the magnetic clamps, and deposits itself on the target. The liquid then rapidly expands and freezes around them the longer they are wrapped up in the whipcord until the canisters are empty.
STRENGTHS
  • Sticky Fingers - There is something about Bounty Hunting, Carbonite, and fancy Whipcord launchers that somehow gravitate them together. The Carbonite Whipcord Launcher is a testament to this, as it combines technology to create the ultimate piece of equipment to subdue a target's mobility to nil. First, they are wrapped up in a cable with a Bounty Hunter on the other end. Next, that cable magnetizes to them regardless of the material they are wearing, and lastly, the cord acts as a highway for an ion stream of liquid carbonite that rapidly expands and freezes around them in perfect immobility. This makes it all too easy for a Bounty Hunter that sees his target, to quickly immobilize them and prep them for transport.
WEAKNESSES
  • Ammo - The launcher as a result of its smaller size does not leave much room for additional canisters, and any more than a couple of canisters leaves the wrist-mounted launcher heavier than most other launchers of the same size. Theoretically, it could be modified into a blaster attachment, but the limiting factor of its ultimate effectiveness is still tied to how many canisters it can hold, which suffice to say is not many more than one.
  • Restocking - Given the nature of how it acquires its target, this launcher is not easily reset to be fired again, as the whipcord needs to be reeled back or replaced and the canister replaced after every use. This is very much a single fire, single target weapon. Conceivably, it could be reloaded mid-battle behind cover or some other concealed area, but not in the middle of combat.
DESCRIPTION

The Bounty Hunters Guild has come across troubled times in recent history, finally recovering the Long Drought of the 400 Year Darkness. Though it did have its own resurgence after the darkness with a number of different leaders, in recent years many agree it had fallen into disrepair. After several groups of independent Bounty Hunters attempted to abduct Valencia Hadley Valencia Hadley , the Counselor to the Vicelord of the CIS, the reputation of Bounty Hunting itself became at stake for such a massive and publically denounced failure. The Guild immediately after underwent a dramatic reorganization, which disposed of the old leadership and began to reinstitute old traditions, forge new policies, alongside a massive recruitment drive. As part of this recruitment, they needed a means of incentivizing the professionalism to expect of a union of Bounty Hunters, and have begun to do this by offering unique technical developments specific to Bounty Hunting exclusively only to their guild through the exchange of Guild Merits. The first such piece of equipment designed after personal experience by the Guilds members, is the Carbonite Whipcord Launcher, a novel combination of technologies that complement each other and belongs in the hands of every Guild Member.
