At a glance, there is not much to Malthus - A human above all else, though he rarely removes his helmet. His armor despite its age is rather clean, save for cracks and dents in it due to the harsh environments and battles he has fought in. If seen without his helmet or armor on, there is a noticeable dark side corruption in the form of a black ichor that stains his features. This same ichor can be seen oozing from the cracks in his armor.

Malthus is a soldier above all else, and has proven his mettle on the battlefield time after time across time; from his humble beginnings in the Sith Empire, through the New Imperial Order and across numerous theaters of war. On the ground he is a sharp minded and efficient leader, taking what troops he has and utilizing their experience as a shocktrooper unit to take the enemy by storm. He is an excellent marksman and skilled in close quarter combat, and his tactics with smaller troop counts and utilization of guerilla tactics lead the enemy to believe they are against a much larger force.

Captain Malthus is one of Darth Bellum's top infantry officers, with skills and tactics that have withstood the test of time and remained sharper than a razor's edge. The years of service under the former Sith Empire and New Imperial Order have served him well after the disappearance of the 13th Umbral Legion following Operation Kyber Dark. Having been banished to Otherspace, the 13th Umbral Legion had been hard at work establishing a base of operations under the supervision of Captain Malthus and others and regrouping. Despite the harsh conditions and lack of immediate resources, it was a task that was accomplished until the return of their lord and commander.

With their banishment from the Galaxy as it is known, Malthus like the rest of the 13th Umbral Legion are bound to Otherspace. While they are able to temporarily break free from it to be deployed to real space, they soon get pulled back to the realm from which they are anchored - this makes their appearance on the field brief and fleeting.

The concept of fear has been erased from Captain Malthus, like all members of the 13th Umbral Legion; the only fear they truly feel is the thought of what may happen should they fail their lord - They fight with unwavering ferocity and will charge headfirst into battle to break the enemy's lines and spirit. Captain Malthus is effective in this method when it comes to commanding his squad, able to overtake enemy positions and break across the battlefield.
