BIOGRAPHY:
Birch Crowley was born on Corellia within Coronet City. Birch's parents were wealthy merchants that transported goods along the Corellian Run, The Corellian Trade Spire, The Triellus Trade Route, and beyond. Moving goods from planet to planet, between various governments. It was a profitable life style, with Birch spending his days growing up in the depths of space. Running a ship came just as naturally to Birch as walking.
Birch was well into his teenage years when tragedy struck. The fleet was making a trip down the Kessel Run when creatures from the depths of the Maw Nebulae attacked. The ships and their crews tried to fight the beasts, but as the tentacles wrapped around the vessels, defeat was assured. The hulls creaked and warped, before the vessels were torn asunder.
Ship after ship disappeared into the Nebulae, until all that remained was the flagship upon which Birch and his parents were located. As the tentacles burst out from the gasses and wrapped around the ship, his parents forced Birch into an escape pod. The crew fired the cannons and wounded the beast. Providing an opening for the escape pod to be launched before the next attack came.
The last thing Birch saw of his parents, was their ship being crushed and dragged deep into the Maw Nebulae. But where Birch thought it might have been over, creatures began to circle his escape pod, preparing to attack. Some might have begged and prayed for salvation, but Birch accepted his fate in that moment. Prepared for death as creatures bumped against the craft.
But just when all hope was lost, flame shot forth from void. The creatures of the Nebulae fled in fear. The last thing Birch remembered of that night, was the shape of a creature many spacers believed existed only in myth, that of a Duinuogwuin.
When he awoke, his escape pod was landed upon Kessel. He had no clue exactly where he was, only that he was somewhere upon the Spice Mine World, and that he was now all alone. With this information, Birch set off north in search of some land mark or another that would let him know where he was.
Birch spent weeks wandering and surviving in the wildernesse, before finally arriving to Kessendra. He was half starved, his clothes were in tatters, and he was barely recognizable. A healer in the city took him in and looked after Birch, nursing him back to health.
When he was strong enough, he left the healer and bargained his way onto a ship. Trading labour for a trip back home to Corellia.
Birch arrived back to Corellia a few weeks later. What he found upon his arrival, however, broke his heart. His family home had been abandoned and fallen to ruin, while his families business had been taken over by a competitor.
With his family fortune stolen from him and no way to reclaim what was lost, Birch had no other choice but to start over from scratch. With his only real life skills and experience being that of a sailor, Birch sought out a crew to join at the space port. Little could he have imagined that he would happen upon the Pirate crew of Bernal "Mad Eye" Sutherland.
He spent the next several years rising up through Mad Eye's crew, and learning what it meant to be a pirate. He also made the acquaintance of Ramsden "Merciless" Rutherford and Vera "Foxy" Godwin, both of them relatively new members of Mad Eye's crew, having joined up shortly after Birch. With an eye out for his future, Birch made friends with Ramsden and Vera, earning their loyalty to him and him alone.
Something that proved valuable one day when, after they had raided their latest vessel, Birch challenged Mad Eye to a game of cards for the captaincy of the new vessel. Thanks to some good "luck", Birch won the game and Mad Eye handed over the ship to Birch, which he named the Wyvern, in honour of the Duinuogwuin that had saved his life all those years ago.
Ramsden and Vera followed Birch over to his new vessel, along with several other members of Mad Eye's crew that had grown to like Birch.
Since then, Birch and his crew of the Wyvern have flown the Hyperlanes, raiding and plundering vessels. taking their cargo and selling it in various free ports across the Galaxy. Growing the reputation of Captain "Hunter" Crowley...
