For all the nerves that had been there at the beginning, she moved easily now, carried by memory and music rather than thought. Aselia found herself matching that ease without meaning to, letting the turn carry them through the last stretch of the song as the noise of the reception softened into something distant around them.
"That would make planning easier," she said, the faintest hint of amusement touching her voice. "Unless you intended to make me track you down, you could make a game out of it, I suppose."
Her hand remained steady at Adelle's back, the hold still proper enough for the room they were in, but less formal than it had been when the dance began. There was comfort in that small change, in the way neither of them had to force the steps anymore. She could feel eyes on them now, and then, curious glances from those who recognized one or both of them, but Aselia paid them no mind. Let them look. For once, she wasn't interested in giving the room more attention than it deserved.
The music began to slow, the final notes drawing out beneath the hum of conversation and laughter around them. Aselia guided them through the last turn with ease, bringing them back to a natural stop rather than an abrupt end. Her hand lingered at Adelle's back for only a moment before easing away.
"I'll send you mine when we get back to the table," she said, meeting Adelle's gaze with that same restrained warmth she had allowed through in flashes all evening. "Then we can find a time when neither of us is being pulled into a war room, a hospital, or whatever disaster Aether decides needs handling next. Thank you for the dance, Adelle."
