CAGE MATCH: Connor vs. Sebastian (Spectators Encouraged)

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! BEINGS OF ALL SHAPES AND SIZES! TAKE YOUR SEATS!" The amplified voice of a game show announcer boomed across the usually tranquil lawns of the Voss Academy. "ONLY A FEW MINUTES LEFT BEFORE THE COMBATANTS ENTER THE THUNDERDOMEEEE!"

Jedi and support staff of all ages and standing flowed across the green, heading for a most unjedi-like installation. A portable metal stadium had been erected on the lawns. High sides offered tiered seating for the many spectators and concession stands, selling everything from food and drink to 'cheering aids' (dense metal spheres, rotten fruit, thermal detonators...anything that could be used to add to the chaos in the ring) dotted the stands and area outside. A domed, electrified metal cage covered the center of the arena which was little more than a circle of dusty ground.

The latest holonet bloodsport, THUNDERDOME: DEATH MATCHTM had found its way to Voss. Shocking though it was that such an event had so brazenly approached a Jedi sect, it was still even more shocking that Grandmaster [member="Thurion Heavenshield"] had signed off on it. Rumors had spread like wildfire about who had agreed (or been coerced) into taking part in the match. They ranged from the outlandish (padawan deathmatch with forks) to the twisted (Thurion and Coci vs. their children) to the somewhat more possible (Barabel pack vs. a single master), nobody was quite sure who or what would be thrown into the arena.

Until now.

"HERE WE GO EVERYONE! HOLD ONTO YOUR SEATS--OR DON'T IF YOU THINK THROWING IT AT THE COMPETITORS WILL MAKE IT MORE FUN--THIS NEVER BEFORE SEEN THUNDERDOME MATCH IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!"

The cheering was as thunderous as the announcer's voice.

"THIS WILL BE A NO RULES, ANYTHING GOES, ALL OUT MATCH BETWEEN TWO OF THE SILVER COALITION'S SENIOR MASTERS! WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, LET'S GET THEM OUT HERE!"

There was a dramatic pause as lights swirled around chaotically before coming to rest on an opening that had appeared in the north-most part of the Arena.

"ENTERING THE RING FROM THE NORTH COMES A MASTER WHO IS SENIOR IN AGE ONLY. ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY YEARS OLD AND STILL LOOKING YOUNG, THUNDERDOME PRESENTS: SEBASTIAN NADAV! LOOKS LIKE HE'S TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY--NO WALKER TODAY! OR DID HE FORGET IT?!"

Sebastian strode out of the north gate with purpose. Though slightly embarrassed by the introduction, he waved to the crowd while he silently cursed Thurion for picking him to be part of this debacle. Sebastian didn't look like he was dressed for serious combat, wearing only a t-shirt and light pants, no shoes. His lightsabers were held lightly and unlit in his hands as he continued to wave at the cheering (or jeering, he couldn't really tell) crowd. It wasn't long before the lights began to spin again and the announcer's booming voice rang out again.

"ENTERING FROM THE SOUTH GATE COMES A MASTER LESS THAN A QUARTER THE AGE OF THE GRANDPA WE JUST INTRODUCED. I'VE HEARD THAT THIS ONE HAS A FLUID UNDERSTANDING OF JEDI DOCTRINE. WHICH SIDE IS HE ON TODAY?! THUNDERDOME PRESENTS: CONNOR HARRISON!"

Connor stood on the outskirt of the Thuderdome, or rather knelt.

He hadn't wanted to do this but [member="Sebastian Nadav"] had pushed his buttons too long, and surprisingly this had been sanctioned for the two Masters to get whatever was in their system well and truly out.

He picked up the dry dirt of the Academy ground, the shadow of the caged arena looming over him as he rubbed it into his palms. He wore little - no armour to hinder him. Just his trousers, heavy boots, belt and black vest. His scars were evident from the years gone by, a canvas of his journey he wasn't ashamed of. Now he was the subject to some gladiatorial battle before others.

Truth be told, he was ready for this. To feel pain and to give it. To let out the frustration on Seb that had been bottled up - to let out the anger from those who looked down on him and questioned him and let him down and didn't trust him.

Standing to cheers as he heard Seb enter, he shook his head at the man's theatrics and moved forward under the erected tent to cover him, and out into the arena. Lights hit him, as did the baying crowd. This couldn't be sanctioned by the Grandmaster, could it? Who cared. He didn't have many people who cared for him anyway probably. It was on.

Connor walked forward, nodding with a smile to the lovely looking Zabrak who had led him through. His lightsaber hung at his side. They weren't training sabers. They were real, enough to maim and kill. Looking around a full 360 at the giant Thunderdome that he had never been inside, he let the tremors and spikes and pulses in the Force empower him - this was going to be interesting.

Looking to the other side, he saw Seb. For a man he once tried to talk sense into, now the man had come with a thorn in his side, and Connor suspected he was that thorn.

"Nadav!" Connor called. "If you die, you die."

Sebastian didn't even bother to reply, as if he needed the warning. How many battles had he fought in his life? How many arrogant and confused young men had he cut down before their twisted notions could corrupt the Order? Too many. Connor was simply another in the long faceless line, insults and posturing would get them nowhere.

The snap-hiss of Sebastian's lightsabers had barely begun when the ancient Master sprang forward. The Force leaped with him, around him, through him, it let his leap astonishing speed and power. In an instant Sebastian was before the other man. He came to a complete stop, using the Force to transfer his forward momentum directly into Connor's chest, knocking him off balance and sending him sprawling backward.

Blue light flashed as Sebastian ripped his primary saber on a downward diagonal across the man's chest as silver spun in his left hand, reversing his grip on his lefthand saber and pulling it upwards through a vicious pass upward on the opposing diagonal. It was an astonishingly aggressive attack that, if Sebastian had his way, would cleave the sprawling man into four grizzly pieces.

Fingers twitching by his side, weight shifting from one leg to another, Connor started to look around for a familiar face because this whole thing stank to him. The snap-hiss of not one but TWO lightsaber blades snapped his head back to Seb and his attention went 100% to him.

The blades pinpointed where Seb moved, quickly and with purpose, and Connor shifted and circled, pushed back from a burst of Force energy and then forcing himself to lurch back and back again at the violent swipes of the weapons that flashed before his eyes.

The cheers roared around him, and Connor was shocked how fast it had kicked off, and the fact Seb had two blades to his one. That was one factor he hadn't faced an enemy in.

”Poodoo,” he mumbled.

Letting his body go loose to be ready for quick movement, Connor thought there must be another way to fight, something to use - he glanced around but saw nothing. Taking his saber hilt quickly in hand, he ignited the blue blade to more cheers and took semi-circle steps around Seb.

And he moved forward as he rotated, teasing strikes up and above, and below in a series of hits that were simply there to allow Connor to gauge Seb's power, perception and strength.
