PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Caelin is a lean, sharp-featured human man with a roguish swagger and a practiced, theatrical smile. His shaggy blonde hair is slightly unkempt, often falling over his grey eyes. His worn leather duster coat and tailored, high-collared tunics hide a fragile physique battered by Midichlorian Cellular Decay. Dark circles shadow his pale eyes—permanent marks of chronic fatigue and Force-fevers—yet when he steps into a room to perform, he commands attention with effortless poise. While he presents himself with the regal, effortless posture of a legendary Jedi Master, quiet moments in the dark reveal an underlying stiffness, body aches, and occasional tremors in his hands.
INVENTORY
- Modified Lightsaber: A non-functional, jury-rigged lightsaber hilt equipped with a concealed high-output plasma torch for dramatic ignitions, stage tricks, and emergency cutting.
- Wrist-Mounted Repulsor & Shock Emitters: Hidden forearm devices engineered to mimic Force Push, Telekinesis, and sudden bursts of kinetic energy.
- Miniature Hologram Projector: Concealed inside his robes to simulate Force illusions, dramatic atmospheric shifts, and glowing sigils.
- Black-Market Suppressants & Stims: Injectable vials of synthesized Stabil-9 required to freeze his cellular breakdown, manage fever spikes, and keep his body operational.
- Slicer Kit & Sleight-of-Hand Tools: Concealed gear for bypassing security locks, hacking local consoles, and manipulating stage props under pressure.
PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
In many ways a pragmatic nihilist, Caelin views the universe as an uncaring void where survival belongs to those sharp enough to build their own destiny. Far from being a gloomy victim however, he finds an intoxicating adrenaline rush in the performance of the scam itself. Wearing his "Master Sunstrider" persona, he thrives on the thrill of outsmarting marks, dropping smooth pseudo-Jedi wisdom, and commanding a room. Beneath his dry, cynical wit and roguish charm lies a bitter resentment toward the Jedi that discarded him, paired with a buried hunger to actually be the hero he pretends to be.
STRENGTHS
- Master Performative Deceiver: A brilliant actor and stage technician who uses flair, sleight-of-hand, and rhetoric to convince entire settlements he is a powerful Jedi.
- The Thrill-Seeker's Adaptability: Operates with incredible cool-headed composure under pressure, turning unexpected mechanical failures or threats into part of his dramatic performance.
- Resourceful Technologist: Highly skilled at engineering and maintaining complex, concealed gadgetry out of scrap to replicate Force abilities.
WEAKNESSES
- Midichlorian Cellular Decay (Terminal Illness): Suffers from severe physical degeneration, sudden debilitating muscle spasms, chronic fatigue, and intense Force-fevers.
- Addictive Financial Compulsions: Requires constant, expensive supplies of black-market suppressants just to stay alive, forcing him into bigger, riskier cons every month.
- Resentful Arrogance: His deep urge to prove his superiority over true Jedi and impress his audience often drives him to take reckless, ego-driven gambles.
HISTORY
Discovered on Correlia as a child with modest Force sensitivity, Caelin was brought to Shiraya's Sanctuary with high hopes. However, during his adolescent training, his connection to the Force didn't grow—it began to wither. Diagnosed with Midichlorian Cellular Decay (MCD), an immune condition where his body systematically destroys its own midichlorian cells, he was quietly discharged from the Academy as unfit for Knight status.
By age 21, broke and facing severe physical deterioration, Caelin hit rock bottom in the Outer Rim. Refusing to die quietly, he used his mechanical talents to construct hidden repulsor tech and pulled off his very first "Jedi Master" protection con. Posing as a legendary Master, he staged a dramatic "slaughter" of a swoop-gang leader using a flare of his plasma-torch and a wrist-repulsor shockwave, awing the terrified homesteaders into handing over an exorbitant "temple tithe." Experiencing the intoxicating high of deceiving an entire town—and earning the credits needed to buy his first vials of life-saving Stabil-9—he fully embraced his new life. Now he wanders the galaxy as "Master Caelin Sunstrider." Balancing the rush of the ultimate grift with a rapidly ticking biological clock.
