  • Currently: Moving through the Order as one of its polished, trusted faces while quietly pursuing cases that challenge his entire philosophy… especially those rare souls who keep love, family, and goodness without surrendering any of them.

    OVERVIEW

Caelis Vern is the sort of Jedi critics imagine when they speak of the Order at its coldest. Beautiful, composed, and impeccably mannered, he has taken every noble ideal associated with Jedi service and pared it down until only the blade remains. He believes suffering can be instructional, separation can be merciful, and that being resented is preferable to failing in Duty. He does not think of himself as cruel. That is what makes him dangerous.

He was surrendered to the Order in childhood beneath the language of honor and destiny. That wound never left him; it was simply polished, sanctified, and renamed. Now he moves through the galaxy with grave courtesy, quietly stripping others from what they love most while calling the emptiness freedom.

    Personality

His primary motivator is Purity, sharpened by a near-religious devotion to Order. Caelis experiences disorder in the soul as something shameful; he looks at grief, love, fear, and dependence and immediately begins sorting which parts are rightful and which ought to be cut away. His resting emotional state is not rage, but contempt held under perfect control. He remains calm in nearly every circumstance, which lends him an air of wisdom that often hides how little tenderness actually lives beneath it.

Reserved, conventional, and exacting, Caelis is difficult to move once he has reached a judgment. He values composure, ritual, austerity, and self-command. He is courteous without warmth, attentive without softness, and paternal in a way that makes people feel handled rather than held. He does not raise his voice. He does not need to. A pause, a lowered gaze, the careful placement of a single sentence; those are more than enough.

He mistakes closeness for erosion. The more he begins to care, the harsher he becomes, as though affection itself were a crack through which chaos might enter. That contradiction defines him: a man who speaks endlessly of compassion yet cannot offer it without trying to reshape the person receiving it.

    APPEARANCE

Caelis wears restraint like ceremonial dress. He is a handsome human man in his late thirties, tall and lean, with the sort of cultivated grace that puts others at ease before the chill has time to settle. His complexion is fair and even, his features composed, and his ash-brown hair is kept immaculately neat with only the faintest touch of silver beginning at the temples. Pale gray-gold eyes rest on others with unnerving patience, observant without ever seeming hurried.

His clothing favors ivory, cream, pearl, pale sand, and muted gold, every line clean, every layer arranged with almost devotional care. Nothing about him appears feral, ragged, or excessive. He looks correct; saintly, even. That is part of the trap.

    Notable markings:

A thin, old scar beneath the ribs, usually hidden beneath robes.

A second pale mark near one shoulder blade, subtle enough to vanish unless he is seen in close detail.

    TROPES

  • Backstory

Caelis was born into a respected Core World family with polished manners, educational prestige, and just enough proximity to power to make sacrifice feel ornamental. His parents did not lose him to the Jedi; they gave him. They spoke of honor, of destiny, of the Light, and the temple received him with all the grace and ceremony one might grant an offering laid upon an altar.

    He adapted too well.

Within the Order he excelled not because he burned brightest, but because he endured deprivation cleanly. Teachers praised his calm in moments when other initiates wept, raged, or faltered. Mentors admired his self-command, his restraint, and the near-frightening ease with which he could set personal desire aside. Over time, that praise hardened into identity. He learned to call absence clarity, hunger discipline, and grief proof that severance had been necessary.

As he rose, Caelis became the sort of Jedi trusted with delicate moral labor. He mediated disputes, represented temple interests in matters of custody and doctrine, assessed Force-sensitive children, and was sent where the Order needed a voice that sounded merciful while delivering something colder. Publicly he became admired for his composure and orthodoxy. Privately he grew convinced that attachment, left unchecked, was the first rot in every fall.

And yet something in him remains unsettled.

Just before he was taken to the temple as a child, his mother said something he can no longer fully remember. Only shards remain; enough to haunt, never enough to answer. A Force-sensitive child who refused Jedi custody and still thrived has since become a contradiction he cannot release. If love, family, and goodness can coexist without surrender… then the entire shape of his life may have been built upon a wound renamed as wisdom.
