Description: In response to the state of the art starfighters that most galactic governments employ, the Echani Compact was forced to either accept those designs and purchase them, putting them on par with the governments that use them, or employ their own designers. They chose the latter. The goal given was simple: develop a frontline starfighter capable of fulfilling most roles, with the exception of the role of bomber. The end result was the C1 model of what has been ordained as the Foil-class Starfighter, named after one of the famous Echani hand-to-hand weapons.

The ships design is simple. Modeled somewhat after various ships of the past, it posses a wing design shaped much like a slanted C, hence the model designation. These C-wings provide stability and allow for flexible maneuverability when the ship is in atmosphere. Frontal fins allow for quick turning abilities as directed by the twin yoke design, allowing it to maneuver better than the older single yoke fighter craft. The ship is fast and agile. It has a slim frontal profile to make it harder to see.

What it makes up for in the above characteristics it lacks in firepower. Rather than the twin torpedo launchers of many modern fighter craft, it has only one. It also only has two laser cannons rather than the four that the modern Republic fighters have (see the X-83 TwinTail X-wing Starfighter). In addition, while the hull is made of the same material as most starfighters of the common era, it is thinner than most in order to make the ship faster and more maneuverable.

Still, the vessel possess the capability that was asked of it, providing a craft that can go toe to toe with most fighters as well as the ability for quick operations. The jamming systems allow for the vessels to pounce on the rear ships in an enemy convoy without the ships being able to call for help. Their speed allows them to move in swiftly, attack, and bug out.

This fighter is the first in a line that will expand as time, and needs, continue to develop.
