SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Load-carrying webbing allows incredibly versatile personalization for where, what kind, and how much equipment, weapons, and ammunition.
  • There are several components, a main vest with a front, back, a groin protector, and smaller side sections, a pair of shoulder pads, and thigh pads all connected by locking buckles. There are also sections on forearms and fronts of the shins. Each of these sections has plates made of a core of woven Heat-Resistant Carbonite and Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene with a layer of Laminasteel around it and dipped in a plastoid coating. These plates are sewn into pouches inside the Kevlar main vest which only come in black, khaki, and white. (But can be ordered to custom patterns or colors by private sector customers.)
  • Technically, the system includes a two-part backpack which buckles onto the top of the shoulder straps and the bottom of the back of the vest, and a belt of kevlar and Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene weave with webbing where additional pouches or a holster can be added.
STRENGTHS
  • Provides excellent protection wherever there is armor plate.
  • More comfortable to wear long-term than a whole suit of armor like Clone Trooper Armor or Stormtrooper Armor.
  • Makes no noise when moving.
  • Lets the wearer customize their own loadouts depending on the mission and lets them carry far more equipment than can be carried in traditional armor suits.
  • Easier to put on than a suit of armor and doesn't require custom fitting.
WEAKNESSES
  • Heavier than traditional plastoid armor.
  • Takes a little while to fully don the armor.
  • Doesn't protect against chemical, biological, or radiological threats on its own.
DESCRIPTION
This armor setup has been in use by the CRAF for centuries, with upgrades only being applied to the plates themselves. This customizable setup has been key to the CRAF's immense value it places on its individual personnel. Every single soldier, crewman, and marine is issued a full set of this armor, although only the infantry are really found to be wearing the entire setup, with non-combat personnel only wearing the vest itself.

However this armor has its limits, shrapnel and ballistic weapons can find their way in between the plates to do damage, and explosive and concussion effects will kill the wearer easily. And obviously a lightsaber will cut through this material like butter.
