TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Classification: Virus
Method of Consumption: Contractible via direct injection, and contact transmission. The latter covers direct, smear and indirect contact infections. Can also be transmitted through blood and tissue.
Average Life: Average life span of two days inside a host. In the case of survival the host will require several days of recovery. When outside a host it can survive for thirty minutes - ten minutes in direct UV radiation.
Nutritional Value/Allergies/Side Effects/ Purpose: It is a virus, so it possesses no nutritional value.
Purpose:
Stage 1 - the early symptoms of the virus are comparable to a flu: fever, chills, body aches, nausea, headaches, sore throat, chest discomfort, fatigue, coughs, general malaise. Congestion can also ensue.
Stage 2: The symptoms of the prior stage worsen. Violent, painful coughing. Thick, dark muscus manifests. Moving and breathing become increasingly difficult. Numbness creeps up a victim's limbs, and flesh grows stiff. Speech is also affected.
Stage 3: The skin often turns pale grey with some rough patches of black. Essentially, the victim's bones and tissues are turning to stone. The virus attacks the victim's internal organs. At this stage the victim is still conscious, but essentially paralysed, and suffers from spasms. Before long they will enter into a coma. They are non-responsive, though brain functions continue.
Stage 4: At this stage, death ensues unless very urgent measures have been taken.
These stages can play out over the course of twenty-four to forty-eight hours, depending on how strong the patient's immune system is.

- The virus is highly lethal and fast-acting. Initial symptoms are typical of the common flu, which can lead a victim to underestimate its nature and effects until things suddenly get very nasty.
- Incredibly resistant to Bacta.
- Advanced Force Healing and its sub-applications can treat the symptoms of the disease and may delay the start of its later stages. The same applies to Kolto-based pharmaceuticals. It is best to use this form of treatment in the early stages; otherwise it produces diminishing returns. Of course, the healer in question will still have to adhere to proper safety proceedings in order to avoid becoming infected themselves.
- The virus is not airborne, which imposes limitations on spread and speed of transmission.
- The virus is short-lived outside of a host. The spread is the key weakness because it's incredibly deadly but hard to spread leading to low transmission numbers.

The division is also charged with the creation of biological weapons. BW-4218-A is their latest creation. The virus is highly lethal and fast-acting, though more constrained in regards to transmission. As a result, it is more meant for targeted, surgical strikes.
Archangel scientists tested it on captured pirates, death row inmates and other individuals mainstream society will not care about. If some of those inmates were actually on the death row purely because they had inconvenienced certain national governments eager to outsource passing sentence...well, that is not Archangel's problem. Justice is the domain of states, not corporations. Archangel's role is merely the facilitation of a state's sovereign rights and obligations.
