First Reply Buyer on Bracca

Arris Windrun found herself on Bracca, in the market for her first starship.

A spacer had told her about the junk world--said it was the best place to look on a budget, and that she'd find all sorts of rare and wonderous hulls. He even gave her the name and address of the 'best starship dealer in the galaxy' who had a shop there. And so she arrived, and so she bought a ship.

Only...

It was junk.

What was once a beautiful Aggressor-class assault fighter had been stripped of practically any useful bits and remained an empty frame caked in rust and dust. There was no reactor, no hyperdrive, and very little left to work with. At least the weapons were left mostly intact.

She was one frustrated gal, understandably so, and wandered around the damn junker spaceport looking for anyone who could lend a hand.

"Hey, are you a mechanic?"

She went around asking everyone in sight.

Adonis had been sent to Bracca because it was a newer planet in Mandalorian territory. They wanted to make their presence known without looking like they sent death squads to patrol. So Aether sent some of his scariest dogs there to make sure it was understood that this was Mandalorian territory now. Even if they weren't crawling everywhere. Plus it gave him a chance to get away from combat for a bit.

The Knight stood almost seven feet tall in his armor, equipped with his lightsaber and a rather large blaster strapped to his back. He was there to send a message, so that's what he would do. He separated from the others in his group and wandered closer to a group who were bartering. Adonis wasn't here to buy anything personally, but he needed to know if there were any illicit markets they should be aware of. He was about to get a good read on their conversation when he was approached by a woman, taller than most Adonis encountered, but still much shorter than he.

"Yeah, and I charge double when people ask."

Arris had been busy chatting up a Duros who insisted time and time again that he only worked on droids.

"Well, fine then!" She threw a dismissive hand and turned away from him.

"Yeah, and I charge double when people ask."

She started to ask around again and turned to spy the source of who said that. She didn't expect to have to look up, and she definitely didn't expect to have to look up that far.

"Whoooa! You're big, aintcha?" She chuckled. "Double whatever offer I throw at you?" She asked, only half-joking.

It wasn't so much just his height that surprised her. The armor, too, added to the perception that she was speaking with a giant of some kind or another.

The cyborg placed a hand on each hip, her chin still tilted upward. "Y'know, you don't really seem the mechanic type. You some kind of merc?" She wondered.

Her next immediate thought was some kind of bounty hunter or lawman. "I do wanna add that I'm not wanted or anything!" Technically untrue, but she hoped warrants from Talus didn't travel this far. Or if they did, that no one would care.

The hulking Mandalorian let out a chuckle as the woman spoke. He realized that he likely was coming off a bit intimidating at first. While that was kind of his job here, he feared the woman actually needed help. So he went and took his helmet off, revealing his short black military haircut and his youthful smile. He was still only in his early twenties, even if the Mandalorian's wars had made him lose that childlike optimism.

"Yeah, I'm a mercenary like a thermal detonator is a candle." His dry humor was followed by a light chuckle. He had some experience now with the Mandalorians learning how to fix different equipment they had there. It seemed he was her best chance, seeing as the rest of the people were mostly ignoring her. Plus, it had been a while since he had followed someone to what could only be described as a very likely trap. Especially on Bracca.

"The name's Adonis." His smile tipped as he continued, "I'm here as a Mandalorian warrior on behalf of Mandalore the Iron to visit Bracca and check in on the locals." He looked her up and down, noticing she wasn't quite like the rest of the people here, she seemed more...dangerous. "You don't seem to be a local, but I can try to help nonetheless." Adonis's hulking frame then lowered itself a bit to get closer to her height, his dark brown eyes meeting hers.

"What can I do for you, Miss..." He trailed off waiting to see if she would introduce herself.

She certainly didn't expect a young man when the helmet came off.

"A Mandalorian?" She mused aloud. "I can't say I'm much familiar with this 'Mandalore the Iron."

She said as if she hadn't been in the same room as him during the Galactic Kaggath. Still, she didn't know she was in the same room as one current and two former Sith Emperors either.

"You're right, Adonis, I am not a local."

"What can I do for you, Miss..." He trailed off waiting to see if she would introduce herself.

"Oh! Uhm... Arris Windrun," She extended a cold metal hand.

The woman was more cybernetics than flesh at a glance, though synthflesh did cover much of it.

"Well, it's kinda embarrassing, actually..." She chuckled. "See, I came here to buy a ship - only problem is it's a piece of junk. Literally. No engine, no power plant, no hyperdrive.... And, of course, no refunds. So I'm trying to find parts and someone to help me install them."

It was a junkyard world after all, surely what she needed had to be here.

"Well, Ms. Windrun," He paused as he looked around, he had lost his fellow Mandalorians in the crowds, likely touring a waterhole or shaking down a crime lord. That meant he didn't have to answer to them and let them know where he was going or what he was doing.

"That's quite the conundrum." Adonis said as he shook her hand, his cold metal crushgaunts fitting appropriately with her metal hand. In the line of work and life Adonis was in, the sight of cyborgs or those with prosthetics was commonplace. Some didn't even have a quarter of the synthflesh Arris had. Though he had spent time learning the ships in the Mandalorian armada, that didn't necessarily translate over to digging through junk piles for different kinds of ship parts. That being said, Adonis's personal sense of honor wouldn't allow him to let her go at this alone.

"I suggest we start with a local shop. I think they'll listen to me." He winked as he looked around, using his height to their advante, then he spotted something that looked like a parts shop. "Helmet or no helmet?" He looked back down to her, wondering how much intimidation factor she wanted from him.

Arris was a little surprised, and it showed on her face when he offered to assist her.

A bit confused as to what he proposed until...

"Helmet or no helmet?"

She grinned.

"Helmet."

Together they walked to the nearby parts shop. Along the way, Arris's curiosity got the better of her.

"So what's your err... 'Job' like," she wasn't sure what to call it. "I've never fought for anything that didn't have plenty of pay behind it."

Adonis grinned as she told him to put the helmet on. He knew that the locals here were aware of the Mandalorian occupation, and he knew that they were weary of the Empire and their motives. That didn't mean that they weren't also terrified of them.

He put the helmet on his head with a hiss as it connected to the rest of his power armor. His voice was now over the vocoder as he replied.

"Who said I'm not getting paid plenty to be here right now?" He chuckled, though through the armor it sounded deeper. "The Mandalorians took me in when no one else would, when my family wanted me dead." His voice trailed off, realizing that wasn't as fun to get into as some drama with the local parts shop. "Plus, they give me some of the biggest guns I've ever seen."

As they neared, Adonis looked toward her, "Follow my lead." The playfulness of his voice was evident even through the vocoder.

The Mandalorian warrior pushed past the small curtain that was separating the business from the public, and he lowered his helmet as he entered, not wanting to hit his head on the low ceilings. He had maybe two inches between him and the ceiling. "Excuse me, I am here on orders of Mandalore the Iron." He put his hands on the table in front of him, waiting for someone to come out.

"Yeah, and I'm here on order of Tef-" The voice stopped as it turned the corner, revealing the small Twi'lek man who was behind the counter. He couldn't have stood more than five and a half feet, dwarfed by the Mandalorian and still decently shorter than Arris. "Erm, what can I do for the esteemed Mandalore? I'm not aware of any protection payment being set up..." Adonis could tell he was nervous, the locals weren't sure what kind of Mandalorians they were. Luckily for him, they were less the pillaging kind, and more the keep out my way I'll keep out yours kind.

"Nothing so serious, sir." Adonis looked down at the man, though he couldn't see it, Adonis was smiling. "I am here to map out the land, and my ship crapped out on me." He motioned to Arris beside him, "My mechanic here is going to give you the list of what I need to fix it." Adonis then patted Arris on the back, almost pushing her up to say her part. "Don't mind her lack of armor or a helmet, she's still a foundling." He kind of enjoyed putting her on the spot like that.

"And you know we're good for it." The Knight finished his sentence by shifting his weight slightly, the large gun on his back adjusting, catching the attention of the already scared Twi'lek.
