Braze wasn't having any progress even with his arm brace supplying his muscles with electricity so he could work it out every day. Which he did—strenuously so. He tried and tried and tried to no avail and wondered if he was just making excuses for himself to continue to be this way. The thought of cutting off his arm was unbearable. He didn't want to cut his arm off and thought perhaps he could seek out a second medical opinion and went to find Shan Pavond in the medical bay.

Maybe he needed a second medical opinion. Desperation drove him to seek out Shan Pavond in the medical bay on the big herd ship where most of the young had been moved. Perhaps it was futile, but Braze hoped for some help in finding out why his arm just wasn't working. He specifically asked for Knight Pavond to examine it, as he didn't appreciate strangers poking and prodding at him.

Maybe it was deniall.

The thought of replacing his limb with a cybernetic unnerved him greatly and deeply disturbed him. What if he lost all sensation in his arm forever? What if the cybernetics malfunctioned? What if he never felt whole again? What if the procedure went wrong and he lost more than just his arm? What if the cybernetic malfunctioned in the middle of a battle, leaving him defenseless? What if he became dependent on regular maintenance and repairs, making him feel more like a machine than a person? The idea of his arm being replaced haunted him in both his nightmares and waking momments, bringing vivid images of cold metal and wires where flesh and bone used to be.

These thoughts tormented him, each scenario playing out vividly in his imagination. It was a profound sense of sorrow coupled with frustration that enveloped him, with a heavy weight pressing down on his spirit. Braze's desperation to overcome this obstacle was matched only by his fear of the unknown, a fear that gnawed at him relentlessly.

He remembered the words of his mentors, the encouragement of his friends, but even those comforting thoughts couldn't fully dispel the dread he felt in the pit of his heart. Braze was a warrior, a Jedi in training, yet this struggle made him feel powerless.

He waited anxiously, unable to sit still as his mind played out all kinds of uniquely creative horrors. What if the surgery caused nerve damage, leaving him in constant pain? What if the cybernetic arm made him a target for enemies who could exploit its weaknesses? What if it failed at a critical moment, costing the lives of his friends or his own? What if the replacement arm changed who he was, making him feel alienated from his own body? These thoughts spiraled through his mind, each one more terrifying than the last, amplifying his anxiety and making it hard to focus on anything else.

There were plenty of different things for Shan to be working on right now. His mind had been drawn into so many different directions, he barely knew which way was forward, backwards, vertical or diagonal. All he knew was that he was going to have to keep moving in any direction. Time waited for no Mirialan. Until the day that Shan could stop time with the Force, he wasn't going to drop his work for anything! Well, that was maybe a lie. There were one or two situations that would get him to stop things but that wasn't going to happen anytime soon. Ain't nothing gonna break his stride! His stride forward into helping people.

He was taking note of any supplies that he'd need to get next time he left the station, tapping his datapad with the back of his nail in thought. He liked to try and make sure there were more supplies than they needed. It was better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Of course, it was mostly out of his own pocket. He'd need to figure out some way to save up some credits for his own future plans. Come to think of it, he'd also need to start refilling his own supplies for being out in the field. He had used plenty dealing with evacuees on Coruscant...after getting stuck in a shuttle that he couldn't get out of until the fight had been over...

No. Don't focus on that. He had felt bad enough leaving Zaiya alone with Lossa. It was just time for him to work harder than he normally would. Shan could rest when he was dead. Or broken. Or well...one of the various conditions that would leave him incapable of actually working. There was actually quite a few potentialities. Broken arm, broken leg, broken bag...A lot of broken things now that he thought about it. Once again though, he had to try and not stay focused on it.

That was when he was snapped out of his thoughts by the arrival by the little lad Braze Braze , causing Shan to just raise his hand in greeting. He wasn't sure what the little dude was wanting, but hey. It was nice to see a somewhat familiar face. That reminded him though, that he hadn't spoken to Corazona or Ko in a while...Hm...

"Heya Braze. I can be with you in a second. Just taking stock and all that fun stuff."

The medical droid was being unbearably slow in unwrapping the bandages around her middle. Eloise waited a few seconds before she lost patience. "Force, I could do this faster!" she snapped, slapping the droid's arm away before she began unwinding the strips of bacta-soaked gauze herself.

She'd been impaled by a Sith lightsaber during the invasion of Coruscant, then later electrocuted. The lightning scars weren't too much of a problem; they had de-ionized her as soon as they evacuated. But walking around with a hole in your torso was a different story. That had required surgery and a nice long soak in a bacta tank.

At least she wasn't a cripple or missing limbs. She poked and prodded the scar tissue above her stomach. It was a pretty fething big scar, and not as cool looking as she'd hoped it would be.

"Heya Braze. I can be with you in a second. Just taking stock and all that fun stuff."

Huh. Braze was here? He hadn't fought on Coruscant. They didn't let kids fight in the big battles. Er, how old was Braze again? It felt like Shan had been a teenager only a year ago, now he was a grown ass man with a soul patch. No wait, those were just his facial tattoos. Maybe she could get a tattoo to spruce up her scar...

"Braze!" she yelled across the Vonnuvi's medical bay. "How old are you?"

"Heya Braze. I can be with you in a second. Just taking stock and all that fun stuff."

"O-okay," Braze called back, trying to clear his throat. It was tight, making it hard to talk at that moment. He was trying hard to keep his composure and appear calm, but the truth was far from it.

He blinked, hearing his name called by another voice. He tuned in, becoming more aware of his surroundings. He thought he recognized it as belonging to Eloise . He wasn't sure where she was situated in comparison, but he had a vague idea of where her voice came from.

"Fourteen," he called back, swallowing first to raise his voice a little so she could hear him. He didn't seem to have the forethought to consider if loud voices were appropriate indoors, let alone in a hospital setting.

He moved to poke his nose outside the door of the room he was presently in, curious to see if he could figure out where she was. Rather than asking why she wanted to know, he decided on a different question to return, perhaps grateful to have something else to think about and focus on. "How old are you?" His voice was less loud this time as he asked, now that he was standing in the doorway.

Shan blinked at the yelling being thrown across the Med-Bay. Well. At least that meant Eloise still had plenty of energy right now. If she was in a bad condition, she probably wouldn't even be able to yell. He'd normally tell the both of them to be quiet but considering the battle on Coruscant, he thought it would be best to let the rules slide slightly.

"Both of you doing alright? I know Eloise isn't exactly in tip top shape, but what about you Braze? I'd assume you were with your Master during Coruscant? Everything alright?"
It was rare in his eyes, for either Braze or Jasper to go off into a big battle, and for them not to be with each other. Of course, he was curious as to what they were doing during the battle but that was neither here nor there. Come to think of it...He didn't know much about what Eloise had been doing during the battle either. Shan just knew she had gotten hurt at the end of the day.

"Oh. Eloise, if you need anythin' from around the ship, I'll go and get it. Might as well make sure everyone is comfortable whilst they're recovering."

The door leading into the medical store room opened up with a hiss. He'd been here on request to help with sorting the medical supplies inventory checks, general sorting and moving stuff into the right place. Jin would say he had a good memory for where everything went in the past. Strangely the new look of the room at first and boxes still strewn about did not help at first. Thought once motion in the task picked up, the end result felt satisfying. There was something about the repetitive task with a room filled with quiet or hushed conversations.

Jin'lian's eyes scanned the room seeing Shan Shan who'd escaped a few minuets ago, Braze Braze and a jedi he was not so familiar with. "Inventory is done. I'm not aloud to do the orders." Walking around the room a little moving to the first person who clearly needed some assistance. He could help but over hear that Braze was there at coruscant when the battle started. That thought alone seemed scary being there when the giant battle started.

Going over to Eloise first Jin slapped her hand away very gently from poking and prodding at the scar tissue. "You will aggravate it and make the scar worse if you keep doing that. I mean unless you do not want it to fade." His tone did not carry in the same way as if he was simply taking to a person but rather only seeing the girl as a patient in the clinic.

He'd move over to the shelfs in the room with some of the more basic supplies for easy access and took some items bringing them back over in a little blue basket. Crouching down besides the side of the woman and placing the basket besides hed reach in first taking Anticeptin wipes and looked up with a slight hesitation as if waiting for a nod of consent. "I urm can't do much but I am more that happy to provide any assistance. We are a little short handed with well I don't need to say it."

j9tLrW8.png

How come everyone else in Braze's generation was getting older, while he seemed to have stopped aging the moment he reached high school? Then again, he had been sort of a latecomer anyway, arriving right at the tail end of their tenure. It was still weird to her that he was so young.

"How old are you?"

"Almost seventeen," she replied. Her birthday couldn't come soon enough. Being sixteen had kind of sucked.

"Both of you doing alright?"

"I've had worse," Eloise said, grinning darkly. Shan had already turned his attention to Braze, while a furry healer walked in and approached her.

"You will aggravate it and make the scar worse if you keep doing that. I mean unless you do not want it to fade."

It didn't matter than Jin'lian Jin'lian was trying to be gentle. The moment he moved to slap Eloise's hand away, Eloise grabbed his wrist. "Do that again, and I'll make sure the Chief Healer finds out you're harassing patients," she growled before releasing him. The furry might not know that Eloise was the apprentice of Amani Serys Amani Serys , but she wasn't going to take this kind of treatment lying down even if she didn't have that connection. This healer was overstepping his boundaries.

His attempt at making amends by waiting for consent afterward was too little, too late. She took the antiseptic wipes and cleaned the site herself. "The scar is already matured enough that I can begin pressure therapy." At Shan's offer, she said, "If you could get me some Mederma or Vitamin E oil, I'd appreciate it. Or at least point me to some, if you're short-staffed."

Kai'el Brat "Guardian of the Light"

Braze nodded. " Yeah... I'm alright. I was with Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el during our 'boarding party', yes... I'm here to try and get a second opinion on my arm though... " He clarified gently. "That is if you have time for it..."
Braze offered . " What happened to you, Eloise?" He asked standing at the door way. He didn't think he should venture over to her room. He thought he could hear Jin's voice too.

"If you're too busy...I understand. "
Braze offered lightly looking back towards Shan.

Shan raised his hand in greeting towards Jin'lian Jin'lian , giving the padawan some form of acknowledgement. It made sense that thee wouldn't be able to do orders. He'd have to deal with that himself before he was done today. Though as he turned around to get ready to head over towards Braze, he saw Jin heading over towards Eloise Dinn Eloise Dinn ...and then the following confrontation as Shan sucked on his teeth at it. Jin'lian had done one of Shan's big no-nos when it came to working on a patient that was of sound mind. You don't try to touch a patient with their permission. They were still people at the end of the day, and at the end of the day, they could refuse treatment if they wanted to.

"Jin'lian, can you check to make sure anyone who's awake has a drink? I'm sure you must know how important hydration is for someone who's healing, and so I'm trusting you with the job."

Whilst Shan gave a thin-lipped smile in the direction of the Padawan, some might have thought it was just Shan trying to stay on top of things, but it was more him trying to deal with a situation before it got worse. Mostly since if tears started, Shan was not going to be dealing with them. Not his padawan, not his circus.

"I'm here Braze. I have the time to check over your arm. No-one needs my immediate attention. I'll be grabbing Eloise's stuff afterwards. Cleared my schedule for today to just focus on clinical work."

With that, the Mirialan headed over to check on the white haired Padawan, running his hand down his face to try and focus. Sometimes being a padawan was so much more enjoyable then this. Maybe it wasn't too late for him to focus on fighting people instead...No. No. Whether he wanted to or not, Shan's expertise was around healing and supporting. So now...he just had to support Braze Braze

It didn't matter than Jin'lian was trying to be gentle. The moment he moved to slap Eloise's hand away, Eloise grabbed his wrist. "Do that again, and I'll make sure the Chief Healer finds out you're harassing patients," she growled before releasing him. The furry might not know that Eloise was the apprentice of Amani Serys, but she wasn't going to take this kind of treatment lying down even if she didn't have that connection.

When Eloise reached and grabbed the kids wrist, he flinched back. The fur on his tail stood on end tucking close down the back of his leg, ears even flattened against against his head. Looking over to Shan for help with eyes that only had a slither of purple around large oval pupils. It was not particularly hard to read the Catarri's emotions, scared, panicked. "She'd not be happy hearing about people lashing out at the helping hands either." he thought after the jedi growled at him. What savage growls at a little kid?

And though he tried to help she still seemed aggressive and took the items from his hands. It felt best not to say anything to this person nor interact with them. Interacting with people alone was hard enough, never mind having a mission to make friends. He just got up and moved swiftly to get what this person wanted only giving an affirming nod that he'd do that.

It was hard not to show tears but the slowly blurring vision made it obvious that was hard to do. Using the sleeves on his robes Jin wiped them away before having chance to fall. Of course Jin knew his way around the supply room having been kindly taught things over the years with the people in the clinic back on coruscant. Coming back in, the Catarri hesitantly approached this time placing the items in at more of a distance and cautiously.

"Jin'lian, can you check to make sure anyone who's awake has a drink? I'm sure you must know how important hydration is for someone who's healing, and so I'm trusting you with the job."

"Mhmm, on it Knight Shan." Jin said speaking now with a timid voice and moved off to prepare some bottles of water. The kid did not even look up to see the Knights slight smile. While he moved away, Jin came to realise that Braze was wearing a brace over his arm. It looked like something that would be interesting to learn about on a healing side. Was it bad to feel frustrated? he pondered a moment.

The kid sighed to himself once more as he walked to the large fridge where things like bottled water and other foodstuffs that needed to be kept chilled for the medical wing. His hands pressed the button and with a beep and a hiss it opened up. Just as Jin'lian stepped past the large heavy flaps a wave of cool air hit. "Blinking heck its cold in here." Regardless of the cold, he'd begin loading bottles onto a trolly.

"Yeah, go ahead and stand here all scared and try to make me feel guilty," Eloise muttered with disdain. Part of her suspected it was a manipulation tactic. If he was actually upset or frightened because a patient got mad at him, then he wasn't experienced enough to be working in this job. "I tell it like it is. You overstepped. Don't do it again."

Shan intervened, telling the furry to go do something else. Eloise pulled on her shirt and stood up from the exam table, stretching stiff limbs.

"What happened to you, Eloise?"

"I got the business end of a Sith's lightsaber. But it's okay. I killed them all." She was joking. Sort of. "Then a Sith Lord electrocuted me. He got away. I'll get his ass later."

"Wow," Braze trailed off, absorbing the weight of what he'd just heard. Memories of taking Jin'lian's hand flashed vividly in his mind, with Loomi there to witness it all. He felt a wave of uncertainty wash over him. He wasn't Jin'lian or Loomi 's master, and his past interactions with Aris Noble had taught him a valuable lesson: he should refrain from offering assistance or teaching anyone younger than him. Especially if it was by a year. Eloise was older, so she should have known better anyway; she didn't strike him as some one who liked to behave appropriately or give measured responses. He didn't know Jin'lian well enough yet and was unsure if they would want consolation from him.

Shan was probably stressed out right now, given everything that had happened and his role in it all. Braze didn't want to add to that stress. It probably wasn't his place to say anything, even if he might agree with Eloise but disagreed with her approach to someone who had good intentions. He figured she just didn't want to be told what to do by a literal child several years younger, which might have exacerbated the issue further. Maybe she felt insulted or believed she deserved better treatment. Braze couldn't read her mind or thoughts and wasn't connected enough to understand her motivations.

"Did you really kill them all? There must have been a lot—how many did you kill?" Braze asked, his curiosity piqued. He continued his thought process aloud, "I guess that must make you a war hero, huh, Eloise? Think you'll get one of those big, fancy award pins?" Braze asked simply. "I heard they had some pretty nice accolades recently."

Braze found himself reconsidering his decision to seek help. There were clearly many more people injured from the war who actually needed medical attention now. In comparison, Braze was fine, all things considered. His arm was still there, and the brace made it functional, didn't it? There were others far more in need and more deserving of medical attention right now, and he felt a growing unease about wanting to find a better resolution for himself. It was by all means, selfish.

His self-deprecating, overactive mind kept reminding him that he should be thankful instead. At least he had some semblance of functionality, even if it wasn't perfect. The guilt gnawed at him as he thought of the others whose injuries were far more severe, whose suffering was far greater. The thought of taking resources away from them just to improve his own situation made him uncomfortable. Braze's mind was a whirlwind of conflicting thoughts and emotions, struggling to balance his own needs against the greater good.

He sighed, feeling the weight of his internal conflict, thinking about his sense of duty and responsibility. How could he justify seeking help when so many others needed it more? And yet, a part of him longed for a resolution, for a way to feel whole again. The war had taken so much from everyone, and now he was caught in the moral dilemma of prioritizing his own well-being over others. Jedi weren't meant to be selfish after all.

Braze took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm inside. He knew he needed to make a decision, but the path forward was anything but clear.

Shan finally understood what people meant to him when he was working in the med-bay and they said he was too young to be working in them. Of course, he was never emotional when working in the med-bay, but they had probably assumed he was going to be. It was like Zaiya when Shan first met her and they tried to work on someone who had been disrespectful to the girl. Luckily he had managed to help Zaiya calm down over that, but he wasn't sure if he could do the same for Jin'lian Jin'lian . Of course, he was far too busy having to help out Braze in the first place.

He wrinkled his nose at the talk of killing Sith. It wasn't something that should be glorified in his eyes but he understood that his opinion wasn't a popular one amongst the Jedi. More and more of them seemed to be getting raised to be child soldiers, wanting to get more fights than their peers. No. No. Shan shook his head, trying not to focus on that thought point, glancing over towards Eloise Dinn Eloise Dinn when she mentioned that her injury was from an electrocution and tilted his head slightly.

"If you ever want help with that, I can teach you a technique I was taught a while back. Lightning redirection. It's came in pretty useful for me."

If he thought about it, Shan could possibly try to produce lightning himself...but with what the opinion was on the force power, he felt like it was a bad idea. Plus there were very few non-offensive uses for producing lightning. Sure, it could possibly used to revive someone if a defibrillator wasn't available but it still didn't seem like a great idea.

"Anyway. Braze, sit yourself down whilst I get my crystal out."
The healing crystal of fire he had been given for his birthday hadn't made an appearance during his rounds for the day. Shan only brought it for situations where he thought he'd need a little extra boost and regular shifts at the med-bay didn't count as something that needed a regular boost. Though it did remind him that he had to try and find something to help his padawan with her work...

One by one, the boy stacked as many bottles as there were beds with patients, plus a few extra. The coldness of the room nipped at his skin, causing his teeth to slowly begin chattering. While working, the boy couldn't shake a horrible, heavy feeling lashing around inside him. It was an unwanted sensation, unfamiliar to someone unaccustomed to dealing with such explosive Jedi.

The cold air felt strange to breathe in too; its crispness made it easier to take deep breaths. His ears and tail still stuck close to his body, but those few deep breaths readied him to get back out there. With one hand, he pulled the trolley and pushed the heavy rubber flap aside.

The Catarri felt warmth again, and his teeth gradually stopped chattering as he walked back. Of course, the boy kept his eyes down as he re-entered the room. Starting with the closest person, Jin'lian began handing out bottles of water, each with a cup placed on top. He frequently glanced over to watch what Shan was doing, hoping to learn by observation, though it was hard to see or hear from the other side of the room.

Jin found it hard to draw his thoughts away from what had just happened. It felt somewhat similar, yet not quite the same. For some reason, Jin'lian began thinking about Ukatis. He had a crystal in his care that needed attention, a thought that felt like an excuse to find a quieter place. He then recalled earlier in that adventure and how he had embarrassed himself. Despite the good that had happened, the bad felt like it was starting to stack up thirteen-year-old perspective. Trapped in his head, Jin continued to hand out water and cups, albeit rather silently.

Braze seemed impressed.

"Did you really kill them all? There must have been a lot—how many did you kill?"

"I dunno, twenty, twenty-five? I wasn't counting." She stepped into her pants. "Nah, I just sent them on an eternity-long vacation to the Netherworld. Yeah, I killed them all. If I didn't, they'd keep on trying to kill me."

"I guess that must make you a war hero, huh, Eloise? Think you'll get one of those big, fancy award pins?"

Eloise was already technically a "war hero" and had been for the entirety of her adolescence. She'd fought in her first battle at thirteen. But she didn't mention that. "Probably," she muttered, lacing up her boots. "I've got an Alliance Cross in my future, that's for sure."

"If you ever want help with that, I can teach you a technique I was taught a while back. Lightning redirection. It's came in pretty useful for me."

"You mean Tutaminis?" she asked. "I tried that. Didn't work. Maybe I wasn't doing it right." That was about as close as she could come to willingly asking for help.

"Anyway. Braze, sit yourself down whilst I get my crystal out."
Braze settled down and frowned lightly. "You sound like you're quite capable Eloise. I wonder how much longer you have before you're knighted. " Braze offered simply.

He turned his attention to Shan... " I keep doing exercises with my brace but when I take it off I really do have no.. functionality... " He offered quietly. " I thought I've be able to work it in to some kind of movement by now. " He murmured quietly keeping his voice low.

Shan Shan Jin'lian Jin'lian Eloise Dinn Eloise Dinn

"You mean Tutaminis?"

"No. I learned it from one of those Wilders a while back when I first joined. He was teaching different Jedi how to use the elements and had us pick what we wanted to do. Took a few tries of getting shocked, but eventually I managed to figure out how to have electricity and lightning flow through one part of my body and out another. It's complicated, but I know it's something you should be able to figure out."

As much as Shan didn't like the aggression and how Eloise was talking about the way she killed the Sith, he knew she was capable. She'd probably be better than when he learned off Vulpes himself. Well...Vulpes actually mostly left him to figure out how to do it himself. Either way, he turned his attention towards Braze, frowning at his words.

"Healing can be a slow process Braze. Especially with an injury like this. I know suggesting bed rest isn't something you'd actually listen to, so I won't. I'll do what I can with the Force, but don't count on a miracle. It's easier to heal an injury when it's fresh."

Why it had taken so long for a healer to actually get to Braze's arm, Shan didn't know. He had been busy with his own training, but he wasn't the only healer in the order. He just closed his eyes to focus and centre himself before starting to use the Force. It was going to be tough work, trying to repair nerves and the like but it was possible at least. He just needed to focus.

As Shan focused on healing Braze's arm, he might notice that the superficial damage had mostly been repaired, indicating ongoing Force healing sessions. However, he would soon detect a deeper issue: severe compression of multiple nerves, likely caused by the initial trauma of Braze's arm being caught in a ship's landing gear mechanism. This mechanical trauma had resulted in a condition known as brachial plexopathy, affecting the brachial plexus, as well as the ulnar, median, and radial nerves. These nerves were pinched and compressed, leading to neurogenic paralysis in the arm.

Further examination would reveal a neuroma, a tangled mass of nerve fibers and scar tissue, exacerbating the problem. The nerve compression and resultant ischemia (restricted blood flow) had caused significant impairment to the arm's functionality.

Shan would realize that while Force healing had addressed the superficial and some deeper tissue injuries, the intricate nature of the nerve damage required physical intervention. Techniques such as myofascial release, a type of physical therapy involving deep tissue massage to release tight muscles and improve blood flow, would be necessary to decompress the brachial plexus, ulnar, median, and radial nerves. This process would be quite painful but essential to alleviate the pressure and potentially restore functionality to Braze's arm.

Shan blinked at the injury. Well. That was...definitely something. He honestly hadn't been sure why the Force hadn't been able to work on the injury. It could even revive dead cells, yet it couldn't fix an arm? Somehow, not even his healing crystals of fire were able to heal the injury. It was just an utter stumping for him. Maybe it was a belief system, if you didn't believe it would work, then it didn't. Either way, whatever he was going to have to do was probably going to painful as he passed his lightsaber over towards Braze.

"Here. Hold this. This is probably going to hurt."

He sighed to himself, cracking his fingers together before Shan went to work trying to massage the blood flow back into Braze's arm. It felt quite wrong to Shan if he was being honest to himself. This wasn't something he had normally had to do since he stuck to healing through the Force. It was very rare for him to have to get hands on with patients but since for some reason, the Force wasn't strong enough to deal with the injury, he was having to do it by hand.

Braze sensed an unsettling undertone in Shan's words that spooked him. Shan hadn't specified what would hurt, only that it would. Braze's brow furrowed, and panic set in as Shan handed him the lightsaber. "Uh... on second thought..." He edged back, hopped down, and extended the hilt back to Shan. "Don't worry about me. I see you have a lot going on. I... I'm sorry." With that, Braze turned and scampered away, overwhelmed by sudden panic. Already wary of medical personnel, the intense social interaction had pushed him to his limit. He needed to clear his head.
