SPECIAL FEATURES
- Modes of Operation:
- Automatic: The mine controller prevents mines from detonating or activating when first triggered if it is more effective for them to delay their detonation or activation. This does however only function if an electronic or electric fuze is triggered, not a mechanical one. For example, if a group of enemy scouts step past the first of a series of mines without tripping the tripwire, the controller will prevent them from detonating till the enemy has stepped into the range of final mine such that they would be in coverage of the maximum number of mines.
- Semi-Automatic: Functions precisely in the same manner as the automatic mode except that it waits for manual confirmation from the user before detonating or activating the mine or mines.
- Manual Override: Manual override shows the user the location on a terrain map the location of every mine, their type and their fused sensor feed allowing them to manually activate or detonate the mines as per their preference but does not attempt to stop the mines from detonating or activating as per their programming.
- Deployment: Artillery systems on the same 'Manda' network can be requested to deploy mines via mine launching shells to particular locations on the gid, though the system will also warn the user when mine deployment to a particular grid square is not possible.
- Hardware: The Yust'ad's powerful cluster of heuristic processors allow for vast quantities of data to be easily processed translating raw data to actionable information at an extremely rapid rate. The processors are learning machines and 'learn' how to process data patterns faster and more effectively the longer they are exposed to them.
- 'Manda' Battlenet-compatible encrypted comm/ptp link: The mine controller links with mines in the immediate area and links to the user's HUD suite or a data pad. The controller is also compatible with the 'Manda' Battlenet and can perform its functions over a 'Manda' or 'Manda' compatible battlenet.
- Security Systems:
- RRDM
- Socketguard
- Echo Pulse
- Pyrowall
- Holotrace
- Connection Trace functionality
- Failsafe: Given that the system's database of information could do great harm if it fell into enemy hands, the system includes a ion explosive failsafe that will wipe it clean of all data that can be activated by the user or over commlink with the correct credentials.
STRENGTHS
- Control: The mine controller gives a notable level of control of an entire minefield, no matter the dispersion or the type of mines so long as they are compatible with the controller itself.
- Patience is a Virtue: The controller can delay detonation or activation such that the delayed activation or detonation is more effective, catching more hostiles in its area of effect.
- Redundant: The controller makes use of a number of different communications methods, making its functions difficult to jam.
- Solid Frame: The mine controller's frame is designed for battlefield service and is rated to take stray fire and a few direct impacts from small arms blasters. solid projectile weapons and EMP/Ion weapons.
WEAKNESSES
- EMP/Ion: Should the system actually sustain EMP/Ion damage that bypasses it's defenses, then it can cause all manner of havoc, such as data corruption, forced reboots and even total system failure.
- Electric or Electronic Fuze: The mine controller's ability to delay or halt the activation or detonation of mines till a point where it would be more effective to do so only functions if an electronic or electric fuze is triggered, not a mechanical one.
- One and Done: The failsafe cannot be deactivated once activated, there are no second chances.
- I don't know what I'm doing: When set on manual override the mine controller will not attempt to stop the user from manually activating or detonating mines ineffectively or pointlessly.
DESCRIPTION
The 'Yust'ad' or 'guide' in galactic standard basic the company's solution to keeping the production and deployment expense of mines' as low as possible without sacrificing the functionality company troops and clients require. The Yust'ad is designed to finetune minefields by giving them a limited ability to target select, something minefields are infamously unable to do. This allows mines to more effectively and precisely direct the destructive power to engage hostiles. Unfortunately, this does only function if a mechanical fuze isn't triggered as the system isn't able to halt or delay the activation of mechanical fuzes. Addtionally, when set on manual override the mine controller will not attempt to stop the user from manually activating or detonating mines ineffectively or pointlessly.
The Yust'ad takes the form factor of a somewhat large datapad, allowing for it to be more easily carried than many other battlefield communications architecture devices. The mine controller's frame is designed for battlefield service and is rated to take stray fire and a few direct impacts from small arms blasters. solid projectile weapons and EMP/Ion weapons. That said, should the system actually sustain EMP/Ion damage that bypasses it's defenses, then it can cause all manner of havoc, such as data corruption, forced reboots and even total system failure. Though not a revolutionary piece of technology or a profound contribution to battlefield technology, the Yust'ad is an excellent utility that offers a lot more than it's seemingly mundane nature might bely.
