- PRODUCTION INFORMATION
-
- Manufacturer: Breshig War Forge Consolidated.
- Affiliation: Breshig War Forge Consolidated and Strill Securities.
- Material: Verpine Shatter round components, micro-missile components, Reinforced Duraplast Ultramesh liner, Ultrachrome electronics.
- SPECIAL FEATURES
-
- Explosive Type: Glop Dispersal Charge.
- Guidance Modes:
- Active Homing:
- Pre-launch: The round downloads target information from the launcher.
- Launch: The round's targeting microcomputer completes preliminary planning for maneuvering and plots the course.
- Midcourse: The targeting microcomputer compares initial target information to sensor data and decides whether any maneuvering or course changes are required.
- Terminal: The round switches to laser gyroscope inertial guidance for the terminal phase, preventing broad spectrum jamming from affecting it to a large extent. The round then expends the remainder of its fuel in a sustained high energy acceleration toward the target.
- Control Guidance:
- Pre-launch: The round downloads target information from the launcher.
- Launch: The round's targeting microcomputer completes preliminary planning for maneuvering and plots the course.
- Midcourse: The targeting microcomputer compares initial target information to sensor data from the launcher and decides whether any maneuvering or course changes are required.
- Terminal: The round switches to laser gyroscope inertial guidance for the terminal phase, preventing broad spectrum jamming from affecting it to a large extent.
- Active Homing:
- Detonation Mode(s):
- Airburst: The missile detonates above the target for a more even effect on target whilst also being theoretically less impeded by obstacles.
- Post Terminal Self-destruct: If for whatever reason the missile does not detonate once the terminal phase boost is complete, it will detonate automatically at that point.
- Propulsion and Maneuvering:
- IR suppressed thrust trace dampened vectral equipped ion-atmospheric hybrid drive
- Etheric rudder(s)
- Maneuvering Fins
- Defenses:
- Communications Suite: When connected to compatible systems, the communication suite is an auto-negotiating, frequency hopping system with a self-modulating encryption key, making it extremely resistant to jamming and interception. The comm-lasers can mimic this by rapidly shifting their broadcast spectrum.
- Comm Unit
- Rear-facing Comm Laser
- Backup Communication Systems:
- Sensor, Scanner and Tracking Suite: The missile creates a composite sensor picture by cross checking data from all of its sensors when in guidance modes where it actively uses the to acquire/track targets.
- Dedicated Energy Receptor
- Electro Photoreceptor
- Long-range Heat Detector
- Long-range Energy Scanner
- Magnetic Signature Sensor
- Gravity-wave Anomaly Tracker
- Silhouette Signature Tracking
- Countermeasures Compensation Computer: The C3 analyzes any countermeasures the target deploys, such as jamming, "dummy" drones, flares or chaff, and predicts the target's path. The C3 continues to make minor adjustments up to the microsecond before the missile impacts.
- STRENGTHS
-
- Tracking: Given the high velocity of Verpine Shatter rounds and the added evasion mitigation and the ability to course correct that the guided rounds have, the chance of actually missing a target is greatly lowered. Additionally, the round is capable of adjusting it's trajectory to adjust for the movement of most infantry and vehicle targets.
- Jamming Resistant: The composite sensor, scanner and tracking suite of the rounds prevents broad spectrum jamming from affecting it to a large extent.
- Effective: The VSMR-G has an effective radius of 40 meters and glop foam instantaneously hardens on exposure to oxygen, leaving little space or little time for potential targets to evade.
- WEAKNESSES
-
- Only in Atmosphere: Without oxygen in the atmosphere the glop aerosol cannot harden rendering the round if deployed little more than an annoyance.
- Not-reusable: Unlike most other glop rounds on the market, the VSMR-G cannot be refilled and reused.
- Limited Maneuvering: These rounds are incapable of making any dramatic maneuvering. They can account for last minute evasion attempts by most targets such as infantry targets with jetpacks or particularly maneuverable or fast repulsorcraft.
- DESCRIPTION
-
he VSMR-G is a guided mortar round with, active and control guidance as well as dumbfire capabilities. The rounds feature an advanced composite sensor, scanner and tracking suite, a number of evasion mitigation features and the ability to course correct that the guided rounds give the rounds a greatly lowered miss chance. Additionally, the round is capable of adjusting it's trajectory to adjust for the movement of most infantry and vehicle targets. When this is combined with the significant blast radius of 40 meters makes the VSMR-G a notably useful mortar round.
These rounds are incapable of making any dramatic maneuvering. They can account for last minute evasion attempts by most targets such as infantry targets with jetpacks or particularly maneuverable or fast repulsorcraft. Finally, the round's payload is entirely non-lethal on its own with no real offensive capability on its own. Additionally, without oxygen in the atmosphere, the glip aerosol cannot harde4b, rendering the round if deployed little more than an annoyance. Finally, unlike most other glop rounds on the market, the VSMR-G cannot be refilled and reused.
