PRODUCTION INFORMATION
- Manufacturer: Breshig War Forge Consolidated.
- Affiliation: Breshig War Forge Consolidated and Strill Securities.
- Material: Duranium frame (weapon and armature), dallorian alloy coated inner barrel, duravlex reinforced barrel, reinforced duraplast reinforcement, combat de-ionizer, ultrachrome wiring, servo motors and Ripper components.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
- Ammunition Capacity: Average. 100-round combined gas cartridge-drum magazine.
- Effective Range: 750m.
SPECIAL FEATURES
- Armor/HUD Sync: The weapon syncs to armor HUD and sensor systems. Target acquisition and assignment is done via armor sensor and HUD systems respectively.
- Heuristic Processor: A heuristic processor is included to handle the real-time processing requirements of the weapon.
- Slave Targeting Mode: The weapon can be set to follow the user's head motions, allowing for faster targeting of units not immediately in front of the user.
- In-built 1-250x Extreme Range 'Kyrayc Sur'haai' Optic System.
- Armature folds and stows on the back when not in use.
- Three Fire Modes: The rifle possesses a semi-automatic, two-round burst and fully automatic fire mode.
- Variety of Ammunition: Breshig War Forge Consolidated produces a variety of ammunition for the weapon:
- AP: Armor-piercing rounds with a depleted baradium core designed to act as a penetrator upon impact with armor.
- HE: Deuterium detonator rounds designed to explode on contact with a hard surface.
- Bronzium Full Metal Jacket Rounds: Bronzium jacketed rounds, standard ammunition for the weapon.
- Electro-stun Round: Similar to electro-stun grenades but on a smaller scale, the electro-stun rounds are capable of immobilizing most humanoid targets with two or so impacts, whereupon they release an electric charge, though decidedly stubborn targets might require more rounds. These rounds are also not very effective against hard armored targets.
- EMP: Micro-EMP rounds, unlikely to permanently damage a droid or armor systems, but capable of causing a momentary sensor lag or targeting system delay against unshielded systems. More of a distraction than anything else, though the best warriors know that even a second's worth of time on your enemy is well worth it.
- AP-HE: Depleted baradium jacket with a deuterium charge designed to detonate on impact. Somewhat rarer and more expensive due to the higher depleted baradium content.
- API: Armor-piercing rounds with a depleted baradium core and a blaster gas incendiary charge designed to detonate on impact.
- SLAP: Saboted light armor penetrator round with a depleted baradium penetrator. Better at penetrating armor than a regular armor piercing round.
- SLAP-HE: Works on the same principle as a SLAP round, only the rear end of the penetrator is given over to a deuterium explosive designed to detonate on impact.
STRENGTHS
- Ammunition Supply Compatibility: The new drum magazine developed for the RR-05S can also be used with the RR-03 Repeating Ripper.
- Selective Shielding: While particle and similar shielding will still stop a ripper round, ray and molecular shielding will strip the energy coating of a ripper round but allow the projectile to pass through.
- Improved Penetration: Ripper rounds superheat the site of impact, allowing for improved penetration of armor.
- Versatile: The variety of rounds available for the weapon make it highly versatile, able to engage a variety of targets.
- Range: The weapon's range is impressive, and far longer than most repeating blaster equivalents.
WEAKNESSES
- Heavy Ammunition: The ammunition for the weapon isn't exactly light either, making carrying large quantities of ammunition difficult, and after a certain point, nigh on impossible.
- Higher Degree of Competency Required: The Ripper is not a weapon for those who don't have a reasonable competency in marksmanship.
- Two Consumables: Rippers require both gas as propellant and magazines to hold the solid slug ammunition.
DESCRIPTION
The RR-05S is essentially an updated version of the venerable RR-03 frame with a new combined gas cartridge-ammunition drum that is mounted on an armature and configured for armor-mounted use. This version brings the same versatility, armor penetrating potential and versatility that the RR-03 brings, but adds the convenience an armor mounted, largely handsfree weapon. While the new magazine makes carrying both the gas propellant and the rounds required more convenient, it doesn't make the rounds any lighter, Even so, introduction of the RR-05S enables company troops to diversify their primary weapon loadout, greatly increasing the versatility of company troops deployed.
