PRODUCTION INFORMATION
- Manufacturer: Breshig War Forge Consolidated.
- Affiliation: Breshig War Forge Consolidated and Strill Securities.
- Material: Duraplast frame, combat de-ionizer, Baradium, electronics and detonation pack components.
SPECIAL FEATURES
- Variable Geometry: The charge is made up of multiple hinged segments, allowing it to be placed around a large cable duct or pipe, though the explosive is still only one charge rather than multiple smaller charges.
- Stackable: Multiple charges can be easily combined for an increased yield via easy to use connectors that allow the charges to be placed on top of each other.
- Variable Detonation Mode(s):
- Shaped Charge: The detpack operates like a shaped charge, directing a focused blast into whatever it is secured to.
- Standard: The detpack simply detonates the baradium creating a high explosive effect like a regular detpack but notably more lethal.
- Variable Detonation Method(s):
- Timed: The charge has as timer that can be set from anywhere from half a second to it's battery pack's maximum lifetime of a galactic standard week. The connection of more powerful external charge packs will allow the timer to be set for longer periods of time.
- Command: The charge is primarily designed to be detonated over comms, to facilitate this it has a 'Manda' Battlenet-compatible encrypted frequency hopping comm/ptp link or comm laser. This means the charge can be detonated via paired comms system via standard comms or ptp link or over a connected 'Manda' net. In all cases, additional authorized comm units may be synced and may be used to detonate the charge provided they have the detonation code. The detonation code is either set manually or generated by the first paired comm unit.
- Tamper-prevention:
- Removal Detection: If removed from the object it is adhered to without disarming, the charge will detonate.
- Laser Gyroscope: If the charge is moved or lifted once armed, it will detonate.
- Mechu-deru/Slicing/Re-wiring: Sensors and monitoring routines check for attempts to alter the charge's functioning. If attempts are made to alter the charge's programming or circuitry once armed, it will detonate.
- Power Loss: If for any reason the charge loses power, it will detonate with a backup chemical fuze.
- Variable Attachment Mthod(s)
- Magnatomic Gription Panel: The detpack features magnatomic gription panels that allow it to be adhered to objects. By depressing a button on the charge the panel will disengage allowing it to be repositioned. A separate button allows the user to lock the panel with a code entered via the pack's keypad or transmitted via comms, preventing it from being disengaged easily without said code.
- Adhesive: If for whatever reason the gription panel can't be used, a frost and moisture-proof adhesive can be used by peeling off the backing.
- Reversed Micro-repulsor: The charge features a micro-repulsor that can be reversed to adhere it primarily in the case of quick-use scenarios as its use does decrease battery-life of the charge to three days.
- Multi-Environment: These charges can be used underwater or even in the vacuum of space.
STRENGTHS
- Difficult to Disarm: The charge's numerous tamper-prevention methods make it difficult to disarm for those without the disarm code.
- Small Form Factor: The charge's hinged construction allows it to be carried folded, thereby taking up less space.
- Big Boom: The detpack's explosive charge is made up of a fairly significant amount of Baradium, easily enough to potentially blow open blast doors made of even hardened materials.
- Versatile: The charge's variable geometry, multiple attachment and detonation methods combined with it's ability to be used in multiple environments makes it extremely versatile.
WEAKNESSES
- EMP/Ion: EMP/Ion weapons could detonate the charge earlier than when intended should they burn out it's power supply.
- Battery Life: Use of the micro-repulsor to adhere the charge lowers it's battery life from a week to three days.
DESCRIPTION
Strill Securities personnel increasingly found that they required detpacks that had more capabilities than the models they were using, and once more Breshig War Forge Answered. The company conducted a survey and put together a list of features that the new detpack was required to have. The result was the company's first detpack.
The MGP-01 brought with it a number of improvements. Chief among these were the tamper-prevention features that made the pack extremely difficult to disarm for hostiles once it was armed. Like a few of the company's other explosives, it featured some manner of defense against the ostensibly rare force technique Mechu Deru.
The charge's tamper-prevention would also unfortunately prematurely detonate it if it's power supply were disabled. This is problematic for a number of reasons.
The charge also notably featured a hinged design that allowed it to be carried folded, thereby taking up less space. This variable geometry, multiple attachment and detonation methods combined with it's ability to be used in multiple environments made it extremely versatile.
One of these attachment methods, however, the reversed micro-repulsor does reduce the pack's battery life from a week to 3 galactic standard days.
Function, versatility and lethality overcome the charge's few shortfalls and the charge has been in widespread adoption with Strill Securities' forces ever since it's recent production.
