SPECIAL FEATURES​

• Armor/HUD Sync: The weapon syncs to armor HUD and sensor systems. Target acquisition and assignment is done via armor sensor and HUD systems respectively.
  • Heuristic Processor: A heuristic processor is included to handle the real-time processing requirements of the weapon.
• Slave Targeting Mode: The weapon can be set to follow the user's head motions, allowing for faster targeting of units not immediately in front of the user.

STRENGTHS​

• High Heat: The high heat of the plasma discharged by this weapon is capable of melting through all but the most thermally resistant materials.
• Versatile: The weapon can either be fired in wide-spray mode, where while shorter range it can be used against multiple targets at once or to blanket an area in fire, or in focused mode where it has a longer range, though a single shot is usually capable of only affecting a single target.
• It Burns: The plasma 'sticks' to what it impacts, and remains at an extremely high temperature even in the absence of oxygen to burn. This means that theoretically it does continual damage to shields, armor or even more horrifyingly, exposed flesh that it impacts.

WEAKNESSES​

• Volatile Ammunition: Should the canister rupture, then it is likely that it will also explode. Such a situation is far from ideal.
• Short Range: The weapon's short range relegates it to use in close quarters firefights, such as one the user might find themselves in during urban combat.

DESCRIPTION​

The HPC-02S is a variation on the HPC-02 which is modified to function as an armor backplate mounted hands-free weapon system. The HPC-02S was designed so that troops wouldn't be relegated to the inflexibility of a support weapon as their primary weapon, broadening options and allowing for a greater variety of weapons to be carried without losing the utility of a weapon like the HPC-02S in the confines of urban combat, station or shipboard operations or against the sheer variety of biological threats in the galaxy.​

The S model gives up a portion of the sheer stopping power of the standard model for weight savings. The inclusion of plas-bonded ostrine cooling coils enables the S model to carry less cryoban for its cooling system, lightening the weight considerably. The S model, being an armor backplate mounted hands-free weapon system, has the capability to fire over and/or around cover. This gives it a decided utilitarian advantage over the standard model securing it's place in the company's arsenal.​
