SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Integrated Gyro-gimbal: In order to better balance the weapon both before and after firing a shot, a gyro-gimbal was integrated into it.
  • Integrated Barrel Cryo Cooling Lattice: A Dallorian alloy barrel alone isn't enough to keep the weapon from overheating and damaging its barrel, so a cryo cooling lattice was integrated into its construction.
  • Variety of Ammunition: Breshig War Forge Consolidated produces a variety of ammunition for the weapon:
    • APFSDS-B: Beskar sabots, designed to penetrate beskar armor or equivalent.​
    • AP: Armor-piercing rounds with a depleted baradium core designed to act as a penetrator upon impact with armor.​
    • APFSDS: Depleted baradium sabot, designed to penetrate heavy armor.
    • High Explosive Incendiary Armor Piercing: Using a deuterium based explosive to trigger a blaster gas incendiary charge (similar to the NOVA40 grenade) before driving a depleted baradium penetrator into the target, the HEIAP rounds are extremely deadly.
    • HE: Deuterium detonator rounds designed to explode on contact with a hard surface with a four meter blast radius.
    • EMP: Powerful EMP round that has a high probability of causing significant damage to unprotected external systems and causing interference/forcing a reboot in unprotected internal systems.
STRENGTHS
  • Armor-Piercing: The rounds fired by this weapon have a higher chance of penetrating armor and causing significant damage than traditional slugthrowers.
  • Whisper Quiet: Like all Verpine Shatter weapons, the A-02 Verpine Autocannon is whisper quiet at the point of the shooter when fired on supersonic mode, and is dead quiet when fired on subsonic throughout the round's trajectory. Only a very faint whistle may be heard in the event of a near miss.
  • Pinpoint Accurate: Like most Verpine weapons, the A-02 is extremely accurate and has little to no ballistic drop out to its maximum range.
  • Versatile: The variety of rounds available for the weapon make it highly versatile, able to engage a variety of targets.
  • Armor Bane: The high power of the rounds, it's impressive propensity for armor penetration, high projectile velocity and excellent range make the weapon excellent for use in neutralizing armored vehicles, though it can struggle against heavily armored vehicles if not aimed correctly.
WEAKNESSES
  • EMP/Ion Vulnerability: Despite the attempt to protect the weapon's sensitive electronics, a powerful enough EMP/Ion weapon will fry the acceleration coils and render the weapon useless.​
  • Clumsy: Being far from perfectly weighted, the weapon is difficult to move around, and at close quarters operators are far better off just temporarily abandoning the weapon.​
  • Heavy: At 22 galactic standard kilograms, the weapon is far from light, making it inconvenient to carry over long distances.​
  • Heavy Ammunition: The ammunition for the weapon isn't exactly light either, making carrying large quantities of ammunition difficult, and after a certain point, nigh on impossible.​
  • Heavy Armor: While excellent for neutralizing most armored vehicles, the weapon can struggle with heavier armor and must be aimed well to take advantage of less armored locations on the target.​
DESCRIPTION
Designed to be used by commando teams wishing to neutralize enemy hard targets without immediately giving their positions away, the A-02 Verpine Autocannon is the ultimate blend of subtlety, firepower and versatility without compromising on any of the above. The first version, the A-01 Verpine Autocannon was first tested by Vuhyr'yalilyr rammikade members in the field, and field test data was used to make improvements to the original weapon to create the A-02.

The A-02 fires large caliber rounds reserved for typically vehicle mounted weapon systems, that have a far higher chance of penetrating armor armor and causing significant damage than a slugthrower firing the same round.
