Breaking the Bank (Mandalorian Dominion of Muunilist)

With the recent collapse of the Sith Empire, there were hundreds, if not thousands of worlds that suddenly found themselves free of oppression. With freedom, however, came risks and complications. One of which was military protection. The other was simple logistical support. For the people of Muunilist, there was little in the galaxy that could not be bought. From food and water to luxury vehicles and servant girls. Everything could be had, at a price.

Rygel Larraq had every intention of capitalizing on the needs of the people of Muunilist. Hyperion Mining and Hyperon Security, subsidiaries of Mandal Hypernautics and companies owned and backed by the Dam'adas clan, both had plenty to offer the rich bankers of Muunilist. From established logistical trains to secure escorts of sensitive cargo, Mandal Hypernautics and her subsidiaries had everything the bankers could possibly need. The key, would be convincing them of as much.

Representing both his company and his clan, Larraq's Galaar-Class Shuttle descended into the atmosphere of moneyland. He had dozens of business meetings scheduled for today and had every intention of impressing upon the leaders of this world that aligning their planet with the Mandalorian Clans would be the most profitable investment of their lives.

Arrbi Betna sat in the bay of a small gunship following the Mandal Hypernautics shuttle. Though the plan was to take this planet over peacefully through economic contracts and general financial pressure, there was enough fleet over the planet with troop compliments to assault should the plan go to osik. Mandalorians liked to live with a plan B. Ret'lini. Just in case.

That said, Betna's job was a little different from the norm. He was here to... 'encourage' the Muuns to side with the Mandalorians. It was a one man type of job. Deniable operations, more or less. Perfect for a sniper. He would assassinate key individuals within the capital city here to cripple the banking world's main institutions. He'd then go 'rogue' and take potshots here and there to draw attention to the sniper nest before bailing out and mingling back with the Mandalorian guards around the diplomatic shuttles. High risk, low drag. He loved it.

As the gunship passed over a rooftop on a skyscraper in the middle of the city, Betna rolled out. He fell a good dozen or so feet, but tucking and rolling saved him any injury, though his knee twitched slightly from ghost pains as his body remembered a similar fall on Manaan. Rising to his feet and checking to make sure he was alone, he dusted himself off and checked over his gear.

He scrounged a beat up, old set of Republic covert armor and wore it instead of his regular Beskar'gam, though his personal armor was tucked away with the gunship he'd come in on. He'd retrieve and don it once done here. He wore a standard, nondescript slug thrower pistol. It was mag fed in the .45 caliber. A nice sidearm, but he did miss his .44 revolver. In his hands he held a Republic XS-09 Sniper Rifle, courtesy of the fight on Manaan. He'd picked the weapon up off the field to see how it compared to his slug thrower. It shot farther, but he preferred the stealthier chemical propelled bullet he was used to.

Making sure his kit and weapons were good to go and operational, he found a nice niche in the building and set up shop. In a few minutes, Betna had set up a nice, cozy sniper nest atop the sky scraper so that he could do his job with minimal chance of being spotted. He propped up the rifle on top of a set of piping and got comfortable. His first target was about a click away to the east. If his data was correct, he'd be looking for a Muun in a very nice suit with lots of precious metals adorning it somewhere on the top floor of the skyscraper visible through Betna's scope.

He zoomed in and found the right floor and right building. Now, he just had to find the Muun...

There were no false illusions why others were going for Muunilist. So Petra thought same goal could fuel a win for all. She had intent to make a gain there so her Witches could be lifted out of darkness more. Tech was not their strong suit since many clung to the old ways during the dark times. That was her reason at the moment. Money, backers for her business, and anything she could get to the witches to level that she left them at about six hundred years before.

Petra went ahead and got herself familiar with some places and people on Muun. It was how she knew were to wait for schedule and proper Mando businessman. Mind control was fun to play with. Lovely voodoo that she do so well on minds she wanted to use. In her full black ceremony attire with face painted, she waited to poke at the Mando and suggest a small deal for all to win.

Muunilist, if ever there was ever a world to call the crown jewel of planets, this was it. The wealth of this single world was enough to back the currencies of the entire galaxy. Preposterously nonsensical the power the Munn's truly held over the Galaxy. They could buy whole planets he bet. With but the saying of the Chairman; the head of the Intergalactic Banking Clan. Even the mighty Republic would fall to economic ruin as their currency became worthless. Surprisingly though but true for all its existence, the IGBC never even used such threats upon those it views as unsavory. Not on such a grand scale anyways. They were quite neutral in fact. Preferring to seek profit from all sides then solidly choose one over another, even when someone had them under heel. Much of this was just recently learned history for this back from the dead warrior. And it was at his suggestion they attempt to bring them under the influence of the Mando'a. While the possibility of them truly joining the clans were virtually nil, and viable and profitable relationship could be formed. Mygeeto was once under their full control, and with the Sith no longer binding them they could seek to regain their full influence over the planet again. With out a doubt bringing fortune along with it. And no longer with the armada that protected the world from them, or the new Fel Imperium, a side would beneficial for protection. And the Mandalorian's would be the logical choice given Mygeeto as stated. Thus they would attempt to forge a relationship, one profitable for both sides. The Mandalorian's just needed to keep in mind the Muun's would not be bound to the will of the Mandalore by duty. They were not a warrior race like most who made up the ranks; they were pencil pushers and outsiders. Ones who could bring them to their knee's without a fight. For the pen is mightier than the sword when they can write the account closure document and then drop your currency backing, you can't buy anymore swords without money. Its just business.

The Pale was traveling with Mr. Larraq. A business man and capable captain, one he had some trust in. "So Captain, have we made it clear to the delegates and soldiers that we aren't here to subjugate or cause trouble, but to form an alliance and open business relationships? The last thing we need is a trigger happy fool getting his own ideas".

"It has been made clear to all that we wish to welcome Muunilist with open arms @[member="The Pale"]. But no matter how sound the argument, there will always be voiced of discontent and representatives of other organizations that need to be silenced. I have one of our best maneuvering behind the scenes to ensure that our voice is the strongest. And I trust him to be able to keep any backwash pointed soundly at someone else." Larraq said to the man by his side.

The shuttle settled gently on a new and well maintained landing pad and lowered its side ramp. Larraq and his company of several dignitaries exited the craft with whatever poise and grace could be had from the cowboys of the galaxy. Standing at the edge of the landing pad, a customs officer and an underling waited to greet the new guests of the Banks. "Welcome." Said the Neimoidian underling. Larraq smiled and thanked the worthless underling for his greeting and for taking the time to see them. The customs officer squinted at them and frowned. "You brought weapons." Said the customs officer after a moment of staring at Larraq's sidearm and saber.

"Yes. We're Mandalorians. We always bring weapons." Said Larraq honestly to the customs officer. "Being able and prepared to defend ones self is of utmost importance in our society. I ensure you though, no harm will come to a citizen of Muunilist by the hands of my ilk. It would be very bad for business."

The Neimoidian customs officer chuckled slightly at the idea. "It would be more than bad for business. It would be bad for your economy." He said laughingly. "Fine. Keep your weapons at your own risk." He said at last as he waved them through.

Crack.

The Muun pitched over onto his desk as a nice, neat hole appeared in its head. Betna had to hand it to the rifle. Instead of shattering the glass and causing noise, it just burned a nice, clean hole in the window. No alarms went off and no one rushed in to investigate. Plus, until someone took a good long look at the being's head, it looked like he'd just fallen asleep at his desk.

Betna lowered the rifle and moved on to the next target. Yet another skyscraper, though this time it was a lower level. Apparently, the CEO of this banking branch valued humility and hard work over pomp and showing the wealth. The Mandalorian could relate and understand that set of core values, but he would still do the job at hand. Valuing hard work meant doing the job no matter what, which meant Betna had to kill the guy. It was nothing personal, just business.

He zoomed in on the building and question and began searching. The report said nothing about how the Muun looked, but apparently the target loved live plants in his office. Such a liking was unusual to most Muun. The office would be easy enough to find...

Things change quickly and adopting was always needed. Petra had decided to adjust what she wanted. She went on her way. The Muun with her was told to take her where there are investment firms. There were a few ideas she wanted to test out. It just had to be at the right time.

The 72 year old Muun sat at his desk in the government building and answer a buzz on his desk communicator.

"What in blazes do you want?" San said in a nasal grumbling voice.

"Sir, Mandalorians have set down on planet." Came the reply from the young Secretary.

"Ahh come on!" The old Muun said "First the blasted Sith now the Karking Mandalorians. What in blazes do I have to do to get these head cases to go the hells away? Give them the run around and then let them through increase security around the building."

Ordo's fleet hung in Hyperspace waiting for the signal to jump to Muunilinst. He looked at his Chrono. Hopefully they could clean things up quietly but if that didn't work he'd be back up.

Crack... Crack...

Betna lowered the rifle and shifted to look at another building. Fortunately he'd found the office he was looking for. The one with plants all over. Unfortunately, he'd found his target engaging in some... recreational activities with his secretary at the time. Seeing that they weren't about to finish any time soon and that they'd obviously be left alone for some time, Betna went ahead and eliminated both individuals in the room. Sometimes collateral damage was unavoidable. He'd learned that on Manaan.

Next target was a female Muun somewhere in a smaller tower near the outskirts of the city, but barely within range. She wasn't all that important. Just a middle level flunky on the totem pole in a financial company, but she was currently having a back room affair with some government official. Eliminating her would make that official more susceptible to pressure or force them from the picture entirely. Betna didn't like targeting 'innocents' at all, but sometimes the few must be sacrificed for the many. At least, that's what he kept telling himself. If an economic and political takeover wasn't possible, they'd have to come in guns blazing, which meant more people got in the way. Which meant more people got killed.

He found the office in question and zoomed in. He spotted the Muun at her desk, but there was another person at their desk in the room, too. Betna took a moment to wait and see if the other person left any time soon. Hopefully he wouldn't have to eliminate both of them like the last pair...

"He best do so Larraq. The Muun's are seemingly a people not to be trifled with. If we anger them, they may very well use their powers of finance and their galactic influence to cripple us. So lets keep that in mind". The Pale descended the ships ramp to the landing pad, a customs official berated them for a short while on their armaments but allowed them to pass eventually. Larraq was slick with his wording, playing a culture game. And maybe the official was a little incompetent at his job, but that's his problem, not theirs. Still they'd most likely be made to give up their weapons when entering meetings, security would be paramount for the Muun leaders and shakers.

Crackacrack...

Two bodies slumped face first to their respective desks. Betna didn't like collateral damage, but it just couldn't be helped it seemed. The Mandalorian slipped out of the sniper nest and slung the rifle across his back. The job for this part was done, more or less. He couldn't target any of his other marks from here. He'd have to shift positions for the rest of the job.

Thankfully, his next position was nearby and only a few stories down from where he was. Moving would leave him exposed, but that sort of risk came with this sort of job. He checked what he jokingly called his 'glider pack' to make sure it was still functional. Really, all it was made of was a couple square yards of heavy duty, nylon fabric that would slow down his descent just enough to be able to control his direction. It was a miniature, old style parachute for all intents and purposes. He popped the trigger that let the spring loaded arms deploy to spread the fabric out and hold it rigid, then stepped up onto the ledge.

He spotted the next building he had to set up shop on and gauged the distance. It was only a few hundred feet away, but it was only about ten stories shorter. He'd have to gauge it just right, judge the wind gusts perfectly, or he'd fall short. Falling short was a bad idea at this point. Half because he'd surely plummet to his death and half because no one would ever let him live that embarrassment down if he did.

Taking a deep breath and waiting for a lull between wind gusts, Betna launched himself from the top of the skyscraper.

Larraq nodded in agreement with @[member="The Pale"] as they followed the young underling to a second checkpoint and then a third. By the time they arrived at the fourth checkpoint, Larraq was having flashbacks to incidents that had taken place on Adumar. And he was not about to let the same blasted thing happen here. Pulling out his dataslate, Larraq quickly double checked the schematics they had acquired of the building before politely excusing himself for the bathroom. Once out of sight of the poor Neimoidian underling, Larraq quickly ducked through a side hallway and made his way to the staff elevators.

Now free of the checkpoints and scrutiny of security officers, Larraq made his way to the top floor. His schematics indicated that the largest office with the best view was on this floor. And if Larraq knew businessmen, then whoever owned that office would be the man to speak to. Larraq quickly made his way through the offices and startled secretaries as he approached the office. More than one secretary tried to ask if he had an appointment. Larraq simply ignored them and opened the door to the office himself. Now staring at a slightly startled looking @[member="San Card"], Larraq smiled as only a salesman could and introduced himself. "I'm Captain Rygel Larraq. On behalf of Mandalore and the Dam'adas clan... I'm here to offer you a solution. And to save you from yet another Empire breathing down your neck."

The old Muun looked at the man. And made a look that said I've seen it all before.
The Muun folded his hands over his lap and leaned back in his large chair.

"You'll have to forgive if I don't get up." Card said dryly. "What exactly can I do for you."

Parking himself in one of the seats across from @[member="San Card"], Larraq crossed his ankle over his knee, leaned back in the almost comfortable chair, and said to the Neimoidian. "It's actually about what I can do for you."

"Tell me. How have you been fairing since the collapse of the Sith Empire? The added freedom and room to breath has surely been a godsend, but has it really been all that good for business? Has the cost of such basic amenities as food and water gone up? How about the price for fuel cells and other logistical needs? These little increases in expenses add up quickly. And I've no doubt you can afford them... But I'm sure you'd rather not have to."

"We were well prepared for the empires decline." Card lied, but he did it well. In truth not having to feed the imperials their taxes would be good for business.

"But for the sake of arguement lets hear the pitch. I'm a busy Muun."

"Tch. Well he's gone. Let us continue. I wish to meet with your planetary security chief". Larraq was... well, lets not get in to that. The Pale continued onwards, his little guide picked up the pace to catch up. Since his friend wished to negotiate alone, Pale would deal with any potential problems the Muun's may still be facing of the Empires remnants. There were sure to be some still on a world like this, and they needed to either be captured, or snuffed out.

The planetary security chief was not exactly the kind of man Pale expected to meet. The Muun had no formal military training, and delegated most of the work to a commander of the Iotran Guard up on Highport. The Sith used to handle all this, he was just a lawyerhe said given the task. Insufferable, but at least he wasn't in charge for very long to muck things up. The Iotran commander was much more helpful once he got in communications with him. He was full fledged military, and pointed out the problems they faced. Chief amongst the issues was a Captavis Class Star Destroyer. It was hiding somewhere over the sea in a storm. Quite clever since its captain didn't wish to flee, or so it appeared. Whatever her intentions it mattered naught. The ship was a threat and it would be dealt with.

The Pale requisitioned a few gunships to take her, and some warriors. They'd sneak up and surprise her. The storm would mask their approach.

Ember was wearing a suit.

Not that he had any company to represent, or any formal function to attend. It was just that, every now and again, when he went killing, he preferred to wear something other than the hood. So today was suit day, and his lightsabre blurred through Djem So forms as Imperial loyalist stormtroopers -- a redundancy, that -- died.

Where he was wasn't exceptionally important. Without question, this was a good solid place to kill stormtroopers, but fethed if he could figure out his actual location.

Being guided to a finance firm that met what she was wanting, Petra followed into an office building. She sat down in the lobby as her new little minion went on to see if he could her into a meeting right at that moment. Her eyes scanned the table in front of her. The glass table held data pads of different articles. One covered the firms move to go the top and another was about fall of the Sith Empire. For her, it was all boring and waiting in the lobby was getting that way. All because she wanted to do it without rocking the boat and tipping her hand.

WHUMP!

"... Owwwwww..." came Betna's only response from impacting on the side of the building.

He'd managed to make it the whole way over. Barely. He was a few feet lower than he had wanted to be, but had some how managed to grab the lip of the roof with his hands before slamming full force into the outer wall of the building. This was definitely not his day it seemed.

Betna carefully pulled himself up, doing his best to ignore just how close he'd come to falling to his death, and got his bearings. He was where he needed to be and at the right time for it, too. The Mandalorian ditched the contraption off his back and let it fall to the floor. He then took a knee by the low wall surrounding the rooftop and started looking for a target. He looked through the list once more.

His next target was a bank branch owner or manager for the IGBC. IGBC building on the seventieth floor. Betna sighed quietly. No one ever labelled the floors externally. He'd have to count each floor individually to find the right floor. Nothing was ever simple, it seemed. Picking up the rifle, he scanned the appropriate building and started counting the floors.

"One... Two... Three..."
