SPECIAL FEATURES

  • A synthetic crystal that works to freeze, or cool temperatures around it.

  • Won’t break if dropped, however, is quite susceptible to blaster fire.
It can be attuned to the force, develops a more powerful, albeit unstable blade.
Strengths:

  • Frost: Extremely resistant to the cold, the crystal is designed to reduce temperatures around it until they are consistent with its own.
Weaknesses:

  • Heat: While it can take on heat, it does so on its own pace any alteration of this pace and heat can quickly overwhelm the crystal.

  • Blasters: While the crystal is quite sturdy and can take several kinetic hits, it cannot withstand more than a hit from a blaster.
DESCRIPTION
A project long put on hold, Ryssa Yvarro on a visit to Contruum Six inquired of the crystal’s status. From there on the project was not only back on but at full speed. The idea was rather simple, create a synthetic crystal. The crystal would draw heat away from critical components, and storing it within itself. In essence, the crystal’s effect creates latent heat with the crystal passing this heat onto another component in what would be an entirely new power generator and system. In effect, the crystal transfers energy through a constant temperature.
The Boreas Crystal would then be produced in large enough quantities to suit Primo Victorian Shipwright’s manufacturing needs. They could later increase the scale to benefit major contractors such as the Sith Empire, or any other Imperial-aligned government.

It can be used as a lightsaber crystal, however, because it is not naturally attuned to the Force. The user must attune the crystal themselves, a process that was tested in secret revealed that much like other synthetic crystals. The Boreas was unstable and seemed to be favored by those aligned with the Dark Side rather than the light. The crystal produces a more powerful blade that can be augmented much easier than naturally occurring crystals. A handful of crystals were sent to the Sith Empire for further ‘harmonization.’

Notes: The Boreas Crystal works best when immersed in a liquid-cooling environment. As either a standard power crystal or lightsaber crystal it cannot cut through lightsaber resistant materials and is itself vulnerable to lightsabers.
