Description:

Boram hospital ships are are a class of specialized cruisers designed to provide medical services, well suited to deliver emergency care within war-zones or disaster struck areas.

The First Order's unprecedented blockade of the southern arm of the Hydian Way sparked the idea for the development of the Boram, out of concern that much of the the galaxy could be cut off from regular bacta shipments from Thyferra and other major bacta production sites. The Silver Service Corps then worked closely with the local Thyferran government to create a new class of highly mobile, self-sufficient vessels that could produce their own stores of bacta and synthesize their own drugs from raw materials. All on top of the normal functions of a hospital ship.

Bacta production begins with agar tanks used to grow alazhi bacteria, the active biological component responsible for the healing properties of the colloid. Growth is accelerated by bio-restorative underlays that encase the tank, ensuring a relatively large steady supply of the stuff. Meanwhile, synthetic kavam and ambori are produced by molecular converters.

Another important feature to the platform is the inclusion of HIMS, ensuring that Boram ships can bypass most forms of interdiction during transit.

Each ship can comfortably service a planet or system depending on the population number and/or severity of disaster. Borm ships are designed to be parked into orbit and have patients transported to them, but they can deploy mobile clinics planetside to provide basic care.

As part of their partnership with the Silver Service Corps in developing the bacta production system, the Thyferran government receives a sizable royalty from each vessel manufactured by the SEC.
