Description.
Written by Mother Gethzerion when she founded the Witches of Dathomir, the Book of Shadows has served as the spiritual basis of the Nightsisters' society on Dathomir. It was written to replace the original guide for the Witches of Dathomir, which had been created by its founder, Allya. The Book of Shadows contains all of Mother Gethzerion's knowledge, containing the details of the spells and rituals created by Mother Gethzerion for the Nightsisters of Dathomir.
Mother Talzin allegedly stated that the Book of Shadows was a restored version of Allya's original teachings, as she believed the Book of Law did not include the notions of "good" and "evil." She believed that the Book of Law, in fact, was a forgery written by those "weakened by the Jediblood in their veins".
The pages of the book were synthesized by Mother Gethzerion out of pure spirit ichor, which were then subsequently bound by alchemized Whuffa Worm leather. The cover of the Book of Shadows possesses six emerald green eyes which open when the Book of Shadows is imbued with spirit ichor. Only then, can the Book of Shadows be opened and its content will telepathically be transmitted to the reader. Each eye represents a different section of the Book of Shadows.
